Moonlights' (temporary) Maintenance

Eh last time I took these painkillers regularly I just couldn't lose weight at all, it's too depressing.

Food today:

Peanut butter

Roast beef, leeks, cauliflower, asparagus, spinach

Salami crisps, mozzarella, spring onion

Mim with cheese

Mfp 25g carbs inc meds

((hugs)) ML - so unfair xxx

i wonder if that is what is halting my weight loss doc gave me tramadol for my back. hope your feeling good now xx

Yes, I find some meds can be a nightmare for weight loss - antibiots for instance. Hugs ML - hope you have a better day today xx

Oh pretty rubbish but muddling through. Freezing today for some reason.

So I gained 3lbs from my unwanted evening off at the Paralympics. Got back down to posted. Had to go back on my prescription painkillers because of my back. Gained 7lbs overnight!!! Stopped taking them yesterday and will just deal with the pain (am allergic to most painkillers including tramadol and anything with a morphine base so my painkiller options are limited) and am back down 3lbs again this morning.

1. I really hate putting my body through this degree of flux, it cannot be good for it.

2. Can't really expect anything better than a sts this week - if I even manage to get that - and it's disheartening. I feel like so much time has been wasted at this point. Ah well, can't do owt but keep on with it.

Wow moonlight your pictures are amazing where do you get your ideas from???? i have only scrolled through your diary quickly (tonight i will stalk) I am sorry to hear you are feeling to good and hope things improve soon xxxxxx but you have inspired me so so much, i thought eating this way i may be slightly limited you have blown that idea out of the water thankyou xxxx rest and take care love fran x

They're mostly terrible iPhone pictures! But thank you. Ideas are mainly from me feeling like eating something and figuring out a way I can have it. I also see lots of other peoples ideas and have a go at my own version. Im a terrible cook so everything i do has to be mega simple. Do note that I'm on owl and almond flour based recipes are not for induction though.

Eta re painkillers: from past experience it's bloating which would eventually go if I stayed on them but it would take a good while and they make me stall, too. Hopefully I can cope without - I'm supposed to still be on them regularly anyway but now only take when things are dire.

Hello ML ... hope the pain has been tolerable today? xx

I'm holding up- sorry if I'm not managing to get round to everyones diaries right now.

Food today:

Pork belly with spring onion, mushrooms and garlic

Peanut butter

Quorn ham with cheddar and cucumber

Mfp: 22g carbs

Did my pork belly with a soya sauce and 5 spice marinade - really nice, I might try it with chicken soon.

Morning ML... Menu looks fab and loving the sound of that recipe! I think the book should be called Moonlight's Tasty Bites!

I'd definitely order a copy from Amazon! Xxx

I agree - love the recipes you're posting on the Recipes sticky :)

Maybe we should think about self publishing a low carb recipe book????

Morning ML, you don't give yourself enough credit for what you do well. Your posts are so full of advice, I always go to your thread first when I log on to minimins. Also although you might not think you are a good cook your menus always sound good and you are being much more adventurous than I am, I am so nervous of adding anything other than induction foods and coleslaw.....how interesting is that! I will change that from next week when i am over my first two weeks back.

Thanks guys xx I am thinking of possibly starting a blog to put recipes on, but I'm such a procrastinator when it comes to my real work, that might only make things worse.

Am having hot porridge right now! Fear not, it's flax porridge. Just 2 tbsp flax mixed with alpro milk and microwaved, then more milk and sweeteners added and stirred in. It's nice - does need a lot of sweetener though to take the flax bitterness out. But comforting and filling once made.

Had to take a pain killer last night - will be lucky if I am even close to a sts this week, how depressing.

Evening ML... What about oat bran? Is that very carby? X

Hi ml ((hugs)). You are still doing amazingly - at least eating right keeps you in best possible position xxx

Oat bran is very carby yes - allowed on Dukan but that's a moderate carb, not low carb diet. I thought the flax porridge was nice - will definitely have it again.

Food today:

Flax porridge with alpro milk

Venison steak with 2 eggs, mushrooms, spring onion

Cheddar cheese, 200g celeriac chips, cucumber

Iamnotti biscuits (recipe below)

Mfp: 25g carbs

Iamnotti biscuits

These are something I came up with on a whim after looking at a recipe for amaretti biscuits.

1 egg white
35g almonds
Sweetener of choice
Flavoring of choice (I used almond)

Whisk egg white to stiff peaks then carefully fold in the almonds and sweetener. Put walnut sized spoonfuls on a greased baking tray and pop in oven until golden brown. For me it was 15 mins at 180.

Quantities of egg whites to almonds could be adjusted, I was just using what I had lying round, but the texture was nice - not crispy all the way through like real amaretti but crispy round the outside and spongy in the middle - very tasty.

Note: this is an owl recipe, not technically suited for induction.
