So sorry lostris, hope Siepie is OK. I know she means so much to you. Hopefully just cystitis (common in female cats apparently), aka,a urinary tract infection. Did vet take urine sample? If UTI antibiotics and maybe a change in diet. Can spread to the kidneys so well done for taking her quickly. Tons of love - chips xx

Hope your cat is ok, its such a worry when they aren't well but its good you noticed something was up early.

I hope sotoo. Se had it before but recovered very quickly, now she is acting very. Strange, she goes to litter box and outside in alternate pee/poop tries every 2min or so. We started her on pills yesterday and she got a shot to help cure the infection. I am home alone all week and I really need kitty to be better. She still meows and eats a lot like her usual self butsomething is off. I really do not like being home alone and having to go to work like this, I can not moniter her properly. Her tum is making funny noises it doesnt nomally make.

True it is good we noticed it wuickly but I just want it to be over and her to be okay. She meows and gets up to go to litterbox, its not good. I need to wait for meds to start working in a day or 2 we should notice improvement said the vet... Fingers crossed...

21/49 weeklies left miscalcedmy icecream choc crisps thing monday. Decided I will not have more weeklies except Thursday which is my weekly night out with a girlfriend and we always go out for a meal.

Argh exhausted.
Not sleeping well and cat does not want to eat her meds. I fingerfeed it to her or spoonfeed it to her with some tuna but she eats the tuna and pukes up the pill. It takes 15min to feed her the pill now, in the beginning she ate it a lot easier but she is becoming more fussy. :(
Instead of nice relaxing wake up moment I need to jump out of bed and start feeding her the pill. :( I love her but its a huge pain.

Morning Hun. Awww your poor cat. You'll have to be hard on her to get medication in. Try holding her mouth closed until you're sure she's swallowed tablet. Our dog is such a pig that we just sneak a pill in a bit of sausage so he gobbles it all up without even realising. I suppose with cats it's more difficult coz they can be viscous (sp)

What's on the menu for today?

I had the problem with Daze and trouble with antibiotics is they must have full regular course or infection gets worse as bugs get stronger. Worried me sick when vet said "Full dose or No dose" I tried everything. Hid them in bits of corned beef, salmon, you name it. They taste so bitter and she could smell them. I would find them in corners and under cupboards  I had a brainwave which worked. Had some of my old pills, the pull apart gel capsule type. Emptied powder from them (blew on them hard to make sure nothing left in them) I then crushed her pill and using a bit of stiff creased paper managed to get the powder into the empty capsule and pushed top back on. It worked, but they do start to dissolve if left in wet food so keep them as dry as you can, or try to feed it to her immediately hidden in an irresistible treat, with Daze, that would be tinned salmon or chicken livers ! The girl likes to party Good luck. chips xx

Wrap her in a towel so she doesn't hurt u of herself. Leave her head poking out. Wedge her under one arm and gently squeeze where her top and bottom jaw meet- she'll open her mouth. Pop the pill in when she opens up and hold her jaw shut and massage under her chin until u feel her swallow. Done!! Safest way. Don't bother with food etc til after then u can fuss her and tell her how lovely she is and reward her with tuna. Then she won't be sick!

Aww bless her. Cats can be really difficult with pills, you might well have to try forcing her to swallow the tablet. It won't be pleasant for either of you but its for own good and will be over quickly and then you can make a real fuss of her.

Personally I wouldn't go for the option of emptying out a tablet and putting it in there as I would be concerned how any medication residue in the casing might affect a cat. There really aren't very big in comparison to us and its going to be pretty much impossible that there was nothing left in the casing. Not a criticism of you everythingwithchips, just my own person opinion.

Thanks for your messages lovely ladies. Sorry for slow reply, been busy with the pussycat and work. Finally have some rest it feels like.

Sorry, menu was above your post. :)
I tried the hooding mouth closed last time. Our cat will choke herself before eating the pill it is really a bad sight and has really put me off to be honest, so I will do whatever I can to not have to do that.

Hi,
I can only imagine the stress getting a pet to take meds. Gosh, wish they knew it was good for them. Some pets are too bloody smart for their own good :(

xx

We tried that before, she just.... She would rather choke on it than swalllow :/. We tried that before it was awful.

Thanks. I am glad to say we figured it out me and the kitty cat. Thank god.

I now put a tiny but of tuna on my finger or in my hand and she just gulps it up. Did it in spoon before but didnt work anymore, hand worked out well. Glad she ate all her pills now, I will not have to do it again.

Sorry not much info. Kitty is doing better, playing again and a lot more cuddly. Glad she is feeling better.

Maybe get the vet to show you how? Xxxx

If we have to do something like this in the future, yes, definitely. Though I really am not fond of having to force her.

May change a wee bit because I do not know the weight of raisinbread.

I changed around my lunch and dinner as dinner will have to be eaten on the go while travelling to parents or at parents. I realise dinner does not look very appetising. It is chicken ragout (like really think chicken ...soup not sure now else to explain), but looks yuck haha. Was very nice though.

Friend used to coat pill in butter, and either get right to back of tongue and tilt her head up (cats head, not friends ....) then massage throat or put in a drinking straw and blow it to back of throat like using a peashooter. The things we do. There we go lostris a test for your brilliant English. Do you know what a peashooter is ? chips xx

That sounds good. Well, I am done with the pills but will ask the vet next time to show me how because I really do not want to hurt her. I do actually know what a peashooter is, I just do not know the Dutch word/name of Dutch equivalent for it.

Menu for yesterday looks nice, and the ragout looks like it would be really tasty. Smoked chicken is one of my favourite things. It tends to go into risotto in my house though.

Glad kitty is doing better and you are done with the pills. I am incredibly lucky that my male cat will cooperate with anything or my female cat is so greedy she will eat pills exactly as they are if you put them in front of her.

Is OH home tonight? Or at the weekend? At least you shouldn't be alone in the house for much longer. Are you going to do anything nice to celebrate when he gets home?
