Kim's diary of being a new mum

Wow.....sorry to hear you've had such a rubbish night. Alongside the lack of sleep us pregnant ladies already get....that extra noise from downstairs sounds like an utter nightmare.

I really hope that as you say..they were just visiting and maybe you can get an early night tonight :) xx

Ugh Kim I can sympathise .. The people that live above us are renovating their flat and they are sooo noisy and inconsiderate .. If we wernt moving id have a mind to go round and say something.. Maybe a crazy hormonal pregnant women would make them think twice about making so much noise at silly hours of the day and night.
Hope that like joey said it was just a visit and not anything permanent! Xx

Well i did a bit of detective work last night - the masionette below us where the noise was coming from has had a sold board outside since we moved in so i called the estate agent and said we'd moved in above and had tried to knock to talk to the owner but had had no luck, and explained that BT needed access to their garden to run a phone line for us (not a lie, but BT have worked around it!) and the guy told me that the sale hasn't gone through yet (thank god we are getting new people in!) yet and there are "circumstances" that could mean the gentleman that lives there isn't around. He also said that he wasn't dealing with the gentleman himself but his family regarding the sale, but couldn't give me any more information (fair enough). So all in all very relieved that we haven't got him as a new neighbour and he should be moving out shortly.

We made it to 9pm last night and then decided it was bedtime. We could hear shouting and crying as we were getting ready for bed so i put on a DVD in hope it would drown out the sound enough to let us fall asleep - which thankfully we both did. I woke quite a few times in the night (tried to roll myself out of bed without waking Mike up...then crept across the room and then in to the bathroom trying to not make a sound in case i woke Mike or the man downstairs...was practice for when there is a sleeping baby to creep around lol.) and heard banging and crashing around downstairs throughout the night, but thankfully none of this went on for long and wasn't accompanied by the crying/wailing/shouting that was so upsetting the night before. All in all feeling much better for having had a bit of sleep last night!

Baby is a bit quieter today, but i have been starving the last couple of days (having to eat biscuits at 2am kind of hungry for the last few nights and then last night i had a bowl of ready brek before bed which worked a treat) so i assume little monkey is catching up on sleep and growing today. Keep getting little boots in the ribs so i think feet are still tucked up there.

Hope you girls are all OK! xx

Oh what a relief you're not stuck with that!! I know it sounds awful as if it was someone with a disability its not their fault.. But God.. Not exactly what you want to have bought next to!!!

Youi're gas with the creeping so as not to wake Mike.. I must be such a cow.. I just get up n go as if its the middle of the day.. Although it'd take more than a door opening to wake Jonathan up!!! lol
N I won't be doing the creeping thing around baby either... Baby will have to get used to sleeping through normal life... Was a tip I stole from how my brother was with his boys... They're great sleepers now.. Probably sleep too well ha ha..

Yes i do feel bad for feeling relieved - i know he can't help it if it's disability etc, but the prospect of just having spent all our money on moving and not be able to enjoy it was really worrying me! Luckily it's not for long and hopefully they new people moving in will be nice and quiet lol.

Oh i don't normally creep around Mike when i need to go to the toilet in the night, but he was soooo tired last night i felt bad waking him up after no sleep the night before. Tonight he can deal with me getting up and down like a yo-yo! ;)

Oh yeah i am not planning on creeping around baby, it's going to get used to noise early on - and with 6 cousins it's got to get used to things being LOUD. My mum always puts baby to sleep in the pram next to the TV too so it gets used to sleeping with noise - so i'll be doing that too! My friend has a baby who is sooooo noise sensitive and i couldn't cope with it, he wakes at the smallest sound and startles at anything remotely loud! So i certainly wont be creeping around baby thats for sure, apart from maybe being a bit quieter at night if i get up so it learns what night and day are.

Yea same here. So glad my family all had their babies years ago so I got all mam's tips :)
I'd be screwed otherwise!

J's nephew wakes at every sound too. Its a disaster for his mam who minds him one day a week. Coz her other grandkids wud often pop in n they are not quiet! Lol

Baby would be awake an awful lot if it was sensitive to the noise of my neices and nephews - they are VERY loud when together and the girls do NOT stop talking! haha....even Libbie who's just turned 1 has the chatty gene, non-stop babble from her now.

It's funny even now baby sleeps when i am around them all and there is lots of noise and then the minute they go home it starts kicking away, so hopefully it will be reassured by the noise as it's perfectly used to the utter chaos already lol.

It's also going to get used to being man-handled by the kids quite early on as my nieces LOVE to be mini-mums and are always trying to pick up and cuddle Libbie so i can imagine them never leaving the baby alone. No denying this baby will be well loved and cuddled! :D

I love listening to baby babble that makes no sense n the expression changing on their face... That's the stage j's nephew is at too. So cute :)

Our baby sleeps very much like daddy atm.
This morning there was 5 alarms gone off before there was a stir from her! Then it was wriggles for a few mins, n back to sleep! Long may that last when she gets here

Baby babble is great she cracks us up as she babbles away then if your response is wrong she growls at us! Too funny.

Haha this baby wakes before the alarm :-/ without fail! Can we swap? I need a baby that sleeps lol. Xx

Sorry... I need a baby that sleeps more :p
Its funny coz some mornings the alarm with frighten her n she'll wake with a jump.. Wriggle about for a couple of seconds.. Obviously turning over to go back to sleep (that was yesterday!!) It depends what alarm he sets.. He changes it nightly so he doesn't get used to it... Though he still doesn't wake til I kick him!!!!!

Mikes alarm makes baby jump too..... but it doesn't go back to sleep. It doesn't wake Mike up he can sleep through it! Crazy that it wakes something inside me but not the person laying next to it!

We had Seth used to noise in the womb with all the noisy music we listen to! We've lowered the volume a touch but generally he'll sleep through most noise and the Hoover and my hairdryer sends him to sleep! xxx

We're not creeping round Cole during the day. Any visitors get told to keep the volume at a normal level and we've had tv etc on constantly. On a night we take him upstairs and feed him with just a low light and talk quieter then so he knows it's bed time.

Hi honey x how are you this evening? xx

Hi honey x how are you this evening? xx

I'm good thanks hoping for a quieter night tonight again so I can catch up on some of that missed sleep from Monday night.

Feeling really bloated and gassy tonight though and not sure why as I haven't eaten anything different so hoping that doesn't keep me awake! How are you hun? Xx

Morning hun.. How you doing? Quieter night??

Morning Frances, how are you?

Yes it was a quieter night - although very noisy when we got in to bed....we were both like "oh god it's gonna be a bad night" lots of shouting, crying/wailing (horrible sound!) and banging of doors, but putting on a DVD drowned it out and then I didn't hear anything else. I heard him this morning when i was getting ready to leave, but at least we got some sleep! He obviously smokes like a trooper too as the smell of smoke when i walked past his bathroom window this morning was SO strong! URGH!

The funny thing is we had a BT engineer come round yesterday to sort our internet out and he walked in to the house and was like "the bloke downstairs is a very odd isn't he?!", i said we hadn't met him or seen him but apparently he went out of his house to the van as soon as he pulled up and asked the engineer if there was a problem, then instead of going back inside when the engineer said no he was just waiting for a customer to get home, he just stood staring at the poor engineer for ages!

The joys of buying a property - you never know what neighbours you are going to get!

Oh God thank goodness he's leaving!!!
Yea you really don't know do you.. You should be allowed live in a house for a week r 2 before a sale goes through ha ha
I only thought that the other day after your first experience of him.. Gosh we were lucky!!

Am all good ta :) xx

Yes thats what we keep telling ourselves, although thankfully we are out at work all day so not around and i can take the odd bad night when i know it's a temporary thing. God knows how the people we bought from did it...because unfortunately if it was someone having parties at least the police/council/environmental health could do something, but with mental health/disability they wouldn't be able to do a thing so the only option we would have is to live with it or move...thankfully we wont have to worry about that!

Definitely think you should be able to test drive a house before moving in! You just never know what you are going to get. Thank goodness you haven't had any problems - it's certainly not something i would have worried about when we were looking, i accept you will hear noise from neighbours but never considered what it could be like in the worst case scenario.

33+5 Weeks

Feeling quite uncomfortable today - feel like baby is pressing down on my cervix, which is making me waddle (my lovely colleague informed me i am doing the "pregnant walk" today )

I also feel very tender down there....it's not swollen i don't think....not that i could see if i wanted to...but just feel like i am aware of that area more than usual today so i guess baby is probably pressing down.... i'm pretty sure it's head down as i am sure i keep getting a little bottom poking out by my ribs and kicks up by my ribs too.

Strangely feels like the baby is scratching (?) my hip area....it's a really weird sensation, but i assume it's little hands moving in that area. Very very odd! haha.

We are getting a new bed delivered today...cannot wait to sleep in it tonight...a kingsize bed...we aren't going to know what to do with the space as for the last few months we have been sleeping in a small double (4ft) so we are going to have a whole foot more space!! Cannot wait!!! :D

We are going shopping with Mike's parents on Saturday for baby stuff so really looking forward to that and hoping i can get excited rather than overwhelmed by it! Mike also said he will make a start on baby's room on Sunday.
