Frances' New House, New Life, New Start Diary...

Ergh sorry to hear that hun,the scales are being very unfair to you! Ok bout update your diary still, hope something works for you soon :0)

:( you cant have gained 2lb with what you ate, maybe it was just the weight of yesterdays dinner or something - i know your sensative if you have pasta the night before so maybe the carbs did it. NO way with what you ate its a genuine gain! bet it will be off in a few days xxx

Can you get Psyllium husks over there? You have a teaspoon in water once (or twice) a day - must have water with it and drink plenty too. I've been taking it for about a month now to help with my IBS - it's brilliant. You can get it in tablet form I think - names like Lepicol and Metamucil or Metamicil, but I buy the loose stuff in a bag - cheaper, and I always feel the nearer to natural form the better. I can't rate it highly enough - I've had IBS for over 30 years and it's the best thing I have ever tried for it. Might not work for everybody, but might be worth a look. I only have a 'bathroom problem' (keeping it tasteful!) of any kind now if I forget to take it for a few days and/or have too much wheat.

(It is a bit like drinking the water retaining granules you get for hanging baskets, in a cup of water, but tasteless, and worth it IMO!)

Never even heard of them TBH but defo worth a try!! Can I be personal and ask in what way you're affected with your IBS?
Just coz you know the way some people go too much...and other get clogged!! (sorry ppl.. I know its a horrible subject!)
Just coz obv if you're the opposite to me, what works for you, mightn't for me as we're looking for different results...
Where do you buy them? Chemist / health food store / supermarket??

10:30 and I'm not hungry AT ALL for brekkie.. Force myself to have some.. or just leave it???

Have something little like a yoghurt or fruit will help with blood sugars and stop the snack attack later

I don't think it's a real gain because you haven't eaten an excess 7000 cals, i think it's just water weight hun x

I think you're just upset and that's why you have no appetite, maybe have something small like a piece of fruit or just a glass of fruit juice :)

Do you know why I'm not hungry... I had an apple this morning on the way to work!
I woke up hungry so had an apple to tie me over til breakfast.. Would have had brekkie when I got to work, but then usually I'd be starving come lunch time so I thought I was making the better choice..
Am in work now n don't have much food with me.. I do have some cereal bars (2pp each) and I do have crackers... I have Bran Flakes and Porridge too in the kitchen.. But no fruit.. I don't ever have yogurts coz I nearly always end up throwing them out.. I hate eating for the sake of it tho...
I know I should have something to keep the metabolism going tho.. Not that its doing me any favours of late!!! lol

Yep, no problem. I'm both - I swing between 'too much' and 'not enough.' Get sudden urges to go, often in the middle of a meal, when you know it's not that meal that's being digested, as it's far too soon, but obviously the eating/digesting must get something moving! I can go three times in the space of 20 mins - first time will be 'normal' second time might be a real struggle, then third time like diarrhoea. (it's not the nicest of subjects, but someone else might be reading who can get something from it too, but may not like to ask!) Certain fruit and veg in combo set off the really bad griping pains/vomiting for 24 hrs, but fortunately over the years I've learned to mostly regulate that side of it by watching what foods I eat and when.

The psyllium husks are a form of soluble fibre. This bit's from Wikipedia....

Psyllium seed husks also known as ispaghula, isabgol, or psyllium, are portions of the seeds of the plant Plantago ovata, (genus Plantago), a native of India. They are hygroscopic, expanding and becomemucilaginous. Ayurveda recommends its use for colon cleansing/ bowel regulation as well as for better blood circulation.
Psyllium seed husk are indigestible and are a source of soluble dietary fiber. They are used to relieve constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, anddiarrhea. They are also used as a regular dietary supplement to improve and maintain regular GI transit. The inert bulk of the husks helps provide a constant volume of solid material irrespective of other aspects of the diet or any disease condition of the gut. Some recent research is also showing them to be promising in lowering cholesterol and controlling diabetes.[SUP][1]

So it looks like it might work whichever side of the IBS joys you suffer with!

My local health store owner takes it for her diverticulitis. I reckon my symptoms have improved by about 90% since I started taking it.

You can get it over here from some chemists and from health stores, also on Amazon - doubt whether you'd get it from a supermarket, but not looked. I paid £4 (English pounds sterling) for a pack, which seems to be going on for ever!

Sorry about your gain hun don't give up hope you can do this keep logging your food which looks fab by the way and we will guide you the best we can xxx

Thanks hun.. I won't give up watching my intake completely as I don't want to gain back all I've lost.. But need to find a plan that gets things going again (weight I mean... Just clarifying because of the above subject also going on lol)
Have just printed a sh1t load of info on a Low GI plan which I'm going to go thru and see if that will help.. Seems plain n simple really.. Almost what I've been doing but without weighing and measuring.. Might look into Slimming World too.. and I'll attack google when I can so I can make an informed decision...
You should be enjoying your time away.. not on here worrying about us :)

I have THE cutest puppy IN the world..
Went home at lunch to feed him, and did.. obv...
Than I was giving him a rub n a cuddle and picked him.. Then I said, obviously not expecting a response or anything in return, "Give Mammy a hug" And he did.. He put a paw around either side around my neck, n tucked his head right in between my jaw n shoulers.. Then started licking my face... CUTEST EVER!!!

My dog does that too!! I love it, it's so adorable :) xx

Sorry to hear about your gain. Doesn't sound deserved at all. I know first hand how frustrating the scales can be - from January to the end of June I didn't lose anything at all despite sticking to plan and trying pretty much every possible version of it - no weeklies, all weekiles, all activity points, no activity points etc etc. A couple of tweaks the nutritionist from my gym suggested seems to have done the trick. In the last 5 weeks I have had 4 losses and a STS, only lost 3lbs but that is MILES better than the rest of this year. So don't give up on the weight loss, you will get there. Its sometimes just finding what works for you as some of our bodies are pretty uncooperative with this weight loss malarky.

Stringer's hug sounds very very cute. I may have "squeed" slightly at that image.

Aww what a cute and clever puppy I hope he made you feel a little better!

As everyone says food looks fine so it'll just be the IBS my friend who has it can fluctuate like crazy with it sometimes gaining and sometimes losing a stone in a week (and they aren't very big to start with!!) hopefully it'll even out for you soon x

Hey honey,

I'm sure ur gain is just due to eddies last nite and pasta the nite before. But I know u must be getting frustrated all the same. :-(

When my IBS was bad (diarrhoea), I got put on fibogel. They sound like the husk sachets that were suggested. Mix with water and drink.
I know ur symptoms are the opposite but they just regulate in general so they may be of some use. I got mine thru prescription and they cost a bit but they worked! There may be a health store version tho that u may not need prescription for.

And stringer is just adorable!!! :)

Also, looked at houses. The one near children's hospital wud be soooo close to ur homes. Crazy! But if it's small and pokey not great for family home.
Harold's cross looks fab. I know how u feel when Its not in rite place but it's not totally in town... If its nice... :)

Anyway hon, enjoy weekend. :)
