Lynne: Low Carb Fan

Hi Lynne, upside down Pilates? off to youtube. I've been 'walking with Leslie Sansone on youtube the 2 mile one. kinda like low impact aerobics, but a good workout for me.

Bless Orby- cats and dogs are sooo wonderful x

Susie, please dont think I was 'bigging it up' when I posted the link to the 3 mile vid. It was the first one I found, LOL! I have now found the 2 and the 1 and saved them all. :D

Right so today I embarked on the Leslie Sansone 1 miler. My DH had gone out, so I put the laptop on the coffee table and off I went. Within milliseconds I had 5 dogs howling and barking, jumping up me and leaping on and off the settee. At almost 3.30 mins the vid jammed..... This exercising lark isnt all about fitness, it seems.

Lol @your dogs Lynne, my cats like to snake around my legs while I'm try to 'walk with leslie'. Don't try the 5 big miles with a hangover to try and do damage limitation from the excesses of the night before I almost collapsed doing this last year. x

I have just completed the 1 mile. It was GOOD!! The dogs were OK till she upped the pace then they started sniffing at me and barking. Muffin likes to lean. So anyone looking in the window would have seen me apparently pushing and kicking dogs off me. The knees began to twinge at the 10 min mark but not bad at all. I like it very much and will keep at it. Maybe this will prepare me for that dodgy Yoga that involves strain on my knee.

Happily I don't get hangovers, because I rarely drink, so no excuses (other than pathetic fitness level) for not doing it.....

I have a slight sweat (wearing pyjamas and the room temp is 18c), but its anyones guess what state I will be in once the summer hits.

Ooh thanks Susie, I am chuffed you thought of me. I am just trying to log in at the mo, -internet slow. I never thought that when I got my Kindle, I would fill (ha) it will diet and exercise books, but that is definitely how its working out, and I LOVE it. I have been doing Leslie's 1 mile workout and getting on well, its not too much for me. I am just seeing how the knee copes. Dont really want to wear a support because it holds knee so firmly, I wont be able to move as fast as I need for the workout. But if the knee gets worse, I will wear it. I like Leslie's style, she is bright and makes the time pass. Now I am heading back to Amazon to see if I am 'in'.

I hope you are feeling well and not too shakey after your hectic social weekend, LOL!!!

Evening Lynne. Well done on doing your mile - always worth finding something you can do without pain! Xxx

Here she comes again, crawling back, dragging her big fat lardy arse. I fell off the wagon. I don't know what got into me, but I know carbs were there, definitely. I was in a fog of unclear thinking and some sort of allergy/infection. To be honest I have no idea what is going on, but I have had puffy/sore eyes for TWO years and that is NOT funny. I have been to the hospital and they dont know why. I have allergy pills but the puffiness is still there and its depressing because it varies in intensity and soreness (like sunburn). I have had sinus problems, ear ache, a slight cough, mild cold symptoms. I have changed all my toiletries and makeup. It may be food related, I have considered Coeliacs as one possible cause. Reading up on it, some of the symptoms add up. Even on Low Carb, its easy to find yourself having foods with gluten in, like Soy sauce..... To be honest I am not sure at all. Especially as my last attack started with a sore swelling on one part of my eyelid which then spread all over that lid then the other. I am going out tonight and I will be wearing make-up for the first time in about 2 or 3 weeks. It will be interesting to see if my slightly swollen lids re-inflate.

Believe me I have puzzled long about this problem and am clutching at straws. I remember the relief when the hospital told me it was allergy. I hoped the pills would return my eyes to their norm. It wasn't to be, but the hospital told me I also had Glaucoma and I have drops for that and they said my symptoms werent caused by the Glaucoma. I now know that SOME allergy pills cant be taken when you have Glaucoma, so though the hospital gave me the OK for trying other pills, I have to be careful. I have a few more days of these pills then will try another and hope it does the trick. If anti allergy pills don't work, surely it MUST be something I am eating?????

Anyway, in all this I lost the plot, once again. Today I have weighed in, noted the damage and am starting afresh. We are heading at a gallop towards the start of the holiday season, and being in an area where people come for their break, I want to look better than I do, because some friends will be coming this year. PLUS our eldest is getting married here at the end of August. His future wife AND her mother are svelte, so I just know that in the photos, I will look like a hippo, if I don't crack down on the carbs now.

Carby foods are linked to each other like a chain. If you eat one, another will follow it. Beware of the 'chain reaction'.

No wonder you fell off the wagon Lynne, sounds distressing. Hope it gets sorted soon. Your not allergic to the dogs are you? What about trying low carb and keeping them under 100. Maybe that would work and would be less tempted to fall off wagon having some carbs? X

Oh Lynne I'm so sorry to hear about your eyes giving you more trouble!

Maybe you need to have a scratch allergy test to see if they can narrow down the cause for you?

Anyway you're restarting with a positive attitude, and that's fab xxx

Susie, I cant find anywhere here that does the allergy testing. Yesterday I was going out to a St Patricks day meal. I wore makeup for the first time in about a month or more, and this morning the edge of my eyelids are swollen and transparent looking. I used Clinique eyeshadow and mascara (bought in november last year) and Bare Minerals foundation. I took off the eye makeup with Neutrogena oil free cleanser. I used a pure cotton pad, then removed the residue on my lids with plain water. Because I had read that rubbing the lids can make them swell, I tried to be gentle. When I bought the cleanser recently, I smeared some on my eyelids and waited for swelling and it seemed OK.

So, my next step is to try a different foundation (I have some Liz Earle) and see if there's a possibility that the powdery particles from the foundation has caused this swelling. But the Bare Minerals was bought in November last year, so its not old. I have to say that though this swelling has been going on for two years, nothing I used yesterday dates back two years. BUT what I use now, may have the same ingredients as something U was using two years ago. I have no faith I am onto something here, I could still be barking up the wrong tree. In the past two years I have suspected so many things and then found I might have been wrong. All I know is that there's a likelihood that it will take many days for the swelling to subside a bit and even then, my eyes will still feel heavy (but then the skin has stretched and maybe I will never feel right ever again :( )

It was so nice to be wearing makeup yesterday and look somewhere decent....

I don't use anything that has parabens or SLSs in it any more, either skin care, hair care or shower gel - too many short term links to rashes and long term links to cancer etc.

I know Dietkitty is a big fan of Liz Earle, which is all natural. I switch about, from all natural home produced products on eBay to making my own :)

Worth a shot?

(Hugs) Lynne. Sorry to hear your eyes still bothering you so much as must be so frustrating. Also sorry about the frustration with makeup which I echo.

I'm afraid my story won't help though - as you know I take antihystamine everyday for mild hay fever allergy. However I have had to give makeup up completely - yes really I never wear anything. I never wore very much but did like eye creams, eye liner and concealer......until I discovered that every single brand (no matter how hyper allergenic the claim) caused swelling or eczema around my eyes. Ok I admit that I haven't tried every brand in the world...but just decided that I'd rather have a healthier face than makeup.... So I use water to clean it, Simple moisturiser if I need it (try to avoid) and that's it! Then add the fact that I've discovered that wheat even in quite small doses (ie flour in a sauce) makes me have spots...then yes it could be food as well. So frustrating when we are doing a dance performance and everyone else is all dolled up - people do think I'm a bit odd :sigh: Oh yes and washing liquid/powder is another major problem for my face (from pillow case).

So if you can bear it then I do think it's worth going cold turkey and taking out all possible allergens for as long as you can bear (several months or even more). Then you can slowly add stuff back one step at a time and try to find if one of them is causing it. Unfortunately these things are frustratingly difficult to track down:(

Whatever you do, hope you can find a way forward that works x x

AAArgh!! I really hope I dont have to give up the makeup. By the evening Tuesday) they didnt look so bad along the lash margin. So, the good news is, it doesnt seem to be a full blown reaction this time. So, on friday I am going to wear the war paint again, but use a cream foundation to see if the bare minerals powder might have been an issue. It doesnt help that I now have the good old earache back that was part of the reason I went to the hospital about 10 weeks ago, they said the eyes sinuses and ear ache were all due to allergy, and gave me two months of meds and said they wouldnt give me any more because they were expensive. (and anyway, they didnt do much good for my eyes anyway!) So, I am now using one anti allergy pill and because that doesnt seem to be working, I will have to try a different one, but some I am unable to take owing to my Glaucoma. I have considered so many things from laundry chemicals, shampps, air freshners, even the water that I shower in. When you have allergy, you get paraniod, eh! I will only stop the makeup if I am 100% sure that it IS the makeup. But I know what you mean, because theres a clinique eye makeup remover that brings my eyes up and I was so sure it couldnt be that because it was clinique, that it was weeks before I clicked what it was, but they took it back and gave me another of their cleansers that was better for me. So, at least it wasnt money wasted.

I hope you can get to the bottom of this allerggy. You don't think it's a food or have you gone through all o f that x
