Hey chick, thanks for your kind words!! Always working hard unfortunately lol!! But can't complain as just had a few days off in a row!! Had a wonderful weekend with my best friend from home who came up for the first time in absolutely years and brought her partner and 7 & 3 year olds!! It was so lovely as the weather was kind to us and we got to do lots of stuff which the kids adored!! Unfortunately the weekend didn't end so well as after they had all left Dai and I went to our good friend Bernard's caravan- his Mum had been staying with them there for the weekend- a very frail 6 stone lady with vascular dementia! She was changing into her PJs in the bedroom when we heard a thud and a scream! Bernard and I are both nurses and ran in to see to her- apart from a minor laceration to her shin she wasn't able to stand or move her left arm- we managed to perch her on the bed but we knew she'd broken something! We had to call an ambulance and it's turned out that she had fractured pelvis, neck of femur (hip) and shoulder!! We feel so guilty as we were there in the caravan but know we can't beat ourselves up about it- it could have happened in her own home when she was alone!! So Bernard went to the hospital in the ambulance with her and we had 3 kids overnight and most of yesterday! To top it all off little did we know that Dai's Dad had a fall yesterday too in his residential home, and had to go to A&E too, but he's home safe and sound now!! These parents are a blinkin worry aren't they!!!!

Anyway you got that job!!!!!! Congratulations! You must have impressed them in a big way! I know that you've been stressed out with your current job so I hope this one's more enjoyable and a positive challenge for you!!! Well done you!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Oh my word, eventful weekend isn't the word!!
Bless her heart, it's a good job both you and Bernard were there to help and recognise there was a problem.
Paul's mum had a fall the other week, no broken bones but she refused to walk for 2 weeks after. She also cut the back of her head, it was glued and no noticeable now but they don't know how she did it. We got the call when they discovered it but it's such a diff situation, can't blame them...just grateful she's ok.

Thanks about job, did get formal offer today....money do much better but holiday entitlement not what I thought it would be. It's no worse than where I am now but still disappointing when you expect more.
All in all though cant complain as the job, people, money and prospects are great :)

Just got weighed and lost another 1 lb, sitting in WW now waiting for leader to start talk lol.... Ahhh the joys of food again lol

Xx

I hope the plusses of the new job outweigh the minuses!! And you'll enjoy and appreciate those caravaning holidays all the more if you get less time off than you'd like! And go to more exotic places and have more spending money perhaps if you're on more money, or maybe you have to save for Matthew to go to Uni? If that's what he wants to do eventually?! I can't believe how blinkin expensive it is for people to do it, and I certainly don't know how people can do it for more than one child! We struggle to get to the end of the month and we havent even got kids! X

hey Hevs - hope you are okay babe xxx i know we have text but sending you a hug xx

Aw thanks Ellebaby you're such a sweetie! As predicted I felt much more positive this morning apart from having to go to work, but being in work really does put things into perspective and most days I'm inspired by people who have big health problems and just get on with it! You also hear lots of both heartwarming and heartbreaking stories from patients and their relatives that make me realise that as human beings we have the ability to get through anything! Went to see Bernard's Mum as she's in my hospital and wasn't overly impressed by the care she was getting but I guess I only saw a snapshot!

Anywayz, hope you're feeling sprightly and well today!

Lozza love and hugs xxxxx

Ya know what, the way things are going nowadays with jobs I think apprenticeships are the way to go! The boyfriend of one of my best friends is working for Ford in the engineering dept and is studying at the same time- he earns a modest wage now but in a couple of years should be on pretty good money but most importantly in a job he really enjoys! I think it's so sad that Uni graduates by the thousands are graduating and not getting jobs at the end of it in a field anything like the subject they actually studied! It's not easy out there these days! X

I know, we have graduate at my current company doing nothing that relates to their degree too......such a shame. They get paid 1/2 the salary of the other managers too!! Companies see it as cheap labour unfortunately :(

Just popping in Hev
To see how you and mum are doing ? xx

Hey Kals, thanks for popping in! I'll put the kettle on!! And I have some Kit-Kats in the cupboard- just one won't break the bank as they're only 5.5 syns each!!

Mum not too bad thanks apart from the usual tiredness after chemo- her last blood test (CA125) came back high which is unusual for her DURING a course of chemo, but what they tell her to concentrate on is her symptoms, which are basically much much better since the chemo started! The high blood result is likely to be due to 'active' cancer cells even though the tumour/s are shrinking! Which isn't good news as it asks the question what will happen when this course of chemo finishes in October/how quickly will the tumours grow back?!! She has a CT scan on Monday which will show a bit more!!

Thanks for asking chick XXXX

Hev ....just a visit
Hope things are going okay for you and yours hunny x

Hi hun, you're so loyal to your Minis pals and it's always so lovely to get a visit!! Thanks for popping by! I've run out of Earl Grey so I hope that Typhoo will suffice!! And there aren't any Kitkats this time, only Jaffa cakes so i'll arrange some on a plate for us!!

In Exeter now but heading back tomorrow! Mum was in hospital since Tuesday but came out this morning! Long story but the long and the short of it is that she's had 2 endoscopies to investigate the reason for a gastric bleed she had last week which made her very poorly! It's stopped now and she's right as rain- well almost! But they don't know whether its an ulcer or a tumour! So they've taken biopsies yesterday and we all know how long these things take to come back! X

Your poor mum.... She really is going thought it Hev
I know Ulcers are not nice to have but let's hope when
the results come back it is that option and not tumours

Thanks Honey, you've been doing a lot of catching up by the looks of it! My F-in-Law is OK as he can be- he's 87 and in a residential home but it looks like he might need more nursing care so I think this will need to be reviewed/his needs reassessed in the near future! Bernard's Mum is recovering but she's so frail amd has dementia noone's really sure what her rehab potential is- she's now on an elderly rehab ward and the care seems to be of a pretty high standard. My Mum is just a mystery! They call ovarian cancer 'the silent killer' and it really is, because she's able to live a full life and feels well most of the time (when she's not undergoing chemo etc) or having pain from symptoms! But we know that eventually the cancer will overtake her! Anyway...let's think of some upbeat, cheery things now!! XxXxXxX

((( BIG HUGS ))) chica. You're having a tough time of things at the mo.

Cheery and upbeat? Now let me see. Other than the UK's splendid performance in the Olympics I'm struggling.
Anyone help me out here?

How about the kids nearly going back to school? Makes me cheery and upbeat!!!

staying the same this week, however, does nit make me cheery and upbeat. It makes me sad. But I'm not dwelling on it, I've been a very good siren so I know I don't deserve it!

Oh, apparently summer is coming back in September, cheery and upbeat again!!!!!

Oops, this post should clearly have been on the sirens page!!! It's late and I've got my threads muddled up.......sorry Hev!
