was completely off plan yesterday as i knew dad was going to GP in the morning about his breathing. he has already been twice in the past fortnight and been given 2 lots of anti-b's and steroids. i told him to insist on tests and he knows it's not an infection.
i rang from work at 12pm and he had gone straight to hospital for tests on his heart. the battery on my phone died and i burst into tears, so my clinical mananger sent me home. once i was home i rang again and he explained he was coming home but GP thinks it's his heart - he already had a bi-pass and mechanical heart valve done 11 years ago and 3 years ago had a £22k!!! ICD unit fitted.
i waited at home and ate 3 slices white bread with cheese and coleslaw and a big bag of kettle chips! then he came home with mum and was knackered but happy. somehow he'd managed to have blood tests, an x-ray and ECG then he wandered up to the cardiac ward and saw a nurse and 2 specialists!!!!!!!!!!!! he had no appointment, but they were brilliant and reassured him he would be fine.
i was so relieved when he got home as 3 years ago when they fitted the ICD they said the next step was a heart transplant! but i think the ICD must have advanced even further as he will be going in and they're going to adjust the blood flow to his heart. they don't even have to operate.
so after all the stress we ended up with chinese! i had a huge plate of chips and spring rolls. then dan came home a few hours later and he ordered a chinese - i had a chip butty and more spring rolls! WHOOPS!
