Jaqys - dusting off the diary

Work is a bit crap at the moment. And so the temptation to reach for the vino is strong, especially on a friday and on a day like yesterday (resisted but went to nandos for tea and ate more skin than I should but I'd only eaten a yogurt all day) when I worked late and had a bazillion things buzzing in my head.

I need a new habit for a bad day. When starting Dukan I only drank on social occassions and I've no idea how I was handaling bad days, maybe it was conincidentally a really good time to be dieting.

I've broken so many habits with this diet but things are creeping back in and I need to stop it if I want to get to goal by the shortest route.

mmm i get you I have days where I think buggar it .....and at the start had all the weekend partys .....
I get more down if i sts dont we all ......ive now said to my self i can have this that and the other at each goal helps , but there are still times i could fall off the wagon !!!!

ive got 2lbs to go to my 4stone off mark and i know roughly where a i want to be for xmas .....and then im going to have a nice xmas and attack again after ....I just wont get on the scales for at least a week after lol

Being at my parents means I wont have 'my' scales over xmas, cant be a bad thing. I dont want to be stressing over food and weight at the only time I get to spend time with my family without us all rushing here and there.

Friday I had popcorn, it was delishous, I loved having something salty and crunchy, didnt eat it all (film was quieter than expected) and chucked away the remainder rather than taking it home.

Then had a bit of an atkins weekend, but my stomach objected, no bad thing. So I'm happily back on dukan, no going off path until xmas, unless its for an already planned social occassion.

Although when i have multiple off plan meals planned in a week I think I'll pv on the inbetween days to limit the dukan flu and I'll just have to deal with the hunger.

good idea Jaq re the scales - not sure if i could cope though! although maybe will stop the binge cycles i have? what did you have on your atkins weekend?

Had some fattier meat (which is what caused the stomach issue), small bit of cheese, veg, nothing too exciting but enough to stear me back here. Cleared the indecision out of my head so was a worthwhile exercise.

I think stepping away from the scales is a good thing for those of us who are totally addicted. I am sure that a lot of behavioural issues come from wanting to see the right numbers on the right day on the scales, by whatever means... I admit that I got on them today... duh!

Jo have you changed your target to 10 stone 8?

Gosh you have a good memory!! Yes Vicky... Seeing that the 10 stone 7lbs target had been a waste of time this year (I've been "trying" all year...), I thought I'd change the number to see if my luck changed! (Also, back in 2003 my goal was 70K, then 67.5K, so thought I'd go back to that...).

How's it going Jaq?

Morning Jaqys

I'm doing okayish.

As said on menu thread breakfast is an issue right now, I'm substituting coffee for food which isnt good, I just can face muffins/egg/yogurt in the morning at the moment.

Last night had a fail having a teaspoon or 2 of peanut butter after dinner, mostly through lack of anything sensible in the house
(end of the month shop trying to be super frugal).

But mostly I'm motivated to be on track and will not 'allow' myself not to be. I'm accepting I may well go nuts over Xmas and am thinking of allowing myself a bunch of things outside the christmas meal treats. Afterall it will be my birthday too.

However I know it was(is!) a struggle to focus again after my holiday so its a risk.

Jaq - how come you struggling with brekkie hon?

that is strange Jaq cos I was working out on my way to work how to handle breakfast in England... as I'll be out of ketosis anyway, I'm thinking of going back to an old favourite - 1/2 grapefruit! Perhaps some other fruit too. My sister, doing her own thing, has fresh fruit for breakfast. Which then leaves my muffins for another potentially more difficult moment of the day...

I'm taking them with me... I'm baking in advance, and freezing in portions... then other half will bake in advance last few days for me. Those I bring that are "frozen" can defrost en route, and the more recent ones I'll take unfrozen to freeze on arrival!

Best way I've found to get muffins to England! (coals to newcastle?!)

What's happening at work Jaq?

Not been off work no. Its just super busy, with lots of pressure from lots of places and not being able to do a good job.

That sounds a good plan Jo. Over christmas I'm planning on scrambled egg a lot, take advantage of there being a microwave to use. Might make some muffins too.

Enjoyed having turkey burgers last night, made a change from beef though the mince is higher fat than the extra lean beef mince, much cheaper though so thats a win.

Stupid question for you Jaq - can you talk me through how you do your scrambled eggs in the microwave (temperature etc). Mine are always leathery so I've given up and get the pan out!

Jo - my scrambled eggs. Only put them in for around 30 secs then stir/whisk then only another 20-30 secs - i like mine creamy and runny ish :D keep checking - remember they still cook when out of microwave!

Seconded - keep checking every 30 secs and leave them out if you think 'one more 30secs should do it' I also add a splash of milk to start, but I guess everyone does that?

Sorry Jaqys! Diary hijack....

Breakfast. Yes getting bored myself - have started having Dukan bread sandwiches: spread with quark and put slices of meat in it. Or spread with the fudge sauce we've all been making. My favourite is still D porridge with cinnamon, and a nice dollop of 'creamy' quark, or yoghurt.

Turn the whole thing on its; head and have a proper meal: (japanese style?): soup, stir-fried chicken, fish... and scrambled egg. You'd probably need something quick and easy or that's been pre-prepared but apart from that...

Great advice re scrambled eggs... might give it a go a work one day... would mean walking to work with eggs in my backpack but I could break them into a tupperware!

I can't eat first thing, hence my looking for OFFICE breakfast ideas... sitting chewing on a chicken leg is so uncool... and when the phone rings, awkward!! haaa! (But I can't say that Anja's Japanese idea appeals... still, if we find the most HORRID breakfast, lunch and dinner imaginable, I might lose weight just at the thought!)
