Fell off AGAIN last night! My total cals stayed below 2k, but I ate chocolate and ice lollies.

Which brings me to the next thing.....

I'm stopping keto. It's not for me. I can do low carb but full keto is brutal to stick to! Instead, I'm going to remain low carb but allow some good ones in, keep track of my total cals and eat more protein than fat. Eating proper fruit and veg will make me feel better, and I won't beat myself up if I want to eat a slice of bread!

And so this diary ends, in failure.
 
Awww Al, don't say failure. It's a success because you are looking for alternative methods. Failure would be eating a loaf a day and pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Stick at something and you will get there. We are all heading to the same destination but taking different routes. It doesn't matter how you get there. Getting there is the aim. So no use if word failure, right?!

Failures are part of the process, they will and always happen you just have to accept that as a fact and move on with your progress.

Why not just calorie count? There is complete freedom and it is proven to work. You can eat anything you want!

Keto is not for me, but the plan going forward is to keep it high protein/low carb and calorie count, and I intend to eat a lot of fruit and veg. I'll be starting a new diary from Saturday, although kcals will be kept below 2000 total from today anyway.

I'll end this one with some observations on keto.

It is difficult to consistently eat a 65%/30%/5% fat/pro/carb diet without significant preparation.
It will mess with your digestive system like crazy.
The tiredness that people mention is real, but not too difficult to overcome.
You will be grumpy for a while.
There is a much bigger difference between eating a low carb diet and a full keto one than it would initially appear.

I'm off camping tomorrow. Kinross in Perthshire. I've had carrot cake today and have a funny feeling I might have a drink at the festival :-/

I don't think I have had one piece of fruit since starting, apart from a couple of bananas. Woops :eek:

The only regular veg I eat is Sweetcorn and that's it. I still need to sort out my taste buds hah
