NannyDoreen & Upndown's daily diaries

Right - at last I'm pleased to announce I've actually had one day fully on plan - big deal some may say (not you lovely people I know) but it feels good - I was wondering if I had started on a downhill slide! Thanks to you all - I really think if it wasn't for this lovely thread I wd have given up long ago - but with us all sharing our ups and downs (hee hee!) it's helped me so much and feel I can lose this week's gain (with your support!).

I don't think I had many syns yesterday - I've just been trying to think - my eve meal changed to the Sticky Chilli Chicken cos hubby bought the chipotle paste so that was 3 syns. He also bought a large bag of lamb and mint crisps made by a Welsh company - lamb/mint is my fave food and he bought them as I've been ill - sweet of him but I was worried that I'd scoff the lot - but luckily I didn't like them- they tasted more like sugar & salt crisps to me!

He also bought a large bag of jelly babies - but I asked him to put them in his car! I now feel more confident about today - here's the food plan:

Brunch: 2 boiled eggs, red pepper, carrot sticks, beet, pickled onion and lettuce - just added salt so syn free!
D: leftover chicken from yesterday - might try SW chips with it - not really been successful in the past but will check out some comments on here and see if I can improve! Served with cauli and carrots I think. May have a freddo later - 5 syns.

If I need more I'll have fruit, cucumber, pepper and carrot sticks ooh and I have some SW soup in the fridge - also will do some exercise - don't think sowing seeds counts! Hope you all have a good day xx

Thanks for pointing out that I had low syns before my binge early this morning, I had forgotten that. That really means I was only 7ish over not 14. Great news.

If you are bending over to sow the seeds or even just pottering it is still movement that you are not always doing so it is still exercise. Great you didn`t like the crisps and good jelly babies in the car. I love them. It is good you had a day on plan, one leads to two etc etc. Good luck with getting your head in the right place. I am glad I didn`t go off the rails after my problem. Obviously my head is working ok still.

I also believe this thread really helps. It is like confessing :). I reckon that chat with my SW friend really helped me come out of hiding plus the response on here for my "terrible" gain. That`s how it felt.
Nice to have a lie in. I feel pretty good, not as tired as I thought I would be. I am going to have some soup for lunch then after the rush will walk down to the cafe and have a coffee or something.
Last night I had Twinings Ginger as I had run out of milk allowance . It was really lovely. A bit of a bite at the back of the mouth. Will definitely buy those again.
I have today decided to buy the 1% milk. I had some at Haverhill and I find I do not use so much as skimmed and it has a good taste to it. Will still get 300ml so plenty for my coffees.

Have a good day Linda U & C and you Kathy and all of the lovely ladies on out thread.

Oh yes and Millie too

I just realised sitting here sewing or typing that my head is aching again. Not feeling stressed or anything. Just had a chat with Linda. I was sewing then came onto computer and head started. Maybe looking down and it making my neck start. I hold sewing higher.

I reckon it is my eyes. Doc at hospital was to do a Field test to see how much my left eye is seeing around. I have a cateract in that eye and they won`t do anything until it is a certain radius. He did say it was getting worse. Not going back until July to see that consultant but will keep it in mind.

I may give optician a ring if I keep getting them and ask her to do a test. Luckily don`t have to pay optician as diabetic.

Yes, I'd get it tested, if you can, Doreen. Especially with it being free! I know it's not the same but if I have my head down, even for a short while, it can set my headaches off but it's all since the brain haemorrhage so not the same situation as yours. Really restrictive thought, at times, isn't it? Hope you can get sorted.

Lovely to hear how cheery you sound today, despite your lack of sleep. I think the sunny days help the mood feel lifted, don't you? I've got all my washing out on the line and may attempt some gardening later. I really need to buy some pebbles (shame I don't live in Wales, then I could just pop down to the beach) to put under the bay window in my lounge. There're loads of weeds coming through and it looks such a mess.

Glad your Syns weren't as awful as you thought they were. Another big plus for your lovely thread - folks can point out things that aren't always obvious to us! :)

Anyway, have a lovely day and I really hope your headache goes off very soon. xx

Thanks Kathy - you may have seen in another post that hubby went shopping and came back with more chipotle paste - so we had our fave recipe after all! It was delicious - you'll see I've posted a rave review - do that each time so that newbies can see how delish your recipes are!!

Lovely for Pete to go horse riding I'm sure - my sisters used to ride but I was terrified and Poppy goes too but she's still braver than me!! Hope you enjoyed your tea - anything with chorizo is a hit here!

As you say you'll never know what your weight was last week but being back on plan will surely have limited any damage? Good luck with your WI xx

I have noticed that you often point out recipes that are on the recipe thread, Linda. That's really kind of you and I'm glad you enjoy them. What a lovely hubby to bring you the chipotle paste! :) Yes, we enjoyed our meal, thanks. As you say, anything with chorizo in has got to be a hit! :D

Really glad you're feeling a little better now and maybe some fresh air whilst gardening will make you feel even better. I may do some gardening later, as it's such a lovely day. I'm not particularly green-fingered though so it'll be more a case of just tidying things up. Can't really grow too much with my two rabbits running free in the garden - well, that's my excuse anyway. :)

Enjoy the rest of the day, Linda and glad you seem back on track now too. xx

Very quick hello, still on phone but Virgin have promised to look into our connection issues within 5days.

Jamie has done well, had his cast off today and next week will go back for repeat X-ray but seems a lot better.

Millie was sick again this evening, a shame as shed eaten quite well (compared with recently) and then lost it. She went straight off to sleep afterwards.

I've eaten well today, bit over syns but not much but weekend won't be on plan. Next week, well no promises but we'll see.

Have read all posts and hugs to you all, we all have problems it seems. My posts may be lacking but I'm thinking of you all. Xx

Lovely to hear from you, Linda and glad you have your appetite back again. Never mind about SW just now. You have more important things on your mind and you can soon pick it up again when things have improved. At least you know it's doable and we're all here for you. So sorry to hear Millie still isn't well but great news that Jamie has had his cast off. Hope things look good when he goes for his x-ray.

All the best to you and big hugs too. :hug99: xx

Thanks Kathy
I have just tried to look at your profile and find your diary but I cant work my way around the site that well. I have found your recipes thread though, might need to do as you say and try something new every week. Thank you.

Nice to see your quick post mummy mins. keep safe and well we will be around when you are able to post. (well I'll try and not keep going AWOL!)

Hi Bubble. No you wouldn't have found my diary, as I don't post it! :D Must admit, trying new recipes just keeps me interested enough to stick with it and SW is so flexible, it's easy to come up with new things to eat.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, Bubble. xx

Thanks Kathy. My headache went off within 1/2 after I stopped typing. Probably doesn`t help as it is on a `tray` on my lap.

Hope you have a good day.x

Hi - you're welcome - I think your thread is fab so happy so tell everyone! Yes hasn't it been a lovely day - I did what I wanted - but got tired - so I've come in - will have something to eat and see if I can muster some energy to go out and do a bit more! Yes no point in growing any food with bunnies around - plus you're working and it is time consuming - but I enjoy it!

We have left over chicken but no sauce - so might make a curry sauce - from you thread of course - yes hubby is very kind and thoughtful. Enjoy the rest of the day xx

Oh that's a nuisance - yes if I were you I'd go to the optician - and great you don't have to pay! Hope the headache disappears xx

Glad your headache's gone - my posture's bad with I type on my knee and end up with a pain in the neck - no witty comments please ;) xx

Aw, thanks for your lovely comments, Linda. Enjoy your curry or whatever you end up with! :) I've got a beef stew slowly simmering away in the oven. Was going to change it to something else, with it being such a lovely day but we won't be eating until about 9 o'clock so think we'll feel like it by then. It's been gorgeous today, hasn't it? Just makes you feel so much better.

Have just put the bunnies to bed and they're just finishing off some of the broccoli we'll be having later, in their hutch. Was going to leave them out a bit longer, as it's so nice but they're a bit like cattle, knowing when their tea time is. They sit outside the patio doors, just staring at you, so you end up feeling guilty and give in!! :bunnydance: Have a lovely evening, Linda. xx

Oooh I've not heard of 1% milk - might try that - I don't use a lot of milk but it all helps! I smiled when I read your head is still working - I'm glad about that - you'd be in trouble if it wasn't hee-hee! Plus a bonus not to feel tired too! And you're right - you did really well not to go off the rails after your problem - so easy to turn to food for comfort I find - but it doesn't make things better and I feel bad about overeating afterwards - so a big well done for that!!

I'm hoping I'll stick to the plan now - fine up to now! Yes this thread has been a godsend to me - even my hubby says it's really good for me!

Yes I suppose the gardening is exercise - I've filling pots/seed trays with compost today and some of them were heavy so thanks for pointing that out. Enjoy the rest of your day xx

Aaah cute about the bunnies knowing when it's their bedtime - better than children (well my children at least!).

With you mentioning broccoli - I said to my husband a couple of weeks ago that I was disappointed that the few broccoli plants I bought last Autumn - had hardly seemed to have grown an inch and no sign of broccoli - but after this good weather they've grown a little but more importantly they've all grown broccoli spears which you just cut off as you want them and they grow more! Your bunnies wd love them I think! Enjoy your beef stew - nice whatever the weather I think! xx

Updating my food!

Well Day 2 in the can yay!! I feel more confident now but I shouldn't speak too soon! Here's my updated food for today - Sat 18 April

Brunch: 2 boiled eggs, red pepper, carrot sticks, beet, pickled onion and lettuce - just added salt so syn free!
D: SW veg soup as a starter, then leftover chicken from yesterday - with Kathy's curry sauce, SW chips with it - they were very filling but I wasn't keen on them - I need to improve the way I cook these! Served with leftover cauli and carrot. [/QUOTE]

Treats: Had a mini choc ice cream 6 syns, apple, pear, melon, SW brownie 2 syns - Total syns = 8

Well done with your food, ladies! Gold star for both of you! :)

Loving the sound of your broccoli plants, Linda. That'd be great, just cutting what you need and then re-growing!

Hope you both get a good night's sleep tonight. xx
