M-Mouse's Droppings

hey hun hope your well ..have you decided on atkins or dukan yet ?

Morning Tan, hope you had a good Xmas. I was really pleased to STS when I weighed on Monday despite having been a little naughty! My first spuds for 5 months!! I think I stayed the same because although I was being a little naughty ( a few chocs here and there) I was only having one meal a day! All bad I know, but it worked.

When we got back from Wales Monday night I decided to do Atkins induction for 10 days and see how I feel from there. I felt as though I was staying the same a bit too ofter despite being good. The two plans are quite similar really and I am not suddenly giving up bread and spuds. What I quite miss though is the yoghurt, but it will be good for me to get out of the habit of eating so much yoghurt - I think that may have been my stalling point!

What I like is the cheese, so I feel as though I am being naughty. I started yesterday and dropped 2 lbs overnight despite having eaten 120g of cheese! I'm not sure my tummy is coping with the butter though, so may go back to Dukan after the 10 days kickstart. This morning I had grilled sausages, bacon and scrambled eggs! How wrong is that !!??

omg bacon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont think id cope with the fat my stomach doesnt do too much richness
well done on the sts ....mine was not so good , but not a disaster
let me know how atkins goes though i may need a kick start

My tummy doesn't cope too well with richness either which is why I am reserving judgement - but didn't feel too bad last night, so will decide after the 10 days. Just needed a boost and being able to eat cheese kind of fits in well with this time of year. Atkins really is similar but can have veg every day (quite a limited list though) and not the yoghurt. Will still be hanging out here with my cyber-mates though!

lol cool dont desert us !!!!
i love cheese , but maybe a bit too much , as i wouldnt stop id say the nuts and cheese was my christmas downfall rather than chocolate ,well ok the baileys hotchocolates were a bit over the top ...
i may sneak a look at atkins and if after a couple of weeks dukan is still stalling me i may have a go

Yesterday I had scrambled eggs & turkey rashers
a kind of casserole made from lamb chops, with turnips and brocolli
steak and sprouts
- and then 120g total of cheese and some pieces of sliced gammon!!!

Today, sausage, bacon and scrambled egg
The rest of the lamb
- not sure about dinner yet - plus the cheese!

So not a lot different really, except I am counting the carbs in my veg.

I think this is also suited to when I do a roast when my family come around on Monday because I will be able to have pigs in bankets etc.

The counting of the carbs in the veg seems a bit of a pain to me though and things like onions are quite high. I had the sausages because I chose quite low carb ones. I am using this site.
Phase 1 Acceptable Food - Atkins.com

After the 10 day induction I can have nuts and a few fruits so I am already thinking of cakes with ground almonds!!

mmm i could live with the veg list !!!

hey hon. you dont have to have butter. in fact i try not to have too much. hope you have a lovely day today xxxxxx

Hey Manda :)

Glad you survived the xmas freeze :)...nice to see the forum alive and kicking albeit slightly quieter than usual....

Atkins induction does sound interesting... I think low carb definitely works for us all - it's just about getting the balance right so it works for us individually :)

for me bread/pastry IS the demon - foolishly bought 18 mince pies which have been and still are staring at me :D.... been pawning them off on anyone who visits!!

How many days into induction are you now? enjoying it still? xx

I am on day three and I am definitely enjoying the cheese!

Mouse good luck on the remainder of induction. Sounds like u made a good decision to fit with Chrissy. And like u mentioned u can always switch back. I think it's important not to make dieting the devil too! When it's easy and fits with your life it works best xx

aww it may drop off all of a sudden hun and if your not happy at end of induction you can cross back

Exactly. It never drops off me whatever I do but at least I can have a bit of cheese at the moment. In fact If I can have cheese on Atkins I wonder why Dr Du doesn't like it - the fat I guess.

Also because I didn't put on over Xmas I don't know that I can realistically expect to lose a lot first week?

I read somewhere with Atkins that you can gain at the beginning before you see really good losses. Not massive gain though just a couple of lbs then as your body stabilizes you start loosing. Luckily that you werent one of those.

What dat of induction are you up to? Are you having any adverse side effects?

Really nice that you could both meet up. Maybe one day I'll manage up to Paris to meet Jo (think Disney is happening this year, so watch this space).
