Jess's Diary - Weighed in a day early..

Butter on paws is an old wives tail but we tried it cos they can always follow the smell of the butter home LOL. Best to keep her in for a while and like you said in one room til she familiar with it - pref one that she can't hide in this time lol. Any news yet on a foster home?

My friend from college said she'll take her if she's found a house by then. She's sold her house and is buying in Dorset.. moving out of her house in November so I'm sure she'll have found one by January. She has another cat and a dog, but the dog is tiny so I'm sure Cassi will be fine. She's great with animals and I trust her a lot. Hopefully Cassi can go there, I'd feel very happy knowing she was there :) Plus they want lots of land so my little bubby will have lots of room to run about.

aww thats fab stuff :) hope it works out for you! x

Oh and Rach, regarding the food I've been eating quite a lot of naughty stuff recently! I know the novelty will wear off soon and this stage will pass. I'm not binging anymore which is good, but I am sometimes eating when I'm not hungry and not paying attention to when I'm full which I need to try harder at. I need to watch the Paul McK CD, might help. My weight is quite stable at the moment, but I need to start losing. When I move to Adam's GPs I want to join a gym if I can find one that will let me have a 6 month membership and not try and rip me off. I really enjoy the gym and I'll be able to afford it.. and more importantly have the time! I think I will have TOO much time on my hands so it will give me something to do :)

Hi Jess - its been ages - sounds like you were having "kittens" about Cassie - get it....see I am dead clever like that!

Rosie x

Yay, glad you're back :) I was thinking about you the day before you reappeared!

In case you didn't go that far back I am not on WWs anymore, I've given up dieting for good! I'm trying to do the Paul McK thing like Jenni except I've not even watched the CD yet. Will do that today.

Been lurking a bit recently.. thought I best pop out.

When we move in with Adam's GPs we're going to join the gym.. nearest one is LA fitness but man is it expensive! It's over £40 a month for a 12 month contract which is higher than a 24 month contract.. I need to try and wangle a 6 month contract as that's how long we'll be there for. I'm not paying more than it is for 12 months though, that's craaazy. I think I get a discount with my McDonald's card which lasts until March 2010 so I can hopefully use that. What would happen if I just cancelled my direct debit? Do you think they would just stop my membership or would they try get me to pay? I wouldn't mind switching to a different LA Fitness after the 6 months, but the one near where I'm moving to is cheaper than this one so I wouldn't want to keep paying more.

I'm only in college Monday and Tuesday so it'll keep me from being bored! I will go from having not enough time to too much. I plan to go every Wed, Thurs and Fri and once or twice on the weekend. The membership includes swimming and classes as well so I can mix it up. The one I want to join in Sussex is cheaper but has squash and tennis courts! Stupid London, it's not even a nice part. I can't wait to play tennis again, if it's about 9 months until I move to Sussex :p I love it. So yes, very excited about joining the gym; I really enjoy it.

Hey was reading your post on rachs diary.
Have you tried dianette pill?
I was on antibiotics(minocycline) for nearly 10years for my bad skin & it would get better then flare up again:mad:

I seriously thought i may have polycystic ovaries aswell cos i couldnt lose weight & was even finding the odd hair on my chin:eek:

Tests showed i had normal hormones so doc suggested dianette as it controls acne aswell as being a contraceptive & its the best thing ever! No pmt no side effects nothing! its worth asking about plus im now 2stone lighter! x

I was put on Dianette when I was 14 for my skin and it worked wonders but you're not allowed it for more than 3 years apparently so I had to go off it when I was 17. I asked about it again recently and was told they're not even allowed to administer it anymore but if you have it then I guess that's not the case? I wouldn't mind having antibiotics but it interferes with the pill.

Spose it may depend on your doctor & the area you live in, all primary care trusts have different rules.
I took my antibiotics the whole time i was on the pill & i tried about 12 different pills during this time(they all made me ill in different ways) so im sure they can find a solution for you.

I know from experience how distressing bad skin can be..believe me my problems were only sorted 2 years ago & im now 38!
Good luck hun xx

Jess, on the gym front - I am sure their membership has been dwindling with the recession so I would just try negotiating with them.

Tell them you are only here for 6 months and are willing to pay £x per month and see what they say - they can only say "no" - so what have you got to lose....

I have that paul mc K book and cd somewhere :rolleyes:

I thought LA Fitness did a joint membership/group membership, they certainly did when I was a member there but that was 2 years ago, I would try asking them and negoitate - when there's a recession on the first thing out of the window is non essential expenditure like gym membership so they must be struggling to get new members through the door. THe other option would be the local council gym - which nearly always have no minimum membership term.

Thanks :) I wish you hadn't said they only got sorted at 36 though, aaaah! :p My skin isn't awful really, I just have a few spots but my skin looks quite red on my t-zones from open pores.

Yeah that's true.. with a gym they have to pay their bills whether they have 10 customers or a 100. They can only gain from our custom so I will haggle :)

I'll try that :) I might say that as there is two of us it's a lot of money each month and we're willing to pay £40 a month each but pay the money up front.. that's £480 in their pockets. If not I'll look around for somewhere cheaper. I'll see if I can find the local council gym now.

I've got most of my xmas shopping out the way! I hate shopping, especially in crowds and so does Adam so we're doing it early. We went to Westfield in London but it was rammed and Adam was being a whingey git so we didn't get much done. He just follows me around like sulky child not offering advice at all so we booked off Thursday to go but it's half term, whoops. We went into Woking this Saturday as it's smaller/quieter and got most of it done so we're don't have to go out Thursday, yay. Going to do the rest online instead. I'm getting my hair dyed Thursday; going back to blonde! Very excited, I miss being blonde but I couldn't afford to get it done in a salon.

For aunties/uncles/older cousins this year I've bought some flat wicker basket type things and I've bought some hay from Pets At Home to fill them. I'm going to put in a bottle of wine and mulled wine spices in a muslin bag, some sprigs of holly and ivy, wrap it in cellophane and voila.

Last year I bought my niece a xylaphone (noise) and this year I've bought her paints and paper (mess). Just to p*ss off my brother :D I bought my other niece a musical teething ring, so more noise, hoooray.

Adam is working from 10am this morning (Monday) 'til 2pm tomorrow (Tuesday). That's 28 hours in a row! All on my lonesome tonight. There are 4 of them working all night tonight so I made them all sandwiches and bought them things like sausage rolls, crisps, scotch eggs and cheese. Aren't I lovely? ;)

aww you proper little housewife :D did you feel great for doing it though? i always whinge about doing it but feel inwardly proud that i am a caring "future wife" :D LOL!

cant believe you dont like shopping though.. shall have to beat the love into you :D

Yes you are, so thoughtful. I'm glad someone else is an early bird shopped and on line, best thing ever. Its good to have a theme and you baskets sound fantastic. This year my 'theme' is wine and chocs and they sit staring at me on the top of the drawers in my bedroom and they're safe as I can't eat sugar or drink so whoopee.

Hope you get the gym settled

Yeah, it felt good :p I definately need to start my good deeds blog, but I will probably wait 'til NY and have it as my resolution.

I love shopping online Rach! Just hate people, haha. I do like a good clothes mooch when it's quiet though :)

I wanted to buy some tins of choccy and biscuits but Adam said they wouldn't last to xmas. Probably true :p I'm thinking about doing chocolates too, I've found out the chocolate truffles are really easy to make.. melt chocolate, mix in double cream and when set in the fridge scoop into balls, roll in things like cocoa powder, icing sugar, crushed nuts, coconut.. that's it! I might make some to give with the mulled wine.

Online shopping is amazing. When I see poor parents pushing prams around (phew, trying saying that after a few) or trying to calm down a tantrum out in the shops I want to shake them and tell them all about the miracle of online shopping. Especially food shopping, it saves me a fortune <3

I wish they would stay at home & shop online too jess, they do my head in disturbing my shopping trips with screaming children!

Cant believe how organised you are,me..i havnt yet bought a thing! x
