Licking the Lid of Life....my esoteric diary

Thanks! I'm hopeful but pragmatic!!!

You have a b&m 20 miles away Sam. One at Crawley and one at Bognor. Thats if I got it right.
I picked up Earl grey tea today. 20 for .49p and peppermint tea .29p for 20. Ok it's not twinnings but I don't notice the difference. Also picked up some Knorr Herb Infusion Stock Pots and peppercorn ones for .29p. You do have to look at the dates thou.
Do I indeed? Well now there we go. Although Bognor is about as appetising as its name suggests (unless you like Butlins) I have been known to venture very occasionally in the direction of Crawley. They have a lovely big park with animals. I'll have to look it up and make a special visit!! Thanks Mary :) :)

Hello :D it's not been too bad thanks! A busy bee as usual haha! Yes I would get some and keep them, and I'm sure you'll be fine on the scales tomorrow!
Oooo I have also decided to get an Apple Watch when I get to target eeek! Will need some advice!

Yes I was thinking that as I have been looking at a watch or something similar for months! I like the rose gold or blue ones! What colour is yours?

Mine is silver on white because the more expensive ones only come in silver and black so I'm going to get a nicer strap and pretend I spent £8k hah!! I was tempted by the gold on navy or antique white (posh for cream) because my phone and iPad are in gold too!! You will have it in no time at this rate!!

Good job on the 2lbs Sam! Keep it up :)

Thanking you, thanking you very much!! :) :)

Food parcel on it's way.;)

Ooh can't wait. Don't forget to let me know the damage. I'll make cauli mash especially nom nom

I'm loving the mayflower @craftermary! I got spinach leaves in my Abel and coke box last week and wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them so I made a slow cooker spinach and chickpea curry and used the mayflower to thicken. It was gorgeous and made enough for two big bowls or 4 if I added rice. I ate one for lunch today and will have the other tomorrow. Possibly with some cauli rice!! I'm a convert so thank you very much!!! :) :)

Let me know when you run out.;)

I've never tried chickpeas so going to give them ago during Summer holidays. Can't do it before just incase there are consequences.:sick0019::)

Really? Let me know how you get on. I love chickpeas and find them very useful. I ate loads whilst I wasn't eating meat. Less now of course but still manage to squeeze them in. The trick is to rinse them really well out of the tin! I have dried ones too but they have to be soaked overnight and I can rarely be bothered with the faff!!

I will be sure to put in an order :) those two boxes will last me ages I reckon but next time I'm up Crawley way I will check out B&m. It strikes me as being a lot like the Range and I love a good mooch in there :) :)

I'm going to have to go to B&M now, I've fancied trying the mayflower curry for ages. Is it like Chinese curry?
I love chickpeas too and agree with Sam about the rinsing- same for any tinned bean really- rinse it till the bubbles stop forming (I read somewhere that doing this helps guard against excessive- ahem- windy side effects). Not sure if it's true but definitely takes the funny taste away!
Hopefully this doesn't sound too snobby but I find B&M like a poor mans Range- realistically the stuff is just better priced and there's more food :D

I agree @RosiePops . b&m and Home Bargains are poor man's Range. Like aldi and Lidl are poor man's Tesco and Sainsburys.;)

I've never tried any tin beans or any lentils come to that. They just haven't appealed to me. I will make sure I rinse them well as I don't need any more wind.

I have also looked at the Mayflower curry thingy too. We have none of the following:
Lidl, Aldi, B&M, Home Bargains, Tesco

-Aldi however opens in two weeks and there has been a 5 year battle to get a Tesco (now with the courts)

I cannot wait until Harrogate finally 'gets with the times'. On another note I have also heard about the mayflower curry stuff and it sounds v yum. I love Chinese curry!

Hope you're ok @lickthelid :)

I'm up for the poor mans anything right now. I'm longing for a proper pay day this month  yes @RosiePops its a Chinese style curry and actually very nice given I've never been fussed about Chinese curry. I'm genuinely looking forward to my luncheon as a result nom nom.

Is B&m quite big?

Some b&m's are big. Ours here has expanded but not got any more things in it. It's just spread out more. The one in Cribbs 20 miles away from me is bigger and has a lot more different things.
Know your prices before you go on buying household things like cleaning materials. It's not very often I come away with out buying something. I mainly look at tea, coffee, spices, cereal, rice.

You can go on their website to get an idea of what they sell and prices.

Ruth how do you live?? Haha

I'm good ta, how about you? I'm now officially on Summer holibobs but someone needs to let the weather know!!!!
