Helen's quest for good health!

Saw my consultant today after waiting months as he was off sick having injured his hip! Had more X-rays, he read my report from Harley Street and said perhaps I did actually have a labral tear after all as well as anterior impingement! He is sending me for another MRI scan and I have to keep a pain diary to see if the fluoroscopy helps before he decides if I need arthroscopy but thinks its likely. Said although I was quite blasé last year it's because I didn't expect it to be going on so long and now the pain was daily I'm getting fed up.

So much for getting back to the gym he's now said not to! I'm thinking if I do swimming or even just cycling which is gentle it should be okay x

I've started listening again but keep forgetting to write down my positives, I really should start again x

I think I've done your homework for you :D

Helen's positives:

1. Spoke to Mark about binging and felt better for it.

2. Left M&M's in the shop after reasoning with myself they weren't worth it and I didn't really want them.

3. Consultant appointment went well overall.

4. Am listening to the pods again.

5. Lisa did my homework ;) (joking x)

OMG that could be me! I just can't stop and I would have done the same with the fajitas as you did, Mark seems to be able to get away with eating anything but he knows when to stop even when he's being naughty.

Mine stems from people going on about my weight when I was a kid and me secretly scoffing was my defence mechanism, I think to a degree my sister is the same. I'm going to start the Slimpods again, I struggle always to get my positives down as I said to Lisa above but they've worked wonders on others so perhaps you could try them too.

This afternoon I popped to shops and there were sweets and chocolates haunting me everywhere, I was standing in a queue trying to reason with myself why it was acceptable to buy a packet of M&M's, I thought I'd keep them in the cupboard and share with Mark, I even looked at back trying to work out how many syns thinking it would magically say 5.0 or something! Then I thought don't be stupid, I know if I buy them I will open them in the car and will just eat them all in about 30 seconds without even tasting them.. I left them at the shop.. It was easier!

I've been thinking it might be good to try and arrange my syns so I can have a treat everyday as then I won't feel like I'm depriving myself but its whether I'll be able to stop or not. Managed to have a ww caramel wafer last night and stopped at one but that's because Mark was sitting there with me and when he had a bath he got me to come upstairs and talk to him (keep an eye on me lol!).

There's a binge eating thread on here that was started that you might be interested in as I know you're like me! X

I am the same, my mum was always in a diet and was always going on at me, my dad use to (and still does when we have dinner there) watch everything that I put on my ate and used to eagle eye the amount of butter I put on my toast - for me it was a defiance thing, so I would put extra on when he wasn't looking like an 'up yours dad look at what I'm eating' type of thing' my sister always ate (and still does) tiny portions and my brother was always sporty - it was just me and mum and although I am bigger than her and have been for years, she struggles and admitted to me that dad does the same to her and she misses the fact she I'd retired now because thats when she used to eat what she wanted at lunchtimes.

Like you I go into supermarkets when mick is away and will spend hours walking around picking up my desire foods and then walking back around putting it back, which i never used to, i would just eat whatever i wanted and was so happy whilst i was eating - so although I do put them back I am still torturing myself - On a few occasions I have bought the goodies and then had a change of heart and chucked them straight in the trash bins! What a waste of money!

Bless mark, what a sweet person he seems to be and I know you are struggling today but tomorrow may be easier.

I just wish that one day food will not be number one on my list.

Xxx

As for the chocolate, apparently it like trying to stop smoking? If you can give up for three weeks then the cravings should have subsided?

I wish it was just chocolate.. I'd have to give up food completely! Don't think I could manage 3 weeks though.. Can't manage 3 mins lol! X

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't your mum start SW recently? How's she getting on?

Well done on throwing things away, I know it's a waste of money but its a good start.

Mark is so lucky, I got him through a bad place in his life almost 10 years ago and now he's looking after me.. He said not to get used to it though as he needs me pushing him round in a wheelchair and wiping his bum when he's old.. I'm 14 years younger than him!

Apart from the sweets, and I feel good having avoided them, I'm in a good place today x

Our Lisa's good isn't she?! X

Well I've spent hours and hours in the kitchen today, seems to be the washing up that's the most tedious as usual, now chillaxing in the bath.. At least I can't eat in here.. Well I could give it a go!

Have made a chilli, lasagne, mackerel pate, marinated lamb for tomorrow lunch, made tonight's dinner and also a cake for Mark to take for a cake sale.. Good job I'm under syns as I licked the bowl clean naughty naughty!

I saw the mussels I had for lunch a while back in the SW magazine so thought I'd buy them and they were delicious, will definitely do again but can't actually believe the syns are so low.

Wednesday 24th October - Red day (off)

Breakfast: 35g all bran golden crunch (HEB), banana, ff vanilla yogurt

Lunch: aldi mussels (2.5), ww petit pain (HEB)

Dinner: chicken breast with parma ham (2.0), wholegrain mustard (0.5), 45g mozzarella (HEA), bns chips (thanks Emma for the idea mmm), roasted red onion wedges, BBQ sauce (2.0)

Snacks: 3x slices of ham (better than chocolate I suppose!), 45g mozzarella (HEA), passion fruit, plum

Drinks: squash

Total syns: 7.0 (plus whatever a lick of a cake bowl is!)

I just put salt on them, they are a little sweet and the first time I had them I didn't like them, but they seem to have grown on me :D
