That's great - bet a few applied too - very useful to have a term time job esp if u have children - do u have a family?xx

Awwww wow! I start my first post on Monday 2nd, hope I'm still there in 23yrs time!!!! X

Ooh, good luck! Which age group will you be working with? Is it as a general TA or will you be attached to a child/children? I'm with a ten year old boy atm, who has been kept out of class (ridiculously) for the past two years. He is autistic and, with the last Head (we've just had a new one), she was quite happy for the TA to let him colour, play on the computer, etc., just so long as he wasn't kicking off! The new Head said to me, just before Christmas - 'When we come back in January, you're having Connor and I want him back in class.' Nice man - no discussion! :D I was quite worried but decided to just have higher expectations of him and, luckily, so far, it's working! He comes into the classroom in the morning with the rest of the class, gets his book out and starts to read (he'd never read a book before in school and yet, at home, he's happy to do so). He now goes out to play, whereas before, he always stayed in his little room, alone. Basically, long story short - he's joining in with everything. The only time we had a little blip was yesterday, in indoor athletics, when he misunderstood an instruction. He ran into the corner, crying, tipped a chair over and covered his face. I spoke to him quietly, then left him to 'come round', which he did within about 5-10 minutes. Really proud of him and just hoping it continues.

I really hope you love your new job, Serena. It can be so rewarding. Good luck. xx

Wow Kathy that's amazing - 9lb loss - were u eating very little or using ur lovely recipes?xx

I was eating loads, actually! I did use my recipes, mostly but had one night where we had BGTY sausages and mash and another where we had salmon fillets with new potatoes and petit pois. I think, basically, it was just because I stuck to it properly! :) xx

Wow Kathy! You sound like an asset to your school, the new Head and most importantly Connor :) I will be a Year R Class TA, it's my dream role so I'm delighted to have been chosen especially since I don't graduate till June!!!! X

Was your Poppy born in November too x

Our Poppy was a July 2005 baby and is still full of surprises - this week's one was that she suggested to the music teacher that she changed to an alto singer in the choir - so the teacher asked her to sing alto on her own as a trial then agreed she is an alto! What's your Poppy into?xx
