Keto weight loss diary

I once tried to do a month veggie, lasted 3 days then I smelled bacon :D

Last few months I have had bacon in a wholemeal bagel nearly every morning!

But my weakness is chicken... if chicken was unhealthy then losing weight would be so much harder for me haha

A good thing about keto is that bacon and eggs is perfectly acceptable :)

Yeh haha And steaks. I love a big steak with some mushrooms and onions nom nom

Forgive me Al, for I have sinned...

Like a woman possessed last night. Got 16 reports to submit by Friday. Working on them all day/night. Did 5. Would usually eat rubbish to keep me going whilst working solidly on my laptop. Chewed my gum until 7pm then caved in a bit. Dipped finger in barbecue sauce from Hunters chicken that I made for dinner. Had a bite of their chicken... Then I raided fridge for 100g plain chicken then I had a protein shake. Was on the edge! Didn't have the fruit n fibre. Still in ketosis but am annoyed at not sticking to my plan. Think it was a combination of having to work solidly, being chained to my laptop. and possibly taking antibiotics? Don't know if they're messing about with my resolve!

Anyway, it's done. It's not a disaster. Just hope I avoid any more episodes!

Read your posts above about keto and muscles etc. My friend is a body builder and when he goes into competition he follows a strict 16 week plan. All he eats are eggs in the morning then about 7 meals consisting of chicken and broccoli and protein shakes. He carries food prepared in a tub and eats that all day. It is very strict, costs a fortune and makes him very tired. He's a gym instructor and has to sleep in his breaks! He doesn't compete in the massive category but has won a few titles inc Mr Northwest! If you saw him clothed, he could pass for normal, you'd see small waist, definition in his physique. Not like the hulk!

Anyway, have a good sunday and keep busy... :)

Dont like knowing weight, so staying off scales! Go by shape.

I'm reading Arnold Schwarzenegger's autobiography right now, just completed the chapters talking about how he started bodybuilding and won Mr Universe.

The amount of effort these guys have to put in is incredible. Hours upon hours of training nearly every day a week and yeh, no short-cuts with nutrition. Everything has to be good stuff.

Pretty scary isn't it? People think they're just meat heads who eat crap, pump iron and slap on fake tan and a wee pair of drawers for showtime. So disciplined...

Indeed it is a frightening level of determination!

Diet yesterday was sensible but not keto. I'm back on it from today.

Oh, and the filling I had on Friday has fallen out already. I'm not going to get it done for an eighth time, I'm going to get it crowned instead.

Food today:

Meal 1 - 1/2 spit roast chicken

Meal 2 - 2 scoops whey in water with 200ml double cream (high, but I needed to get my fats up)

Squash - 6 pints

Got out on my bike, only managed about 5 miles but it's something!

I went out on my bike (bmx) for the first time in years yesterday.

I don't know how good 5 miles is but hey any exercise is great. 5 miles sounds like it's tough anyway...

Road bike is the way forward...

Here's mines in action exactly one year ago today (Liverpool triathlon, Olympic distance!)

Like slicing through butter. So much more pleasurable ImageUploadedByMiniMins.com1372717085.058315.jpg than a mountain bike!

I hear you Maggie, but I do like to ride the trails and towpaths too and I can't do that on a road bike! I'm debating a cyclocross bike, but I'll probs just get a road bike and keep my mountain bike as well.

Also, Olympic distance Tri??! I don't think I'll be doing one of those anytime soon, well done!

Food today:

Meal 1 - Whole rack of ribs, 100g approx coleslaw

Meal 2 - 200g approx pork, loads of broccoli, splash of gravy, 3 apples (they needed using up and I'm not in keto atm anyway)

Meal 3 - 100g approx almonds, 60ml double cream to get my fats up

Squash: 6 pints

I use double cream as a fat source, it's so easy. Also, if I need to get my fats up a shot of cream is much nicer than a shot of evoo... :D

The ribs were lovely, but I think I'm getting too much protein and not enough fat because I've just tested myself and I'm not in keto. The problem with this keto diet is that I like my fruit and veg too much and it feels wrong not to eat them. Paleo is probably less drastic than keto because more fruit and veggies are allowed, but I'd be giving up dairy altogether along with all grains and starchy veg. Just something to think about.

Even though I'm not in ketosis I know my carbs have been very low and that in itself has not been as hard as I thought it would be. I'm just going to lower my protein a bit, up my fats and cut out some of the incidental carbs. That means back to no fruit for the time being :(

I'll find the right balance for me soon, and it'll be low carb for sure, but maybe not full keto. We'll see what happens, but for now I'm going to persevere with it.

Well mate whatever you decide to do, willpower and dedication will be still be your main ingredients for success. As long as you have those two with whichever diet you decide to do, you will inevitably succeed.

If it's worth saying, simply calorie counting has been amazing for me. If you ever think about doing that, I certainly recommend it. It's the simplest method, I guess that's why I like it so much.

Agree with Rev... Willpower and determination main ingredients. Case of finding system that puts you in the zone. It's awful when it doesn't 'fit' properly.

CD works for me. It doesn't involve any thinking other than choosing which flavour sachet to have. No way I can 'blurr' the rules! Want to get to training weight and this is quickest and easiest way for me :)

Hope you find a regime that lets you have your apples Al!
