Goldilukes Diary of a food zombie

I am having trouble also, I certainly notice a difference when I eat more veg. And I know I should drink more water. It doesn't feel nice to be so stuck though eh Lauren. I do find that to listen to Dana Carpender's podcasts can be interesting and motivating. Not a podcast but Jimmy Moore talks about her books here LLVLC On YouTube: The Great Dana Carpender! (Episode 19) - YouTube

Here's Dana's site HoldTheToast! by Dana Carpender | Low Carbohydrate Blog and Books You can access her podcasts here or via iTunes.

I think sometimes, when you are feeling like things aren't going right, you just need to HEAR or READ inspiring things, something that will give a new perspective or new ideas. I hope this helpd Lauren. I find when I go looking for these things for other people, it helps ME too :D

Thanks for the links Lynne, I agree that when we help others it helps us. I did something similar with my YouTube channel, I was helping others with feeling down and it was like self medication for me too. Hope you are well?

Well done on finding something that works for you :) I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that coconut oils can vary in flavour/intensity according to brand - maybe see if you can find one with a milder taste?

Yep I agree, I always get inspired by other peoples stories - have a look through Jim's thread too, he lost an astonishing 12 stone, and has changed his life around.

Re the park issues, please go and talk to your GP - but also do get the spinach down you, and maybe try psyllium husk tablets, as recommended by Dr Atkins. And drink lots of water.

I tried to read through Jim's a few times but I never seen any posted menus, I feel I need them from a diary so I can see where I'm going wrong and see what works for others.
im parking fine now, had driving lessons in coconut oil and treadmill ;) I hate coconut oil now, gag reflex kicks in big time but I just pour it down anyway I can hidden in frothy coffees. 2 tbs and I'm fine each day for the past few now :)

Coconut oil is supposed to have laxative qualities.... It works for me x

hi sadie, yes I used to drink bps all the time and had great results for regularity but then got to a gagging point where I couldn't face any more. I'm back on heavy doses of the co now and it's working great!

Morning susie :)

i have read that too, I have tried a few out but the tiana brand is the only one I can stand as some of them I've found very soapy and chemical tasting :(
@how are you?

Morning everyone, sickening post coming up but after reading my diary for the past week it's overdue :) 10.2 on the nose today :) :) :) :)

its going back in the right direction, I've sorted my parking issues out so far and I'm more motivated than ever before.
I'd still kill for some chocolate but I think it would kill me if it got me so I've stayed clear and I got caught out with sweet tooth the other day and made cream, stevia, unsweetened cocoa powder and vanilla flavouring whipped mix and it did the trick. Funny after taste though...hmmm

oh and I've stopped treating myself to something on a night time, I realised after watching obese a year to save my life that you don't have to have a treat, the treat should be feeling amazing and wearing better fitting clothes, getting out more, doing more exercise and as much as I'm lazy and don't want to admit it....I'm going to ignore naughty Lauren and behave :) I have been exercising daily now doing treadmill running, abb crunches, sit ups, squats, lunges, bridge, star jumps, boxing moves with my hand weights and I can allergy feel my stomach firmer...seriously not sure if I'm imagining t because my muscles are in agony but...I do feel firmer hmmm will keep it up.

menu yesterday

B 2 nespressos with coconut oil - only drinking the nespressos on a morning to hide and get the coconut oil down because they are frothy. The rest of the day have had kenco Costa Rican with soya cream.
L lettuce, Italian leaf, half tin tuna, mayo
D fillet steak, cabbage greens, mayo
S 25g x 2 vintage cheddar, half pack ox tongue.
water at least 4 litres :)

2 tbs coconut oil 1 in each nespresso, lungo size so not much to get down :)

i have noticed something about myself, I am great and strong once I get going but before getting going i am weak and lazy. I need to keep this up as much as I can because breaks do me no favours.

hope you are all well?

Great news Lauren, well done, girl!

Re the chocolate, try making some bark - it's cocoa powder, sweetener (I use hermesetas, it has the nicest flavour and is the liquid is allegedly carb free) and coconut oil - and flavouring! I've made peanut butter cups using little choc moulds, and also rose flavoured choc - my very own Turkish delight :)

Thanks susie :)
I've made coconut bark before and it's too coconutty for me, I'm not keen. I do however love experimenting with different flavourings, I made rose one was lovely. Can I have your peanut butter cup recipe please?

4 tblsp coconut oil
1 tblsp cocoa
1 tblsp peanut butter
1 tsp liquid sweetener

Mix the ingredients in the warm oil, pour onto a foil lined shallow plate, put it in the freezer for about 1/2 hour and break it up.

Thank you I will give it a try :)

Morning everyone,

I can't express how happy I am today.....woke up early after going to bed at 2am ( was watching biggest loser :) sooty our naughty black pug decided to have a good bark this morning at 7 and set all the dogs off gahhh....but anyway decided to get up since I was awake and weighed myself........I am officially 9.13.6 it's still sinking in, tried to take a photo but my iPhone added the ounces up to 10 stone so I just have to keep at it until I can add the iPone ounces in and still be 9 something.....I need a photo of this as its felt illusive for weeks now :)

9 stones, 13 lbs, 6 ounces. Wow I am so pleased with myself.

yesterday I took a long walk out and really enjoyed it, planning on keeping this up as much as possible because I believe the fresh air perked me right up.
4 days in now to all my exercising and walks. Must remember to keep going and my biggest worry is Tom because that's when I get headaches and I find it excruciating exercising with a pounding head. This is what broke my very good cycle last time so need to be prepared and work through it.

took measurements last night and here they are compared to July 13th
waist 37-3/4
hip 41-1/4
thigh 22
boobs 37-1/4
arm 11

14th August
w 33 1/2 but that's about inch above navel, I'd always measured across navel before.
h 40
t 22
b 36 3/4
a 11

im wondering which arm exercises to do to get rid of bat wings and which leg moves to get rid of inner thigh fat? On the outside I can feel tone and muscle but insides wobble.
Have been enjoying doing my stomach crunches with legs down, up, angled etc. lunges kill me but I'm getting better and I can only stay in bridge position for what feels like 30-40 seconds....it's a killer.

menu yesterday same as day before :)

i will probably go back up over 10 stone, it always works this way with my weight pattern but in the past when I've seen the number on the scales and actually been there I feel more confident of getting there again...it's very strange and can take a good two weeks to settle at the new weight so that will probably be what will happen.

i tell you what I've observed and am absolutely scared of after watching obese a year to save my life and biggest loser, they lose so much weight but gain super fast. Before starting the diet they say put a stone a year on, after the diet they can put that stone back on in one week to a month....that's made me think is it because our stomach is like a balloon? We eat slowly and gradually gain weight until the stomach is stretched, you know when blowing a balloon up there is a point where it's hard then boom it's expanding and filling up? Well when your body gets to that point I believe that's why we gain so much back if we cheat even just for a week, because the body remembers and you've now got a bigger balloon to use without having to try hard to get past that boom point.

Sorry if I've lost you all at this point but I just observe quite a bit and find it all fascinating so wanted your thoughts?

Hope you all have a great day!

Fab news on hitting the 9st region, I agree, seeing it on the scales really motivated and spurs me on too!!

As for stomach balloon theory... Could be but I am told that when you reduce your portions our stomach can shrink too!?

My theory (just based on my opinion, I have no medical training) is that your body, over years, gets used to eating 3000 calories (or whatever) and when dieting your body does go somewhat in to 'starvation' mode. So when you cheat or go back to old way of eating, body thinks, "great, pile it on in case she decides to starve us again."

I don't know, maybe we also eat much more than before (eg. Oh, I've missed nougat and ciabatta bread, scoff scoff, and I haven't had crisps and popcorn, more scoff), as before dieting we didn't feel deprived and ate relativity languidly. I speak of personal experience!

That is why we have to look at dieting as a way of life, I believe, and why vlcd and appetite suppressants, etc. They are short term cures that treat the symptoms and not the cause. I have now finished, anyone else wanna use my soap box ? :D x

Woohoo Lauren, well done on the 9s hun!!!!!!:clap::clap:

I think there's some truth in what you both say - but I also think a lot of people go mad when they go off their eating plan and just go straight back on the old habits, eating loads of the stuff they think they've been denied and pile on the pounds.

Btw, made the bark to Susie's recipe today, sans peanut butter today. Twice. First time put into too much hermesetas (spl) and it tasted awful, also not 'chocolaty' enough for me at ratio 1:3 so doubled up on that too (I used 2tbsp of Cadbury bournville cocoa (which came to 10g) which is only 1g carbs of).

Lauren, about the bark being too coconutty, how abut using cocoa butter instead of coconut oil? Will give better results as actual butter from cocoa plant. Might buy some and try it, i think that's how they make white chocolate, with cocoa butter.

Thanks :) yes I agree on the stomach shrink theory but..you know if you let a balloon down after its been blown to its max its easily filled back up, whereas if it had never been pushed to max in first place it would be harder to get past that blowout point...hmmm it's exciting and interesting trying to figure out whats what.

agree completely on the vlcd, great for short time but if you a not mentally ready it's a scary path.

Morning susie, thank you :) :)
very true on going crazy after dieting for most of us, after weeks or months of doing without its like rebellion but takes you right back to the start or even worse. Scary isn't it? :(

Ive got some raw cacao butter and cacao powder which I could use for this but there is just something evil tasting about the whole lot mixed with co and sweetener....it ain't sugar so tastes lab made and after tasting blerghhhh.
