NEW Kays Salad Challenge - APRIL to SEPT

Hi Kay :)
I am thinking about joining in on the last week of the salad challenge- I could do with a little boost!
My only confusion- sorry if this has already been asked/made clear elsewhere- but what happens with HExB's? I gather no carbs on the red days with meals and limited on green/ee, but does that mean you should use your hexb for something else e.g Olive Oil or cooked fruit/nuts and syn it if you want a slice of bread or something?
Also, what about parsnips/peas/beans?! Do they have to be small quantities too?
Other than the above I think I've got it!
Any help gratefully received :) xx
 
It's a real shame Sue won't have internet access next week as I know she'd do it. Hopefully some others will join us, maybe Von will decide she really wants some more yummy salads before the cooler weather sets in. x

Hey hun, I have pm'd Sue, I am hoping she will join, just that she wont be updating as regular as us because of her internet connection. I hope she can still work it out. As far as my Sis goes, yes indeed I hope she will join us too :D Vonnieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee where are you hun ? xx

Yay ! Rosie :p so glad you'd like to join. In answer to your questions hun, on the Green/EE days you can have both your HEXA's and HEXB's. Your are allowed 10 syns and must exercise for a minimum of 30 mins on the GREEN/EE days. You must drink 2 litres of water a day. Your salad must be carb free but your other meals can contain carbs in them.

On the Red days there is no exercise. You still only get 10 syns. You must drink 2 litres of water a day. For healthy extras you can have all of your HEXA's but from the B-list you can only have dried fruit, all the other HEXB's must be syned if you wish to take them. The reason for this is, because this is a low carb challenge.

Also parsnips/peas/beans are absolutely fine.

That's a great help thank you! I have never done a red day, or eaten much salad to be honest, but it will be good to mix things up!
Is there a definition of salad? Ie does it need leaves/set amount of anything? I'm going to scour this thread now for inspiration :) shopping on Sunday! X

I'm shopping on Sunday too :D. Rosie its gonna be proper rabbit food for us hehe, think of your bunnies :p lots of the leafy green stuff. If you go through the thread there are loads of pics which people have uploaded of their yummy salads that will inspire you. Also to help, in the guidelines I have done a sample shopping list. There are more people joining now, so it will be fun doing the challenge together next week ! :p

Ill post on here and I'm sure the kind minis people will put me right if I go wrong! Will get on the laptop tomorrow and have a look at pics and your shopping list :p I'm not too bad with vegetables, just things like tomatoes and carrots I prefer roasted then cold. Hope this isn't cheating.

Yay ! :D you'll do smashing hun. What's great is a lot of the girls that have done this challenge before will be on here so you will get loads of help and support :). Warm veggie salad is absolutely fine hun, yummy that's making me hungry :p xx

Looking forward to the challenge - I really need to do something to help get rid of the whopping 15lb gain from my 4 week hols!! I've just read over the rules and recipes - so need to plan my meals, do the shopping then JUST DO IT!!

I can see u've been updating again so thx again for all ur hard work Kay - I like many others really appreciate it!! Xx

Hey Linda, :) its great to have you back on the challenge with us . I am in the exact same boat as yourself. I don't know if you've had a chance to read my diary but I had my cousins over for a few weeks and hadn't been to group for over a month and have gained over a stone :(. I got my 5.5 stone award when I left, I am now back at 4 stone :rolleyes:. Anyway onwards and downwards for all of us :). I wasn't able to update this thread as much whilst having my guests over, but I will be on here everyday next week, back to my usual self :p. I'm really looking forward to doing the challenge with you all. Hope we all lose lots and lots of pounds between us :D xx

Thx Kay - reckon the only positive thing about putting on weight is that when we go on a challenge (and stick to the rules of course!) we're bound to lose lots of weight - so looking forward to getting down to biz with u!!

hehe :giggle: I don't think the flying bunny kicks will work on Rosie, she owns 5 bunnies already, yes its true :D she will only get lots of hugs from me, I want to meet them one day lol xx
