Ireland- bia- a bit of craic!

Glad you got on here Blathnaid, I'm from Athlone and I do believe there is only one group in Cork, pity you cant get to group as this is what keeps me going, sure maybe you will be so successful that you might even set up your own group, I do know they are having open days (usually in the Hilton Hotel in Dublin) if anyone is interested in becoming a consultant. I have to say I couldn't do this on my own but at least your here and if you have any questions feel free to ask, that is what we are all about.

Have a look at the recipes page and see if any take your fancy, I think the recipe for the soup is in the winter recipes but if not then I will post on to you, this is my life saver, I find whenever I have two of them for a week then my weight loss is big, give it a try anyway

Thank you Orla for directing me over here! The names Blathnaid. I based in Cork. I'd like to lose four stone over the next twelve months. I'm trying SW online, so hoping I can get some of the recipe swapping and tips sharing here to make-up somewhat for the lack of a group. Looking forward to getting to know you all better! :)

Welcome blathnaid!! My friend is doing it online too because there's no group near her so I send her recipes all the time! Minmins is great for different ideas!

Welcome blaithnaid! Finding it so hard. Really think its the weather. Was up at 5.20 this morning with the kid's. Then put a hoodie on and got stung by a wasp on my arm. It was hiding in the sleeve. My arm was so sore and I was feeling sorry for myself I started tucking into the sweets for trick or treat.

Im hoping weather wont be as bad as forecasted for tomorrow. Going to Dublin city marathon to support my husband.

Anyone else got anything nice planned for tomorrow?

So sorry Redster to hear you didn't have the greatest start to the day. I hope your better after that sting and that you enjoy the Marathon tomorrow. I got out for a walk today, despite the weather! I'm delighted to have made a start there as I've been concentrating on diet so much the last week and looking up recipes that I hadn't managed to fit in any walk.
And your right Orla, only one group in Cork as far as I could see and that is in Youghal. I feel I'm in the right mind-frame to make changes though, so I hope with some support on here I won't miss a group too badly. I got the recipe for the soup from the introductions page, and I'm definitely going to give that a try. I have been on steroids twice in the last twelve months due to asthma and it led to a weight gain of two and a half stone. When I weighed under twelve stone, my GP was telling me to lose weight due to my asthma - so I really have to do something after hitting fifteen stone. I used to be great for hill walking, but I let the car go for financial reasons in the last twelve months, and I think that has also had an impact on my weight. I'll just have to find walks I enjoy closer to home!
And hi to you too Kinakk! How is your friend getting on with the online SW?
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better!

Hi everyone!! sorry i have been MIA my baby been teething so he been up all night n i was catching up on sleep alot!
nothing new with me! been bad this week! was great right up to saturday and thats when it all went down hill!
i get weighed tonight and hopefully i stay the same!

All it takes is one thing to happen and put our healthy eating plan out the door, typical isnt it but I have to say my mindset has changed and that is because I changed it in my head, my philosophy is now how can I work out a way to make things work for my diet rather than how can I fit my diet into ordinary every day living and this works for me. I know that sounds selfish but if Im not healthy then it can restrict what I do in my everyday living.

In saying that, my plan has been 100% all week and for the last few weeks too but Im on tablets at the moment that may be affecting my weight (Im now taking twinnings double mint sensation which is supposed to be good for getting rid of fluid retention and weigh in day this evening) so I just have to accept this and keep sticking to the plan, eventually all this hard work will pay off I reckon and I will have a huge loss fingers crossed.

Mrs Mc1987, don't worry about it, there are things we cant control and once your little boy is okay again then you can restart, that is the beauty of slimming world, we are normal people and sometimes we fall but then we get back up again and with the support we have here (especially the Irish thread - yes it is my favourite thread) we can be of support and help each other.

Blathnaid, I can see your very focused and determined to do this, you have made the move to post your story here and thank you for sharing it with us, I love to see what has motivated people to join slimming world. Cork is such a big county and only one group there, it seems mad but maybe one day you will be a success and be able to host your own group as a consultant, you just never know. In my own group I have made some amazing friends, we have a common thread and one night I was out with the consultant at one of the members surprise 40th (not my own) and I said you probably dont want to talk shop and she said to me thats all she wants to talk about, she loves talking about it and me too

Morning everyone, welcome Blathnaid.
:welcome2:

I've not been online this weekend, I was on the wine instead
:party0036:
Had a brilliant time, though my head wasn't as cheerful yesterday morning. I've more or less stopped drinking wine since starting SW, so my tolerance has obviously decreased! I've noticed my food choices aren't as bad as they would have been- before SW I'd have eaten rings round me with a hangover, yesterday I went over my syns on pizza, but I don't pick at stuff between meals any more. I am taking that as a victory (scraping the barrel hahahaha! )

Anyway, I fully expect not to have a loss this week, but I am drawing a line under it and moving on.

Redster- hope your sting is ok, they can be so painful. The time change has me fecked, so I imagine with kids it's a nightmare.

Mrs Mc1987- hope your wee man has improved x

Have a good (short) week everyone

Thanks for asking my Sting is still sore, turns out I had an allergic reaction but on the mend.

I am hoping to lose a stone by Christmas and yesterday just thought oh my god it nearly November. Have to get my head back in it so this morning I have been looking up recipes.

I was so proud of my hubby yesterday he ran the Dublin City Marathon in 3.35. i could not get over the support that people were giving and it was so inspiring. I would love to be able to even run 5k. I think I would give myself whiplash if I tried but maybe one day I will get there. At the moment going walking as much as I can is enough. Going to get back into hula hooping again I found it was really helping my waist.

What exercise does everyone else do?

I do a big fat zilch.

I have good intentions to go walking, but never do it. I also have an illness which can make walking awkward (not impossible though, that's just laziness!). I'm really determined to get my 2 stone by Christmas, and then with less pressure on my poor knees I'll go walking from January.

I do like swimming though, so I am hoping to do more of that. Bit of a trek to the pool from here, but it's so worth it.

i try to walk but i either do too much r not enough!! im starting zumba this week! it helped me the last time i did sw!

I do a lot of walking, love my morning walk (never thought I would say that) but that is all I do

YAY!! 1lb off!! its better than nothing! need to get back on track to have a stone off by xmas!

I go to my slimming world fitness class on Mondays and then I go to the gym and work out for 40-60 minutes most days! A year ago I wouldn't have lifted my arse off the couch unless it was for the fridge! When I started slimming world I didn't exercise at all till I lost 3 stone! Then I felt paranoid that I'd have excess skin and needed to tone up so I went for a 40 minute walk everyday but now it's dark in the evenings I'm not comfortable going on my own so I joined the gym!

Haven't being online here much, but have being continuing with SW.

going easy on myself this week though. had some changes in my life, that I knew were coming, but still... decided that the diet could go on the backshelf for a few days.

But already had booked next monday as a holiday from weigh in, so it's back on plan for now.

Can really see changes in my body since I started. Clothes that wouldn't fit me when I started are now too big. Still have a few pounds to go to get into next size down, but should be there in a couple of weeks. And in the meantime, I just have to wear trousers that really need braces :)

Only 11 lb to go to target.

Hi Maria, I hope everything is ok with you :) sometimes you just have to go easier on the diet.

How is everyone else? Izzy how are you?

My son's birthday is tomorrow and he is having a party. He has asked for Mario cake so I weighed a few days earlier to stop me picking while im baking if that makes sense.

We have so much treats from Halloween but so far have resisted and started weighing everything and keeping a record and was 3lbs down :) in 13's now yipee.

Back from Italy - what a holiday!
Also started new hours in my job, which are a bit nicer, and give me a bit more of my life back. Today is my first weigh-in post-holiday. Won't be surprised if I'm up, but I know it'll come off when I get back into things.

Good luck
