My Low Carb Journey

Think I will give the nuts a miss for now and redo phase 1 although must admit to being intrigued about the South beach diet............am a firm believer in the fact that each diet needs tweaking to suit the individual and may find something of interest so will google that tomorrow.

I know eating more fats and proteins will ward off the hunger, but think it takes a little while for the carbs to leave the body...........but I may just be talking out the top of my head!!!!!:8855:

Would you believe it............typed a load and just lost it..............dog jumped up and caught the mouse and then it was gone :sigh:

Now, what did I tell you all...................

I'm not hungry but have an awful compulsion to eat, keep going into the kitchen and looking in the fridge coz that's where the chocolate is lurking and so far all I've come away with is a cuppa..................but I know they are there and I want them.............not for any other reason than I like them :sigh:

Breakfast was a cuppa, lunch tuna salad and tea was home made chilli...........had some sour cream in the fridge and forgot about it ...huh!!!!
Get paid tomorrow so will be shopping over the weekend and want to get some phase 1 stuff and do that for a week and then hopefully this compulsion to eat, just coz its there, will be gone............I can live in hope.

was going to ask what you all snack on, but then remembered that on the Harcombe plan she advocates 3 meals a day no snacks............I just need to get back on track and remember that tomorrow when I've been good I will be able to polish my halo and I will be another day nearer to no cravings.................:)

Mick is upstairs watching footie and has clutched in his hands family bags of revels and minstrels..............its as much as I can do not to walk up the stairs......................:sigh:

Step away from the stairs and the fridge, close the kitchen door and glue yourself to minis lol

Not sure which browser you use Dawn but sometimes if you hit edit quick you can use the "undo" function to recover it. Doesn't always work but sometimes you get lucky.

So far, so good, off to grab a glass of water in a mo.................all tea'd out now :8855:

Will have to remember that tip re the "undo"................thank you. The second post is never as good as the first is it............think its coz you have lost the will to live by the time you try to repost...........:giggle:

LOL. Don't I know it!

Well as I thought I was pleased with myself for not succumbing to anything naughty, but this is another day of being on track but again at home I just want to eat................is this just a bad habit? the feeling that if I'm at home I need to eat.................gonna have some bacon and scrambled egg with a mim soon maybe that will sort it out.

Still low carb, so it's all good.

If I've been off track for a bit it's like starting again - so more hungry in first week then as your body gets used to burning it's own fat, I have less of a problem. So if I were you , I would do the usual tricks:
- drink some water
- distract yourself for ten mins and then see if you're still hungry
Or the ultimate test
- would you eat steamed white fish and green leafy veg with no butter or yummy flavourings? If so then you're probably genuinely hungry!

I've gone off plan again..................ate bacon roly poly with gravy and peas tho no chips and I only had a small piece and on a small plate..........can you tell I'm trying to convince myself that its not a drama :8855: then finished it off with ice-cream and banana :D:D:D I'm not going to feel too guilty about it as had it really enjoyed it and tomorrow is another day. But just shows I have absolutely zero will-power!! Back on track tomorrow...................still struggling with breakfast though.............gonna have coffee and cream tomorrow

Bananas might not be low carb, but they're healthy. And the ice cream has calcium in it.

Welcome back! Was worried when you didn't come back you'd completely thrown in the towel. You can soon recover from your blips - I have total faith in you.

Last weekend I thought I'd allow myself a slice of coffee and walnut cake. It was thoroughly delicious and in itself wasn't a problem. Sadly though I turned it into a complete carb & junk binge. Back on track now, but it happens :(

Re read whatever motivated you in the first place or treat yourself to a new book / DVD or something. You could try rewarding your efforts instead of punishing yourself?

Good luck, dawn. I have my fingers crossed for you

Thank you all so much for your posts, I'm currently at work (lunch-time, so allowed :) ) and can't multiquote, or like or anything else for that matter ie paragraphs, so this will look like a mega paragraph!!!! I find if I go off plan for even a little while it takes me ages to get back on to eating properly again and I'm not talking days I'm tallking weeks or even months. I was totally on plan from Feb to mid-May then went on holiday no 1, played around for another 4 weeks, some days on plan some days off and then went on holiday no 2. Came back from that one a couple of weeks ago and then had some really awful news so again not been on plan properly and my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and know that I won't be on plan that day and its like my brain is saying what's the point for a couple of weeks. When the reality is that in a couple of weeks I could lose several pounds.........so why???? I wanted to be a 16 for my birthday and at one point that was totally achieveable and now I'm not even going to be a 17!!!!! :):).........Totally my own fault, so I have got to accept it all and move forward. I need to shake up my eating plan coz I also think that something is stalling my loses and think its probably diary as I just love my cuppas and I eat cheese if I feel hungry. Also breakfast is still a problem if I'm gonna avoid fruit and I hate eggs more than 2 mornings running. Had thought about JUDDDing and missing breakfast altogether, but missing it daily wouldn't be ideal. anyway I've got to give myself a good shake and achieve something for the next 2 weeks..................may go and have a read in the Harcombe forum too to get some tips. Thank you for your comments and support..............its invaluable xxxx

Porridge with some Linwoods Cocoa, Acai, etc mixed into it. Then maybe an apple with some peanut butter or wee bit of cheese a couple of hours later.

Have a look at some of the food doctor items.. Porridge has no dried fruit in it just seeds is quite nice. They also do a granola toasted oats with apple juice and has pumpkin seeds etc in it - is very yummy - maybe to one day eggs and then another porridge etc.,

Food doc also does bagels and whole grain pita

Not sure if your allowed these things on your plan ?

I'm like that Dawn takes me forever to get back on to it once I've had a break. I tend to play with it for a few weeks then miraculously a day happens when focus returns. Been really focused since monday last week but like you have a birthday looming and not only mine, in the same week have my aunts 70th party and my brother and sister's birthdays. July is a nightmare not to mention expensive lol.

How about fish for breakfast? I noticed the Atkins forum recommends the unsweetened Alpro Soya milk as a low carb alternative to real milk.

Thank you for all your suggestions.............unfortunately fruit is a trigger food for me and has me running to the cupboard in search of something sweet :( On my plan I'm not allowed soya products..............sometime wonder if, tho it suits me, maybe a different low-carb approach might be better and maybe atkins would sort out my losses again as I am struggling.............will have a couple of good days and then ruin it all in one meal, tho tbf I suppose one meal in the grand scheme of things is OK the key is to make sure I stop at one meal off plan...............I am craving all sorts of "worng" foods at the moment and wish my focus was not being quite so elusive................or shy :8855: I can do porridge by doesn't that then kick you out of ketosis?................mind you that's assuming I have ever managed to get into it :8855:
