Ok so after doing all the lunches and stuff I'm sitting watching Embarrassing Fat bodies... Does anybody else watch these sorts of programmes hearing the people say 'oh I've tried everything but can't lose weight' and actually shout at the tv? I literally have sat shouting at the telly 'just stop eating cr@p!' or 'follow bloody SW!!'

You can lose frigging weight if you actually want to! Grrrrr!

Not everyone can be as honest with themselves about just how out of control their eating has got, also not everyone has the strength of character and willpower to persevere at changing their lives. Why do you think we all keep coming back and hoping yours and others oomph! and success keeps us motivated whenever the going gets tough? Being on the better side of the journey I can understand why you must get frustrated with them though. I'm more worried about your lack of control around technical things, shouting at the tv, laughing at your mobile...can't imagine what the heck the microwave has to deal with :O lol

YES! But I love those kind of shows. It always gets me when the larger people cry because they're so fat but then next screen they're stuffing a donut into their gob. Vicious circle.

Oh I so get everything you have said.

BUT! there is a girl on here who is 20 and told that if she continues she will have heart attacks by the time she is 25. Yet she still has 10 Yorkshire puddings and loads of salt for dinner. Wtf? Had I have been told of health complications before by the docs it would have snapped something in me. Her mum was like 'as long as she is eating something...', er no you stupid woman!!

As for my microwave... Don't even get me started :D xx

Now I've lost weight I wish everyone else could do it and it sounds bad but when I see overweight people stuffing their faces at Greggs etc I want to go up to them and say don't do it! Especially young people...stop now before you do too much permanant damage! but I spent years stuffing my face and not thinking I could do anything about it so I can't really criticise. I'd love to be able to go into schools and things to try and motivate young people to lose but why should they listen to me lol x

I watched Body Squad prog last night & I was the same just talking to the people & just shouting try SW you can still eat & lose weight. What shocked me was the part about childrens school uniforms, & how big they are getting, that really should not be happening. IMO we should be teaching people how to cook & what foods to eat, I'm not saying we can't eat burgers, pizza, mars bar, but some people do need educating. I also find the programme a bit upsetting that the people have such a sad life.

I concur. I am exactly the same. I get super frustrated with my parents as my Dad has health problems but yet they eat the most awful diet and everytime I see them I nag so badly like I'm a saint.

I'd love to go into schools and show them before and after pictures to motivate people. I truly believe if I can (ye of little motivation) can do it well anyone can xx

I watched some of that too .
My son has been weighed recently as part of a scheme in school and going by his bmi he is overweight and we have had a letter about it and he has also been invited to a weekly activities thing but it annoyed me in one way becasue he does eat loads of crap if I am honest but he does also eat what healthy stuff I can get him to and he does a lot of sport with football 4 times a week. I think it was done quite clumsily as the letter about the activities was adressed to him but not in a child friendly way and didn't make it sound fun. He is also very muscley for his age and stocky and I really don't think he needs it but there are families that do but are many of them really going to partake in the scheme.
Theres so many different diets out there sometimes people try but because the diets don't combine well it doesn't work....aaaaaggghhh its so frustrating! x

I'd like to show them before and after with the after dressed up and made up and then show them the not so pretty side of it (my stretch marks and saggy skin etc) lol to say this is why you need to stop NOW x

I just tried to type something out on my phone, and lost the connection.

I get very frustrated at the lack of knowledge about Slimming World.
It could help so many people who are this desperate....but...... something like their own lack of confidence or misconception or knowledge of slimming clubs could be stopping them.
I am lucky that I found SW when I did, because my own eating habits were spiralling out of control, and who knows where I would be now if I didn't have a leaflet drop through my door., and had carried on stuffing my face with 3 mars bars for brekkie and bottle of wine every weekend, with 2 or 3 takeaways a week.
With out judging anyone, we need to spread the word about how different their lives could be if they gave SW a try.
That's why I became a consultant, so I could help those people. xx
ps I'm sorry to Minky for saying that on your thread!
I fell asleep watching it, but am going to catch up later on channel 5 on demand.

I agree with everything you guys have said. Unfortunatly people dont want to listen to what you have to say and are happier in denial. Speaking from experience, it has taken me nearly 10 years to get motivated to do something about my weight. When the time is right for them, that is when they will lose weight, until then whatever you say and do will fall on deaf ears

Its the children but that makes me so sad the older boy in the family I nanny for is very overweight. Mum says it gets him down and he doesn't want to go to school but then each weekly shop they buy 4-5 cheese pizzas (full size) and he has one after school most days, it's 1240 calories for the whole pizza and that's just one meal! I try and encourage him to have a couple of slices and something else with it but even if he agrees the minute my back is turned he scoffs the leftovers. God knows what he's eating at lunchtime at school too. Makes me cross cos if they didn't buy these things for him he wouldn't be able to eat it, and at least then what he has at home would be healthy ish. I don't get it...

Exactly Ems, I would love to have the balls to say here I am all glammed up in clothes but look at the actual damage that is done underneath. Aint a pretty sight! xx

THIS IS WHAT I HATE!! I know you can't blame the parents all the time and say that everyone lives by example but jeez, c'mon! Its a child and they will eat what they are giving and it gives them a headstart in becoming obese. I am no saint (clearly!!) and I don't want to sound like a preacher but its super frustrating. I know its one of those subjects that opens up a can of worms but it really gets my goat xx

Lets do it Minks...Saggy Girls on tour ;)

To be fair you would all probably be horrified at what my son eats  I went to the Doc with him at one point about his behaviour and mentioned his diet and she said(in front of him!) the food is the least of the worries....cheers for that doc!
