NannyDoreen & Upndown's daily diaries

I know exactly what you mean Cloudy. It is often like that unfortunately.

The lady in the club (Debbie) is a regular so I know if I needed to I could turn to her. I wouldn`t want to push it too much. It is just knowing that she described exactly how I felt. Nobody ever has before. Generally people think they know but really don`t. Well I am sure some would of course but have not found another like Debbir. That is not meant to be a criticism just a fact. Of course it is nice to spend time just having a chat with whoever, even at the bus stop. . I am not always feeling like I was. I have found that when I am stressing like that I usually find I start clenching my teeth.

Anyway have had a good day today. Just having a last coffee then off to bed.

Yes it's lovely but rare when u really connect with people isn't it - is Debbie a similar age to u and single?

Planking update - don't worry I won't be doing this all the time - just thought I'd share this story cos it made me smile.

Forgot to say that when my son was here I told him about our planking efforts - bear in mind he's 30 years younger than us and is slim, a passionate surfer & swimmer and cycles too.

so of course he cdn't wait to have a go and managed 2 minutes - he was shaky and wobbly too!! So he was v proud that he'd thrashed Mum and Dad's 20 second efforts!

Well this morning hubby (who's not usually competitive) almost did himself an injury doing 2 mins!!! So I thought I'd try to uphold the family's honour and did a whole minute and no medical attention required!!

Oh I always have a pile of shredded lettuce with my chilli, even if I 'am' having a small portion of rice with it, I expect cabbage is similar, quite a good substitute in my mind. I also love raw or lightly cooked Chinese Leaves, if you're familiar with that?

Just a query - not wanting to worry you as I doubt very much it would make any difference for today but are you supposed to have nuts on a Red Day on challenge. I seem to remember the only Hex B Kay said you could have was dried fruit??

My day started ok. Sorted couple of cards to post and decided to go to Tesco for a few bits. I was talking to one of the staff when I suddenly felt shaky, I was having a hypo. She offered to get me something. She went to canteen for some sugar. I ate some of that then felt much better. Bless her, she was stocking shelves but stayed with me till I felt better. She said I was very pale.
After that I went to get my bread and spotted Warburtons thins. `Try them` I thought.
When I got home I still felt a bit shaky and tired.
Mmmm then guess what? You got it I ate the thins with ham or banana and 2 coffees. Fell asleep on the sofa for 4.1/2 hrs. Looked at the pkt and though OMG. Checked the syns, which I know I knew, 6 each. 36syns. When I eat I eat.

B: was eggs bacon & beans 2 toast h/e. coffee through the day h/e

The thins with free filling.

When I woke I was hungry so since I have been awake I had Jelly with yogurt

Thins 36 syns. Jelly 1.1/2 syns. Don`t know how much sugar I had but enough.

Don`t remember at present how many syns for Fri & Sat but I will save some more during the rest of the week.
I would not normally eat like that after a hypo I think I just needed comfort. I got it from the thins.
Then while telling you this story I ate 3 plums.

Gonna have a coffee then go to bed. Should be there by 12. Still don`t know why I got this hypo tho`.#

Night Night xxxx

I don't know why you would have had the hypo Doreen. Is that the first you've had in a long time? Had you had plenty to drink? I know you often mention coffee but do you drink water or squash too? Coffee can be quite dehydrating which can compound any imbalance of sugar/chemicals in your blood.
I've never had any symptoms of diabetes but I know since doing the salad/soup challenges it really got me drinking a LOT more and I usually only have one coffee first thing, at least two litres of water or nas squash and a couple of green teas. That took a bit of getting used to and I thought my bladder wouldn't cope with it but I can honestly say a few months later I don't particularly go to the loo more often, especially at night but when I do I pass a LOT more urine. It really has made a difference, in the past I suffered dry skin, itchy skin and could be prone to kidney infections but my skin looks and feels a lot better now and several people have noticed.
Anyway, sorry, that doesn't really help you, other than I firmly believe most of us don't drink anywhere near enough on a day to day basis.
I'd see how you feel today and if you get any more symptoms book an appt with GP or diabetes clinic.
As for the syns, maybe try and cut back a little but don't go without completely or you'll feel deprived and that can lead to another binge.
Hugs to you, my love, as these things are worrying. Don't feel guilty about the Thins, just write it off and move on. Xx

That was a nasty thing to happen esp as u were in the supermarket - what a kind lady to help in that way. Hope u wake up feeling better if not perhaps you'll make an appt at ur surgery - do u have diabetic nurse?

I'm one of those people Cloudy mentions - I 'm not good at drinking but the soup challenge Has changed me too - I checked the NHS website and they recommend drinking 1.6 litres of water inc coffee & tea so nearly 3 pints in old money!

I've never been a big coffee or tea drinker but when I'm dieting a coffee fills me up somehow (much more than tea - do ur find that?)

I'll look out for ur next post and hope it'll say ur feeling better. Xx:)

Doreen - don't know why but I was thinking of LJ22 and her daughter CJ just now wonder how they're doing? Then thoughts turned to Mo - hope all is well with her too.

I'll be checking on u thro the day Doreen - hope ur feeling better?

Coo-ee Doreen - hope ur having a good day? Xx

Hiya. Feeling good today. Went to bed at 2am got up at 9am. So pretty good sleep. Had breakfast at 11am and have just had a couple of plums to keep sugar up.

I am not sure why I got hypo but you can have the same breakfast 2 days running, one day ok the other a hypo. Don`t happen that often. I think yesterday was down to the fact that I had not eaten before I went out. When I walked through the car park and round the store that little bit of exercise caused sugar to drop. Should have eaten before I went out but was trying to delay eating so I did not eat so much. That didn`t work yesterday  Also didn`t take handbag into store, had some sugar sachets in it.

I like a coffee because it helps the fact of putting something in your mouth that water & squash don`t do. Diabetic nurse says as long as it is liquid it is ok.

We don`t mention hypos officially to diabetic nurse because `somebody` is looking into hypos with regard to driving. I know if one is about to happen so if driving I pull over.

Thanks for your concern.

Mmm, yes I wonder about LJ & CJ too. They were doing an allotment weren`t they if my memory is working.

Off to cafe now for a T and read of kindle. Gonna drive as it is pouring with rain.

Food later ladies. \enjoy rest of this day even if weather is bad. xxxxx

Changed my mind about going out, it is so cold and wet. Decided to sort out my sewing stuff. It gets a bit messy at times.
Reckon it is lunch time too, don`t want a repeat of yesterday

Sorry to hear about the hypo yesterday, Doreen but so glad you're feeling better today and that you slept well too. Good job that lovely lady was on hand and looked after you so well. Don't blame you for not going out today! It's dreadful here too. Just been in the garden to call my two rabbits in and was soaked within about two minutes! Horrible how it's going dark so much earlier too, isn't it?

Anyway, lots of hugs coming your way and take care.

Kathy xx
