awe nikki was thinking of you last night. millie is getting what she needs and just you watch, she will be thriving and more settled by the time you get her home. just watch you don't burn yourself out. you have had hardly any sleep and running on adrenaline. try hard to rest while she is in hospital. i ended up with infection even though i never had one stitch as i was on the go constantly. huge hugs and thanks for updating. mummy knows best no matter what lol x x

Oh Nikki, so sorry to hear Millie has been taken into hospital, but like you say at least she's been looked after.... could it be the laxatives effecting your milk? I don't know how it works at all but just wondering if they're getting rid of everything before your having time to produce it... like you say if you have to move onto formula then there's nothing wrong with that, at least you tried and also formula fed babies are healthy and happy as well, I think formula these days is full of loads of goodness. I know someone who tried breastfeeding but her little one was allergic to her milk so she had to move onto formula, he's now a very healthy little 18 month old.

Thanks for the well wishes ladies. Millie is picking up and getting the fluids she needs. We are staying in again tonight because the breast feeding lady is helping me get a good supply going and is making me use an electric pump so they can feed millie directly with my milk. Feel so sorry for her just laying on the hospital bed, but she is in the right place and we are going to be home very soon xx

Are you using a medela pump? I've got a medela mini which I need to use for 5 mins each side after feeding cause I need to use a nipple shield the pump helps empty me and keep up a good supply. It's a bit of a pain but its what I need to do to keep Isobel gaining weight.
Poor Millie I'm sure she's gonna thrive now you've had some treatment and good advice re breastfeeding. It's so tricky for something that's meant to happen "naturally" . Xx

Yeh its a medala in hospital and i think ill buy one tomorrow for home. Its really frustrating that for a first time mum ive had no support for breast feeding at all. The hospital have been great though and have the most wonderful lady here helping. Xx

Well i tried and tried my hardest with breast feeding. I tried to pump but nothing was coming out. So after much deliberation we are on formula. I wanted to express but it seems that its so time consuming because they said i should be doing it every 4 hours and I just want to make sure she is feeding.
We came out of hospital yesterday and out of the 1.5lb she had lost she had already put back on 0.5lb so she is going great guns

good stuff..it was taking me while to express and then little one wd take hour to drink out bottle as he had problems sooking then it was time express again.
