Have a look on GNER website. If you can get across to any station that runs on the main north eastern line from london to scotland, it shouldn't be too dear. They do deals for £19.50 London to Scotland and return and you could just jump off in Newcastle....

Oh you've well sold it....only problem is I've no bloody money!!! Flights, accomadation & spends are just out of my league right now, oh and a babysitter!!....maybe next time!

Just popped to have a look at this as I am near stansted and flights can be really cheap if you book at the right time.

Mich have you thought about checking the price of flights from Brum?

Just had a look at flights from BHam to the Toon - they are only just over a grand each going via Amsterdam.....LOL don't think so some how.....I'd rather hitch!

Don't worry - the only thing stopping me will be snow - mmmm but then I could have a sledge and a couple of huskies to pull us.....LOL
