Izzyhew's dizzy start to diet......

yeah, and a summer with my eldest might make me grateful for going back to work hahaha

haha you might be right i will have to entertain mine for 5 weeks after we get back from hols  hope the weather is good makes it soooo much easier! xxx

we're not going anywhere on hols with me being on mat leave, we're currently spending our savings lol. Planning on having day trips though which is enough for me really.

So far on my mission I have...... dusted the living room, baba is awake again so the rest will have to wait!

You have a great day too Dizzy xxx

I forgot I also have the washing machine on already too, but tragedy has struck!!!!!!!!!!!!!:argh:

I was going to try to make a choc scan bran cake.... but we only have 1 egg left

but it's ok, baby ninja just had a snack, about to have his milk and then we can pop to the shop, Fear not my friends all is not lost!

eggs purchased and cake made, not overly keen actually but it's not too bad, just wouldn't say it's nice enough to use syns for, but I will eat it lol just had 3 syns worth with a ff yog.

I've finished the Buffy dvd boxset, was thinking I might rewatch the game of thrones box sets that I have next, maybe lol.

I raked out the red dress I was on about the other day that I might wear to my cousins wedding, I tried it on and I can actually just get the zip up lol. It does sit a little wrong though but I'm hoping if I can lose 7-14lbs by the end of september it should make a difference to how it sits and how comfortable it feels. I was shocked I could get the zip up to be honest......

But here's the deal I am really quite rubbish at being a woman, the whole 'dress' thing I am crap at deciding if it looks ok or not, and lack the confidence to step out in it, partly because people will be surprised to see me in a dress so will pay more attention lol. So does it look good enough to wear? The photo's are taken in a mirror so not the best but hopefully enough for you guys to get an idea.

Hi Claire, welcome to my diary :)

Thank you Dizzy, I think it's just a confidence thing really, I spend my life in trousers mostly. I don't mind my boobage it's fine, my tummy has suffered significant sag with 2 pregnancies and being overweight though lol. I have one of those under the bust body shapers that I might wear with it though it's one of those that smooths the shape without feeling uncomfortable.

I love the colour and I like the detail in the top half and the neck line. It's just *me* in a dress lol. Got married in a long one but I was 6 months pregnant then so somehow felt ok about being frumpy because I knew I had a baby strapped on at the front lol. I do sometimes wear a long skirt, but Izzy in a dress is a real rare sight. The thing is I'm not sure that's what I want anymore, I keep looking at some of the lovely maxi dresses available just now and keep wondering if I could wear one! I should drag my best mate into town and get her opinion as she is always honest.

I'll maybe try it on nearer the time with shoes etc as well and see how it feels. Hubby is good at boosting my confidence although I do suspect he would say I looked good in a bin bag, bless him.

there is just something different about a dress isn't there Dizzy?

I see some other women out sometimes wearing things and think how lovely they look and they are not always slim women either, some people just seem to have a real knack of being able to dress and look good for their shape. I've never had that knack but then I've almost always just felt like a short stump lol.

I think it looks fab hun! i am like you, i don't wear dresses often.... well never really..... i would love to though and seeing you do it has inspired me! Of course i will actually have to purchase one first as i don't have any  not even sure what size i would need so that woud mean trying on too :sigh: xxxxxxxx

Thanks Lynne :) Have you thought about some long skirts? I found that transition easier I have a long A-line denim one that is easy to wear and because it's casual it's comfy and not a big step out of my comfort zone. I also have a similar skirt but it's made out of fabric like combat trousers and has some similar detailing with pockets and stitching so again it's casual and quirky rather than super feminine. I need to wear those more now I've discovered I can just squeeze into them.

My wardrobe is lacking greatly in dresses, barring my (maternity) wedding dress, this is the only one I have, you may see from the picture it still has the tag on it and I'm trying to work out how long I have had it. I bought it for a party I was going to and I can't remember it was either before I met my husband or not long after so I'm guestimating I have had it for around 4 years, and the only ones to see it are myself and you guys!

I'm only 5ft 3 so feel like a weeble with the excess pudding I'm carrying round......I often think if I was taller I could carry off more things like dresses. It does have a lot to do with confidence I reckon......and somewhere along the way I think I packed my confidence away and sent it to the charity shop with my small clothes

there are a few of us shorties on here lol, but height is proportional surely? I think it's more to do with being able to find something in a style that suits your shape - where the same rules apply regardless of height - and being able to find it cut properly for your size and therefore actually fit.

How often are people like us sat there taking up hems? and if it's cut for a taller person other details are then in the wrong place, waist, underbust darts etc. I wish I had time and patience and I would make my own. I have the basic ability and my mum would sort me out with the rest lol.

I've no skirts either! but i could try them also! Pre children i did wear things like that but then as my waist line grew my confidence shrunk and i stuck to jeans and leggings more so leggings than anything else, not sure when i will comfortably make the transition back to 'normal' clothes.

I am now also going to have to search for a dress in a quicker timescale than first expected! I have just received an invite to a hen night in august and the wedding reception in september! xxxxx

That's one thing I miss my lovely MIL for....she trained as a seamstress from school so anything I needed doing - she could! :)
I'm not a fan of clothes shopping (I get frustrated balancing looking at stuff too) so I've taken more to getting stuff online, NEXT petite range are great for us shorties....and everything is in proportion properly not just the length

Shopping bores me really, other than online. Loads of shops nowadays tend to all sell similar stuff, and then you traipse around trying stuff on, it's time consuming, often demoralising, and a pain- quite literally possibly for you.

Online is ace, you can park your bum, have a cuppa and browse whatever you like and order it, try it on in the comfort of your own home, and sometimes for returns you don't even have to go to the post office. I love it lol. Also online you can get a much more diverse range of stuff whereas most shops just sell whatever is in fashion at that time.
