Kim's diary of being a new mum

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Hope you're well today hun :) xx

Hi jess I'm good thanks having a very lazy day as I woke up at 4 am (for a wee of course!) But ended up feeling really upset and started blubbing about missing my dad, poor Mike was half asleep and had to wake himself up to comfort me. So needles to say despite feeling better today (sometimes you just need a good old cry) and we've both been laying and snoozing on the sofa this afternoon. Don't know how I normally manage a full day at work I seem to quite like having a nap in the afternoon this week! :p

Hope you are doing ok too hun? :) x

Oh Kim! Bless you :( Grief is so so hard at the best of times, let alone with pregnancy hormones thrown into the mix. Everything is that bit harder isn't it? I hope you're ok and you're feeling better now sweet. Sometimes we all need a good cry xx

I'm doing good thanks hun x hope you've had a good weekend xx

22+3 Weeks

Sorry i have been slack with posting recently; i had a lovely week off work last week which was lovely and restful with lots of sleep! Back to work with a bump (lots of changes happening that were announced while i was off) and adding to that i seem to have gone off sleep so for 2 nights i have pretty much been awake all night  Last night i just was not tired and watched pretty much every hour pass by until 5.30am when i felt tired.....Mikes alarm went off at 5.50am so it was a very short cat-nap! Lets hope i sleep better tonight!

Over the weekend we had my niece to stay the night, she is 9 months old and was as good as gold. She did wake a couple of times in the night and both Mike and I woke up in a panic as she only cried/shouted once and then went quiet and we both thought we'd dreamt it. Problem is the adrenaline rush woke baby up who decided it was fun to kick me very low so i didn't really get back to sleep after that as it was very uncomfortable and no amount of prodding or poking could convince it to move up . Little Libbie settled herself when she woke and then woke up at 7.30am full of beans. I did say to Mike that i don't know how people do it on their own - i didn't seem to have enough hands half the time and she didn't apprciate being left when i needed to go to the toilet (every 20 minutes is what it feels like at the moment! haha) so it was good Mike was there to entertain while i did other bits and pieces.

Baby has been kicking away, i am sure i am not feeling everything as sometimes it feels like it's kicking in to my back/pelvis(?) it;s an odd sensation but i'm just pleased to feel it wriggling away. My stomach certainly seems to be growing too...some evenings i look very round!

I've been completely freaked out by reading the February birth forum on BabyCenter - sooo many (well it seems like it) are having problems with early labour, waters going etc once they hit the 20 - 25 week period. I am now on a daily basis telling baby to stay put...the kicking low down doesn't help as it feels like it's trying to escape!! Fingers crossed baby likes it inside and stays in until February!

How are all you girls doing? Hope you and bubba's are all OK! :)

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Hmmm well I'm currently waiting at the doctors as I think I have a UTI :( sitting in the waiting room and really need a wee so trying to take my mind off it! As if it's not bad enough baby is having fun aiming a couple of swift kicks in the direction of my bladder  fingers crossed its not a UTI and just baby but my mum told me it's not normal to wee 2 - 4 times an hour at this stage so to get it checked. Joy of joy!

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Yep I've got a UTI so 7 days of antibiotics to take and hope they sort it out! Hopefully I'll spend less time on the loo! Haha

Aw hopefully the antibiotics work and get you sorted out. I'm still waiting for the constant weeing but so far it hasn't sneaked up on me so I guess I'm lucky.
Try not to worry about the baby centre thing. I think when you get a few pregnant people together there's always going to be bad and good. Your bubs will stay put until February when you're all good and ready :)

Ahhhh sorry to hear you've got a UTI...they can be pretty uncomfortable. Hopefully the antibiotics will clear it up quickly xx

Hey Kim, just realised I wasn't subscribed so checking in to follow :)

Sorry you've got a UTI, they're annoying little devils! Doctor said to me that symptoms in pregnancy are different to normal so sometimes it's hard to know you have one. I had one a few weeks back and the antibiotics sorted it right out pretty quickly so you'll be fine very soon I bet. xxx

Oh?? Maybe I do too then coz I reckon I wee 2-4 times at least per hour!!!
Do you have any other symptoms???

Hmm I've had a bit of back pain (kidney area) but not all the time (mainly when I haven't drunk loads) and also feel like I can't empty my bladder fully which I thought was caused by baby pressing on it, but when I told my mum its a bit uncomfortable (not exactly stinging like you expect but not normal) when I go and there only seems to be a dribble she said that was a clear sign of inflammation. Doctor today agreed all the signs point to UTI. Trying amoxicillan for 7 days if no better they will send a urine sample off for further analysis and to work out what antibiotics it needs. Fingers crossed the amoxicillan work! If you think you might have one it's best to get it checked hun...doctor said weeing more than once and hour was a sign too especially if its not a full bladder each time. Plus they are very common in pregnancy! X

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Thanks girls thankfully I think I've hopefully caught it early enough as I don't feel crap so hope the antibiotics clear it up before I feel any symptoms! :)

Starting to wonder if I should get checked again tbh, I'm finding having a wee to be most traumatic at the mo! Been telling myself that it's enormo-baby's fault but now I've read what you just said Kim I'm wondering... Seeing doctor in Saturday anyway so will def mention it.

Definitely get it checked, i feel silly for blaming baby for the constant weeing when clearly it was me....perhaps with a little help from baby's well directed kicks! ;)

Well i think baby either didn't want me to get up this morning or it really did want me get up...but the alarm went off and then it started kicking like crazy. So either it was saying "nooo don't get up stay in bed all warm and cosy" or it was saying "get up and feed me!!!" as i did go to bed hungry last night but figured 10.30 was too late to eat, was nice to be kicked and reasurred that it was all OK in there.

Went to see one of my friends last night to give her some photos i had taken of her baby boy - he's 4 weeks on Saturday and can't believe how quickly he is changing! Makes me so excited to meet my little one in Feb! 121 days to go :D hehe.

Oooh i also started my christmas shopping last night while waiting for my prescription - thanks to Sainsburys 1/2 price toy sale! Managed to get something for the my friend's baby's born this year and something for my niece for £36 quid! bargain! Thinking i may go back and have another look tonight in another sainsburys to see what else i could get....lots of kids in my family and friends now seem to pretty much all have kids! Not sure how long the sale is on for but definitely worth checking out if you have kids to buy for..can't argue with 1/2 price!

Have a great day girls! :)

Baby movements/kicks are THE best...I just make the most of every single second that baby wriggles and never mind what time of the day/night it is :p Hehe

Echoing Jess re the xmas presents...Ive only bought my sisters xmas pressie. Im waiting for everyone else to tell me what they want!! I cant stand buying the typical boots 3 for 2 stuff because i end up doing that every year and the presents have become so predictable. Dad always ends up getting Nivea shaving stuff...mum gets Dove bath stuff and sister usually gets some sort of makeup set haha

TGIF!

Baby is having a good old wriggle this morning, no definite kicks so god knows what it's doing in there....making it'self comfy low down i think as the movements seem quite low this morning.

Last night i had a dream that i went in to labour at work and it really was a very comical dream with all my colleagues panicking. Working 2 weeks before my due date i guess there really is a chance it could happen...but lets hope it doesn't!

I've had so many requests for photo sessions in the run up to Christmas (i do studio portraits mainly of children and babies) i'm going to be very busy! Lets hope bump doesn't get too big or it could get interesting!

I really need to make a plan for Christmas shopping...a large portion of my family have birthdays in December too so from next month it's sort of non-stop. A birthday every weekend in December - my sister is on 2nd, my niece on 12th, Sister on 18 (her 40th), Me on 20th (my 30th), Christmas, and my newest niece had to join the December crew and was born 30 December last year, so it's her 1st birthday 5 days after xmas. My mum (her 60th) and brother are also January babies....so man oh man this is an expensive time of year and even more so with all these big birthdays! Lets not forget we might be moving house around that time too! Talk about it all happening at the same time! :D

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Just thought id share a little bump picture. Everyone at work keeps commenting on how I've got a bump and this top is now pretty tight! I don't think I look as big as it feels today though.
