From here to inskinnity! My mission to lose 13.5 stone!

Well, had EVEN more of an epic fail with the fast day. Went out tonight and after having the salad at Subway still felt absolutely starving, so ended up eating a cookie(11 syns) THEN came home and had pate (7 syns) on toast (hexb) and another hexa of babybel. I never eat that many syns when following SW normally, guess my blood sugar levels just got completely out of whack and I wanted to munch anything in sight. Feeling a bit fed up atm because rather than helping to boost my weight loss this week I've probably done the opposite! Still even with the extra food calories wise I had around 1300, but had 20 syns in total. Gah.

Anyway I'm drawing a line under the whole thing and starting afresh tomorrow. And yep, tomorrow is sill gonna be pizza night, I'm not going to punish myself for trying something new. Today has felt horrible, haven't been so out of control with food for 6 months, but on the plus side I've learnt some valuable lessons. And in reality I haven't hurt anything other than my pride. Huge respect to anyone who can manage a fast day, I'm clearly not in that head space yet.

Mrs Ginger - Yep that definitely happened to me - I can't do deprivation! Completely agree, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm still a long way off target and SW works. I need to just concentrate on getting on with things rather than all this tweaking. The high and low days work, just not the fasts, so gonna stick with that for now. Exercise will hopefully shake things up a bit for me too :)

Missk - Yeah I couldn't do the proper 5:2 with the 'feast' days. In reality I think you're meant to just eat your BMR on a feast day, so in my case around 2200 calories, but that seems like an awful lot when trying to lose weight! All in all I think SW is a lot more balanced, so long as you don't overdo the free food.

Kay - Thanks hun, as you can see it didn't go well, lol! Feel like I've learnt some valuable lessons though and I'm incredibly excited about having a yummy SW day again tomorrow!!

---

Well off to update my food diary for the day, what a bummer! Ah well, another lesson learnt! Line drawn, moving on

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (the line :D)

Ooh actually quite surprised, despite the extra syns today I've still got 44 left for the next 3 days. Not bad at all really, especially as pre-WI I tend to go pretty low syn! Feeling quite relieved. I know syns aren't the be all and end all of weight loss and calories count more, but at the end of the day I'm following SW. I want to try and stay within syns to make sure I'm making healthy choices. Although I went over on syns last week and still lost 4lbs, nutritionally I could have chosen healthier things, just like today.

Anyways, off to bed for me!

I reckon some kudos is in order for for even attempting the fast days! They are not easy! I've just started doing 2 a week cos I found that I was sabotaging my weight loss with weekend socialising so needed something structured in the week to pull me back...but as someone said earlier...if it isn't broken, don't fix it...you're doing fantastically well so far on sw...you've found something that works so lap it up! :):) night night xx

Thanks hun, I've got so much admiration for peeps who can actually manage the fast days. There are meant to be soo many health benefits from it. Maybe it'd get easier if I was closer to target. Anyway back to SW and what works for me, I need to stop chopping n changing things now and just enjoy the journey!

P.s now i really am going to bed, feet were freezin' so just grabbed a hot water bottle

I was doing 5:2 for a while when I was going through my phase of finding the right diet for me. It was hard, but I'd get through the fast days. My downfall would be that I'd overcompensate on the days where I could eat normally, but even when I didn't and on weeks where I did do it properly I didn't lose any weight at all! X

Intoxicate - yeah I think people have a lot of mixed results on it. Thank God for SW! :)

Took a new pic last night. I love before and now shots, really reminds me how far I've come.

You've got a fantastic figure! How tall are you? I'd say we look similar sized on your pics. I know I weigh less but I think you're taller xx

You were really pretty before but those pics really show how far you've come. Great motivation for you to keep going you've done brilliantly so far :) You're looking fantastic!! x

Loving the pics Bev, you look amazing and you can clearly see the difference. These pics look so good I can only imagine how good your target ones are going to look like. Such an inspiration to many :).

Aww thanks guys, you are all so lovely. Mrs Ginger I'm 5ft 9, but I have pretty big boobs which is why I think I look a bit smaller than I weigh.

Had a fab day today, visited both sets of parents and got the deposit for the wedding, eeek! Just got to wait for the cheque to clear but should be booking it soon as it does, woooopppp!!! :wow: It's amazing how we've been talking about it for around 6 weeks, but to finally know we can get it booked is fabulous! :)

This afternoon went to the cinema but couldn'y find anywhere to park, grrr! After driving around for 15 minutes we finally gave up and came home. Later found out there was an even at the arena over the road, so everyone had nicked the free cinema parking! Ah well, after seeing 12 years a slave last night I wasn't really in that much of a cinema mood anyway.

At ASDA I picked up a couple of tops in a size 16. They fit fine but I'll feel a bit more comfortable once I've lost another half a stone or so. Feels awesome to be able to buy a 16 in something though!

Treat night tonight and had yummy ASDA pizza, not too worried about it as all I ate in the day was a 280 calorie salad and a banana, so even if the pizza was 1000 calories (highly unlikely) and my berries and yoghurt 140 I'm looking at no more than 1500 cals for the day, not bad for a 'cheat' evening! Around 25 syns though so going to be super good the rest of the week. Want to get 2 100% SW days under my belt now before the big WI.

Tomorrow I'm gonna be cooking a recipe from the SW site, beef and bean hot pot bake. Should be pretty yummy and with this horrible freezing weather I really fancy something warm and hearty.

Week 26, Day 5 - Green
Breakfast - Banana
Lunch - Feta (hexa) salad with olives - 2 syns, mini babybel (1/2 hexa)
Tea - ASDA pizza with onions, sweetcorn, tomato and peppers - (25 syns -3 for 1/2hexa) -22 syns
Supper - mixed berries and muller, curly wurly - 6 syns (edit: added curly wurly later, I can't stop munching, arghhh!)
Total - 30 syns
Weekly syns - 91.5 syns

I've only got 7 syns left per day now 'till WI but I'll easily manage that, especially with the 1 syn hot pot tomorrow night. Hope everyone is having a fabby weekend!

Whoop whoop for size 16 :)

Yeah I've got little boobs so that probably explains it! I am just getting into 16s too I've got on my old size 16 denim skirt today over leggings and it fits without forcing a muffin top haha! Hubby says I look fit ; ) you need to go and do a primarni sweep now you're into lower sizes you will get loads for like 50 pound to tide you over and you won't mind replacing them as you get smaller!

Enjoy your pizza night lovely :)

Woo @ lovely comment from hubby! It's so nice when you get little comments like that. Chris was giving me a cuddle earlier and said how he didn't have to reach as far around me, it's just little things like that which really make your day! :)

It's AMAZING about the 16's but although I can get into some 16 tops, bottom half is still a size 22. Just can't wait to get my bottom half into those 18's and then I'm raiding Primarni! Like you say you can get loads of stuff for £50 or so, just got to try and hold out till then really. Well done on getting into the 16s without a muffin top, must be great to fit back into some of your old clothes.

Hope ya have a lovely weekend! Pizza was yummy :) xx

Wow Bev you've had a brill day :). Congrats on the deposit and being able to book your dream wedding soon, you must be over the moon :p, also another congrats for the size 16 tops amazing ! you must be well chuffed. I know when I started out, shopping used to be no fun, but as the weight starts to drop slowly it does get better, there are so many more trendy clothes in the smaller sizes. Hope your enjoying your pizza night.

I had a few questions, hope you don't mind answering, just wanted your opinion. I am in 2 minds about next week. I am almost 4 stones away from target and I'm losing about 1-2 lbs a week on average which I know is healthy, but can't help admit that I would like to pace things up a bit. So I am thinking of doing a week of low syns and cals and the red plan, mainly chicken salad all week long (a bit like Atkins, no carbs). I know its boring but I did this last year and lost about 4 lbs in a week. At present I am between 12-15 syns a day on the green plan and no exercise. I am returning to the gym next week so will be doing some body magic as well. The main point of my question is do you think I should do this when I'm nearer to target or should I start the low cal thing now ? Really appreciate your feedback Bev :).

Hey hun,

Ooh interesting question! I've never managed a full week on the red plan, but generally the weeks I do 3-4 red days I do get slightly higher losses. I guess you could do it kinda like a success express week where you have 2/3rds of a plate super free. The only thing I'd say is be careful about going too low with the calories, you don't want to find yourself feeling deprived like I did yesterday and then wanting to eat everything in sight!

The one warning I'll give is that I've done entirely low weeks (not crazy low but using half my syns and having around 900-1100 cals a day) where I've actually lost less than other weeks - 0.5lbs and 1lb. I'm not sure whether that's due to holding water weight before * week or the fact I slowed my metabolism down. Since then I've always mixed it up with a couple of high (1500-1800 cal) days in the week, but then again I'm obviously a LOT heavier than you and have a much higher BMR.

It's a tricky one isn't it? We all try to be happy with 1-2lbs a week but if you're anything like me you'll always crave that big number! I guess the worst that can happen is you try the low week and have say a 0.5lb loss, but on the other hand you could manage 4lbs or something. I just know how gutting it feels after really really trying and then getting that 0.5, is that a risk you're willing to take? Or would you prefer a much nicer food week with one of your regular losses?

Lots of people talk about the need to shake things up nearer to target. That last stone or so sounds like it's a real pain to shift. I'm definitely going to try and keep success express in the bag for as long as possible, but can't imagine using it for the odd week would hurt.

Congrats on the gym btw, you might find that actually slows down your losses at first. I was swimming quite a lot last year and didn't seem to get the results on the scale, anyway when I read more about it I learnt you can actually retain water while your muscles repair after exercise. It usually levels out after a few weeks though and obviously the benefits of exercise outweigh smaller losses for a couple of weeks. Anyway that doesn't seem true for everyone, the lovely Emma on here goes swimming a few times a week and had great losses from week 1.

Sorry for the huuuuge reply, I do have a tendency to ramble, lol. That's my twopenneth anyway, let me know what you decide. Would you be starting after this weeks WI on Tue? x

thanks so much for taking the time out to reply to my question Bev :), posting my reply in a bit, takes time typing, won't be long...........:D

I think your right, both options have a down side and I guess there is no guarantee if you have a low cal week you will have a great loss, our bodies work in different ways grrrrrr, if only there was a set formula ! :p I'm thinking of changing tactics from next week just to see how my body responds (after Tuesdays weigh in). One of my best months last year was in August, I want to duplicate what I did then. I got slimmer of the month and I lost 11.5lbs :). I was doing red and I drank 3l of water everyday. I also did gym 5 out of 7 days burning 500cals each session and did weights. My food was the same day in and day out, it got very boring but I stuck to it. Basically breakfast was x1 egg and x1 wm toast, and lunch was chicken salad and that was it no dinner. Bit like a fasting day but after day 3 I stopped feeling hungry, I think fasting does somewhat put the carb monsters to sleep. I guess you could say it was a bit like Atkins because apart from the x1 bread slice there was no carbs.

I am 1 stone behind where I was last year. I achieved 3.5 loss only to be back and 2.5 again  after being off plan whilst my sister came down from Texas over xmas and new year. Stupid me gained 1 stone . I guess I want to get myself back to where I was and I think it might need a kick start of some sort. I think I may try 1 week see how I go with my loss the following week, if it's between 3-4 lbs I will keep going for a month then stop take a break few weeks then resume again. What do you think ?

Kay xx

Hi,

Bev, I loved the first dress.

Kay, 5 days a week I swim 60 lengths a day and typically use anywhere between 3-10 syns a day. I would say I lose on average 2lbs a week. Quite often it's 2-3lbs but I would say you can't guarantee it - 2 weeks ago I only lost 0.5lb, which I was a bit gutted about, but then last well I lost 3lbs. While I am not exactly an athlete, I think 60 lengths a day (it works out at 4 3/4 miles a week) is quite substantial. I guess what I am saying is that you can (and most people should get a decent amount of) exercise as well as following the plan but it doesn't always equate to bigger losses. I would say I almost always get a loss of some sort and it's fairly constant but it can just as easily and for absolutely no reason be a small loss.
