Martha's Diary - seeing it through to the end....

Hey Scott

Welcome to my diary

Well done on sticking to the diet and getting near goal I'm sure you are so happy about that.

How much you got left to loose??

My husband did Cambridge last year and lost 8 stone. He didn't follow the steps to maintenance tho and has gone up and down since march.

He's bk on plan starting tomorrow and he still has the excess skin and it probably will be exercise that will tone that up. You don't want to stress yourself about loosing more than you have to I'm sure when you reach goal and start exercising you will get all the bits you don't like sorted.

I'm I've lost almost 6 stone and another 6 to loose until goal so can't really advise you on the reaching goal part as I'm still quite a bit off that.

My friend Ria (crazy diamond ) on this site is very close to goal and she too started in January. She could maybe give you some insight into the nearing goal part.

Feel free to join into our ranting and moaning we are here to help each other on this journey.

I wish you luck on completing your journey :)

Thank you. Yeah I do feel a lot better and fitter and a lot more confidence in myself as a person as before that was things I lacked of. I have round about 14lbs I think or 13.

Thats brilliant! well done to him!! Was it a big increase when he gained or just pounds?

I wasn't going to do the plan steps to maintain I was only going to hit the gym hard but my consultant advised me to go up the steps as the people who do that keep it off for good so I'm not really sure what to do at the moment.

I completely understand I'm trying not to stress it's just because I've put everything on hold to be devoted to this diet and I think I'm around the 16/17 weeks. It's a long time and I really want my life back but I'm not giving up till I'm done!

Well done you! That's amazing. I bet you feel and see a massive difference in yourself?

Well you've been kind enough to reply to me and give me some pointers from you're husbands experience so I'm going to stick around on this forum and keep up to date with how you're getting on. Thanks for welcoming me and al be sure to speak to you're friend to.

That's no problem :) happy to help anyway I can.

He put on almost 20lb and Like you he planned on the gym and doing it himself lol but we are heading to America at the end of the month so he's going bk on plan until the holiday then probably when we get bk to get rid of the holiday weight. I really hope he follows the steps and does it correctly. I would definitely take your consultants advice because you don't want to have put ur life on hold like you say only to go bk to the start and really if you look at the steps the options have so much choice and I'm sure you will find it easy to stick with and you can go to the gym too! What's another few months of your life going up the steps and giving yourself a much higher chance of keeping it off. You have done it up to now right? I know it's one of those diets that you kinda want to get over and done with and you look pretty young and you've probably sacrificed your social life to slim down and thats really admirable.I'm 25 and I know how that feels - like your missing out but honestly you will be so glad you stayed in control through maintenance.

Glad your feeling more confident about yourself that's really good to hear.

Thank you I plan on continuing until I reach my goal hopefully by the end of the year. See how it goes anyway :)

Did you go up to step 2 on week 13? Week 13 starts for me tomorrow and just wondered how it effected your losses the week after?

I'm sure Ria will pop in at some point and give her advice.

Feel free to pop on for a natter anytime. Your always welcome.

Hi Scotty!

Completely agree with Martha, stick it out a little longer and use the steps, after this long it seems silly to just abandon ship as it were!

I plan on doing 5:2 after I haw finished the steps, maybe that Is also a good option for maintenance.

Ria

Oh dear! Just having some yoghurt mixed with a pack for my step 2 breakfast and I was not aware of how much my stomach has shrunk this past 12 weeks.

Feeling full after 2 mouthfuls is not something I'm used to! Lol

Long week ahead I think :/

Really? Well I think al speak to my consultant more about it I really don't want to put on the weight I've shifted. Good luck to him hope he gets back on track.

Yeah I'm only 21 so I have really stopped socialising the lot just now which is hard but will be worth it in the long run. That's brilliant you've came to far to and the way this years flying in you'll be at you're goal in no time!

I enjoyed week 13 the only thing I hated was my milk allowance struggled to take it I think it's because I had went 12 weeks without actually consuming milk on it own? My weigh in on the week when i done 13 i lost 2 and a half pounds don't really think you're meant to lose on it supposed to stay the same but i think everyone is different. Week 13 gave me a restart on my weight loses near the end of 12 weeks I was losing 2/3lbs and at the start I was shifting 5lbs and above so when I finished week 13 my weight lose was pretty high just like when I started and now there starting to go back to 2/3 lbs again.

Good luck for today!! I'm sure you'll enjoy it and the results of you're weigh in once you're off 13 and back to start.

I think I will. I'm going to speak to my consultant more about it tomorrow.

I can't remember what 5:2 is again. I will need to look more into my booklet. I wasn't going to maintain with there help I was going to do it myself but from Martha saying about her husband then I think i might just follow the steps to maintain.

Yea definitely. It's a good idea to follow the steps. I don't think it will be too difficult for you.

21 wow! I'm sure you have turned down quite a few nights out. Lol well done you. You will be back out there feeling great in no time.

It right you don't want to ruin all ur great work up to now. Stick it out. You will be glad you did.

Week 13 agreed with you then. That's great to hear. Hoping my losses are boosted too.

I'm having the yoghurt instead of the milk on a few days this week. You don't realise how ur stomach shrinks its taking forever to finish a meal lol

Thanks :) hoping this week flys in so I can get bk to loosing well again. Keep me posted on what your consultant says.

Really not impressed today. Noticed how awful my skin in on my arms and thighs. Making me so paranoid about America now.

It's got so bad and I've still another 6 stone to loose, it will be 100 times worse by the time I get to goal.

Feeling really full from the yoghurt earlier. Who knew it could be such an awful feeling after not eating for so long x

Just look t the pics I sent you. You will look just like that! You have to believe that or you won't be able to do it.

your skin will catch up and look amazing just like you! X

yuk don't like yoghurt! Lol

Yeah I've completely stopped going out with my mates and socializing in a alcohol atmosphere and i was a beer drink before i started dieting so i wont be able to trust myself around the stuff lol.

I was quite paranoid about week 13 as i didn't know what to expect but now that I've done it then restarted my weight lose was brilliant. That's so true you will realize how much you're stomach has shrunk from trying to eat higher allowances of food, probably wont finish you're full meal. I don't like yogurts so i had to just go with the milk, would have rather-ed it was yogurt then it would be eating and over and done with fast.

You'll be back to you're routine in no time :). yeah i will do.

5:2 is the 'Fasting diet' so 5 days you eat what you want but for 2 (most do Monday and Thursday) you eat only 600cals, there's a book about it by Michael Mosley - it's a great read! Nothing to do with Cambridge though I think Cambridge is an easy solution on fasting days!

The pics do spur me on believe me.

Just gets on my nerves. I know il need some kind of surgery by the end of it and I've prepared for that but I'm hoping the exercise will help it along a little.

The yoghurt lol was very filling. Can't see myself being hungry anytime soon

Oh okay. I think i heard my sister talk something about that, was it in the newspaper or magazine a few weeks ago?

Has anyone followed it yet and got results with maintaining?

Honestly my CDC hasn't had any surgery and looks amazing. Her arms look like they have always looked that way? And her face and neck are te same. She does have some excess skin on her stomach but can't notice with clothes at all. (Se is always in vests too so I can see all of her arms.

she only got to goal about 6 months ago x

Il wait it out after I get to goal. Don't worry I know it takes a while to catch up so il have to grin and bare it for the time being :) thanks girls xxx

I've not experienced any sagging of my skin its just soft tissue mainly on my chest area as i used to be a 48 inch chest but my consultant said that would tightening up with me hitting the gym and because i am young my skin is young and will gradually go back to normal i also haven't experienced anything up with my skin, my skin is looking better than it did before to be honest its allot smoother and shinier doesn't look as de-hydrated as before either.

Is everyone just different? or does it depend on which plan you're on or that?

Think everyone is different Scott yea.

I'm just impatient lol and it probably will improve so il just go with the flow and hope for the best definitely.

You will defo tone up when you move up the steps and start going to the gym
