Jim's lazy Atkins diary

Morning all, thanks for the good wishes for my mum.

I've just been over and made sure she had a cup of tea, I've bought some cranberry juice for her as well, she's very crotchety this morning, thinks i'm fussing over nothing and she's not thirsty anyway. ah well, that's old folks for you.

I'll go over at lunchtime as well, I need to check she's taking her anti biotics.

I'm sure she appreciates you really Jim x

Hi Jim, we have a similar thing with L's Mum - she seems to think that sipping at one glass of water all day is enough........................I know she has a couple of cups of tea in between but she has recurring water infections and it is all due to not drinking enough - she says keep going to the loo is annoying..............and beware when she says she is not thirsty because stupidly, the body switches off the thirst trigger when you are actually dehydrated which really does not help - hope she gets better soon xxx

MIL is afraid to drink too much as she has limited mobility and doesn't want to be up and down to the toilet all the time. The thing is, she has water tablets and they make her want the loo too. They need to drink properly otherwise they get dehydrated and upsets the natural balance, electrolites etc. x

Morning all,

yes Bren, the Dr told us exactly about that, it seems strange that the body would do that doesn't it. I need to make sure she drinks loads of that cranberry juice.

Gem, my Mum doesn't have any problems with mobility, but she does get annoyed if she has to keep going up and down the stairs to the toilet it seems.

ah well, little one to kindergarten and then i'll go over. I need to get out of the house today or Colleen will find me work to do :(

Gosh Jim - that wouldn't do would it ;) x

Morning all, chores successfully avoided :) Nothing planned today really, I'll go and check up on Mum but that's it. looks like a perfect kindle day in front of the fire.

Sounds good to me - Just come back from a weekend in Portsmouth - brilliant! I always think a good Victorian festival kicks off Christmas nicely x

Morning all, I see I didn't post yesterday, not sure why, I thought I'd done it. NTR here really, very quiet, Colleen went on a clothes shopping binge last night with her £100 M&S Voucher from work. I went to the pub, sounds a fair division of activities if you ask me. ;)

Susie, thanks for that love, very handy link, here's a few for you

Spending binge sounds good - but I guess you enjoyed the pub more Jim x

Morning all, all in all a very enjoyable evening, Colleen joined me after the shopping and we ate there as neither of us felt like cooking. Well planned as i picked up a 25% off voucher whilst we were there, so looks like I may have to take my Mum out for lunch today. I love the Horse & Jockey :D

Morning all, very quiet weekend, just sat around and cuddled and talked. Perfect. Nothing much planned today, I need to speak to our daughter to find what Colleen really wants for christmas.

That's thoughtful Jim - so glad you had a nice weekend. We were in your neck of the woods this weekend - murder mystery at Ramada Encore on Friday night (excellent), Blists Hill on Saturday and the German markets on Sunday. Poor Taz on her crutches had a difficult time with the crowds x

Evening Jim - sounds like a lovely day, especially when it's so cold outside.

Also VG idea to consult the womenfolk on Colleen's present - learned over the years, eh? :D

Is she into adventures? The Red letter Day website has some great stuff.

Morning all, Damn, but it's cold out there this morning! Don't think we'll be going out anywhere today. I've bought some new finger paints, so we'll play with those. We went to the German market a couple of weeks ago Gem, it gets bigger every year doesn't it. Speaking of Christmas presents, Eleanor tells me that Colleen wants a new pair of winter boots and even told me exactly where to find them. I'll sneak a look at her old ones to see what size she wears :)

Remember to keep the receipt as sizes differ. I have sketchers boots and they are bigger than most so I usually have to buy a size smaller - how silly is that? x

Morning all, Ah, I'll remember that Gem, thanks. Not very nice out there at the moment, freezing fog and damned cold. :( Still, missy gets to wear her Peppa pig wellies, so she's happy.
