Jaqys - dusting off the diary

aren't there three Boxing Days this year?

Sunday = 26th... then two holidays for 27 and 28?

27th is an extra chrimbo day :)

I love extra holidays, 3 days leave gets me a week and a bit off with new year being on the 3rd aswell :D

hey Jaqys :) just noticed you're doing 9 pounds for xmas!....I'm on 9 pounds for new years so close enough :) i will be paying close attention to your diary :D....

best of luck hun

onwards and downwards! x

Uh oh. I was hoping to get there for first xmas past but thats not going to happen :( Just taking it a little slower whilst work is so stressy.
Glad youre back.

The small snowflakes that have been falling the last few hours have turned into prawn cracker sized ones and looks like a difficult busride home will be had :(

Forgot to say this morning, last night had to post something into a neighbours flat and went in the lift without a coat on, the lift is my only access to a mirror. Anyway noticed my behind is much narrower than before, I was quite shocked, in a very nice way.

But it also showed how stupid my too big jeans look and so am determined to find something to fit this weekend.

dont like snow we had mad hail earlier i reckon it would of cut my skin if id been out in it it was that vicious!
You have fun jeans shopping

Jeans purchased :D
Tried on 4 styles they all did up but were mostly awful looking, one were okay enough and figure will be great after a couple of wears.

So pleased.

Been shopping up a storm, stopping now for cuppa(resisted cake, just).
Need to buy wrapping stuff but not found any pop up Xmas shops yet.
Other than that chrimbo shopping is all done so treating me.

Where did you get your jeans from, Jaqys?

I need to go badly - have the bunched-top, wide-leg look - not good. I hate shopping though (the whole thing - the crowds, the trying-on, the queues, the overheated shops - and then the freezing cold). I wish someone could go for me, I'd love that.

Shame you can't try on when online shopping. If I could measure myself then input all that and let the computer find my perfect jeans, it would be fab. Someone needs to create a service like that (and if anyone knows of one already existing, tell me where, please!)

i dont like the sit on your hips style ...i like them to hold the baby belly in ....sad but ive started buying then at M&S fit lovely

That's really encouraging ref seeing yourself in that mirror... I remember when I bought my full length mirror. I realised how I didn't recognise my own body. I highly recommend buying one!

Excellent news re jeans! They look great! As for Robin's idea, yes that would be a nice idea if it existed... maybe some entrepreneur is reading...

Yay, M&S and Next both deliver to France.

Had another duff weekend, so no weight update today.
Getting caught in the snow (looked like a snowman) on the way home friday followed by taking forever to get home (hardly any buses running) and having a cold wrapped themselves into one big excuse to misbehave and even the luck with the jeans couldnt keep me on track.

Have done a big online order for wednesday so I can(attempt to) make some stew and soup and freeze in batches.
Dont know what that means for eating until then though....

aaah Jaqs... Hang in there (see Scrumps's diary... you're not alone!)

Had a giant steak and some eggs last night and a M&S version of toffee muller. Forgot to get turkey out the freezer for tonight :(
so guess will have to be an omlette.

Didnt eat during the day though, think this cold is just killing my appetite.

Looking at slow cookers and finding some motivation.

Light sprinkling of snow on the ground, got pretty well covered walking between bus stops but its not falling at the moment by work.

Its my Mums birthday today and I'm pretty sure we've never had snow on her birthday before.

tis too cold to be funny now !!!!

slow cookers are the way to go

Yes yes go and get a slow cooker - had mine for 15+ years I think, and after a hibernation period in the past few years it's now come out and sits on the worktop and not in the cupboard. It uses a lot less electricity than the oven too.
At the weekend we had venison stew - yum yum divine...

<note to self> Get slow cooker out of cupboard...

Any recipes? Maybe a Slow Cooker recipe thread would be good to get us novices going? I need basic instructions cos last time (ok I'll confess and ONLY time I used it), I put it on low, and after about 10 hours the food was still lukewarm so we stuck it in the "proper" oven!

Dont say things like that, I'm a disaster with cooking as it is.

Didnt buy one, went to the shopping centre on the way home but didnt know if to buy the expensive one with a built in timer and an extra heat settting or the ultra cheap one and buy a timer plug or the dearer pretty one that is bigger and therefore more useful for making stock but might be too big when recooking a portion just for me.

Plus I knew the appliance store has a cheaper one but couldnt be bothered to walk over there due to freezation weather.

The other alternative being steal Mums as she never uses it a con dad into throwing in a timer plug with it but my food arrives tonight and want to get on with things.........
