Karenlou's diary - Hello, I'm home!

Personally I think you should go for it. At the end of the day you have to think about yourself and your quality of life. With more money coming in this would obv improve. I think if you have good friends at your work just now they too would want you to have the better paid job. It just means unfortunately, that you will have to meet up on a regular basis to swap gossip and drink lots of wine!! lol :)

Better the devil you know..?

I'd say, if you enjoy your job, stay there - but obviously only you can tell if it's worth the money for the chance that you might hate the new place.

I mean, if you hated your current job then I'd say go for it, but you have no idea if you'll like the new place better.

Just my thoughts, obviously you can do whatever you want ;)

x

I dont think youd be disloyal to colleagues, and I dont think Id factor that in as a main reason for deciding what to do. For all you know things could change and they could move on too.

My mum cut back to 4 days a week working before she retired and she couldnt believe the difference it made she loved it, wasnt so keen on the cut in pay mind you lol But if you can get the same money for less working hours Id say you need to consider it. You could meet your mates and your son on your extra day off ;)

This opportunity won't be around for ever! If you let it pass by you might regret it in a few months. For a start you're off work with stress from this job so it sounds like a good idea to me.

I think I'll put an application in - as I say it's REALLY good money so there'll be a large number of applicants anyway I would imagine. If I don't have a good feeling about it, I wouldn't have to accept it if they did offer it to me.

I agree. You go for it :)

I'd take things one step at a time...put in the application and wait to see if you hear anything. Then if you get an interview you can suss out the place whilst you're there. And you can always turn down any offer if you dont feel comfortable. :)

i was just about to say the same, put in the application and take it step at a time...ull get a feel for it if u do get it and know then whether or ot to take it. good luck hunni xxx

GO FOR IT!! The only person you need to be loyal to is yourself. Ive learnt the hard way (with my present job) that there isn't much workbased loyalty about when push comes to shove, so think of yourself first and foremost, good luck.

I say Go for it too! As everyone has said, you dont have to accept, and even if you do, you could end up loving it more than you did your current job.

I moved branches after a year in one and i honestly was not looking forward to it one bit. I was anxious and miserable but now, almost 2 years on i would rather be here than anywhere else!! I absolutely love it!

And you could always meet your friends/son for lunch on the day you aren't working if its only 4 days a week :D.

Good luck if you do apply! xx

I'm sure the people you work with would be pleased for you if you had a better job/pay/commute. You have to do what's best for you and the work-life balance would have a great improvement on your health and well-being.

You also can't guarantee that all the people you love working with will always stay there. I know that when I left working at a place where I got on well with all of my collegues, almost all of them left straight after me for better jobs too - we'd all stayed for a bit too long really because we all got on so well!

Looks like everyone is in agreement - GO FOR IT GIRL.

If you don't like it when you get offered the job then you have another choice to make - but if you don't go for it you'll miss out on a new dilemma and will be kicking yourself for ages

What a difficult one!!

I would agree that you should go for it.... put in an application and when you get an interview see what the vibe is like when you go in.

Thats what life is about, taking chances ... Im sure your work mates would understand and like the others said you can meet up with them outside of work, good excuse for a few drinks!!!

Good Luck xxxx

Thanks for all your advice guys. The closing date is not till the 20th so I have plenty of time to dither before I have to submit an application.

Well, my tummy is determined not to let me eat anything naughty. I had quite a good day yesterday and managed to eat all but two of my points. Went out to lunch with Keith and his mum for her birthday. The woman who owns the place is a friend of mine and she knows I love her white chocolate mousse so she made one especially for me. She makes them in a teacup so they are not very big and I shared it with Keith just to be on the safe side but still was hanging over the toilet an hour later. I feel like I've been kicked in the stomach again. :( I'm trying to persuade myself it was the vegetable soup that did it but Keith doesn't believe me.

So, I'm back to sipping peppermint tea this evening!

aww Karen! *big hugs* really hope you get over this soon :( xxx

Thanks Rach. I'm really sick of feeling sick if you know what I mean. At the moment I can only eat soup, potatoes and Ryvitas - everything else seems to hurt! *bottom lip wobbles*

aw i hope you feel better soon hun - doesnt sound like your having much fun!
