Nikki don't stress about your feelings for your kids, my mum was exactly the same, my brother was a terror child. He needed hardly any sleep (still the same) and had a tendency to be very hyperactive, bordering on ADHD when he was little whereas I was the calm good child who slept right through and behaved.
I don't know how she coped with his tantrums and back answering and screaming fits. I do remember coming home from school a few times to find her sitting outside on the front porch with the music on and hearing him screaming and raging in his room. So you're not alone on that one.
My best friend regularly takes a cup of tea out into the garden while Little E or FT (depending on whose turn it is for a tantrum) gets on with their hussy fit. She's even dumped both of them at her mother in laws and come to mine just to get away from them.
I guess not having kids it's hard for me to comprehend but I'm sure how you're feeling is pretty normal.
