Post Break Up Body

Morning - wonderful to be walking up to a still-existing Minimins site. Very thankful to the people keeping the lights on for us.

Got up for my official weekly weigh in today as I'll be away for a week. I'm down 4lb since last week's weigh in (1lb over the last 2 days). This puts me into healthy weight category, which should signal the end of fast 800, however I will check in on the scales next week before giving up entirely. I will be on a different diet for the next 9 days so will probably put on a little bit of weight.

I'm still in the fat-burning half of my month so my body should be trying to give me a hand, but it also means that I'm more hungry which isn't great when there will be temptation everywhere.

Separately, it should be a good week for exercise. I've got myself a temporary gym and swimming pass and picked up a bather for the local sports centre. And I'm sure we'll go out a couple of days walking or sightseeing (more walking).

Sounds like you've got a lovely week away. Great idea to get the temp gym and swimming pass.

I really need to make more use of our pool, but it's trying to find the time. It opens at 6am, but I leave for the bus by 6.30 if I'm in the office. So mornings are out, unless I'm working from home. I will try and do more evenings, when I've not already got stuff on!

I can't believe you're thinking to add more exercise. Feels like you'd be tapped out.

I love the pool, and it won't hurt my feet which still have a lingering cut on the left heel. My dad will do 3 hours at the sports centre every day between running, weights and swimming. I need to get some good shows downloaded on my phone before I enter the gym - it's torture to me.

Well it's a middling start.

Fasted until around 4pm then had the corner of a slice of cake (50 cal) and a handful of coated peanuts (150 cal). I had 3 glasses of wine and a glass of g&t (550 cal) and the meal was cottage pie. I left 2/3 of the potato so I would guess 600 cal.

Total 1350

Day 2

A day of charity and antique shop shopping. Stopped in at a cafe for lunch and had a grain salad (400 cal). Back at the house, handful of japanese rice crackers (100 cal). Cherry Bakewell cocktail (250 cal). Salmon fillet with vegetables (300 cal). Cake (400 cal).

Total 1450

Day 3

Fasted until 3pm. Then a slice of cake (200 cal) and a mezze of olives meat and nuts (450 cal) plus 2 glasses of wine (250 cal) plus prawn curry and cauliflower rice (300 cal), a glass of gin and tonic (100 cal), one Lindt ball (80 cal).

Total 1400

Day 4

Went for an 8 mile walk around the village.

Fasted until 3pm then had a piece of cake (200 cal) and a g&t (100 cal). Then 2 glasses of prosecco (200 cal) and Easter dinner of lamb gravy and vegetables (600 cal). Then got guilted into a whopping 650 cal dessert. Quietly raging about it, but sometimes it's just impossible to respectfully decline. Feeling sick from all the sugar at the moment.

Total 1750

Day 5

Fasted until 4pm. Then slice of cake (200 cal) and glass of red wine (150 cal). Dinner was a fast 800 recipe for mozzarella chicken with bacon and swede mash (600 cal). One Lindt ball (80 cal) and handful of nuts (150 cal)

Total 1200

Haven't eaten yet today, but did 3 hours at the gym this morning with my dad. Did a 2km swim (500 cal) 3 mile run (400 cal) plus 1 hour of weights.

I'm not usually a gym person so I was all at sea with the weights and got dad to set everything for me.

From the running perspective, I was pleased to run the entire 3 miles at 6mph. I do enjoy running but haven't been working at it for the last 18 months. It's something I want to return to soon, so I'm happy to have a good baseline.

Swimming I always enjoy. Comfortable middle lane lengths. It's a good pace that allows you to push yourself when you need to overtake, but otherwise keep a steady 40 second length

We'll go back for the next two days and do a similar set. Let's see how my muscles handle it tomorrow.

Just about to head out to repeat the 8 mile walk from Sunday. That's another 600 calories. Then an afternoon watching Ronnie O'Sullivan and a big green table.

Day 6

Fasted until 3pm then had a slice of cake (200 cal). Went for 2 cocktails in town (400 cal) and a small plate of Korean chicken wings (600 cal). Then dinner of lamb lettuce tacos (400 cal)

Total 1600

Weighed myself at the gym this morning and, as expected, I've put of a few pounds of water weight. I expect that this will still be evident when I weigh in on Saturday, so I'll have another week of fast800 when I get back home.

Just finished at the gym. Repeated the swim (500 cal) and weights but did 30 min on cross trainer instead of treadmill so only 270 cal for that. No walk today

I have always had a weak left knee and noticing that it is a little sore today. Will be from the breast stroke motion. Only one more day of exercise before I head back home on Friday

Sounds like you've had a great week, though. And sometimes life does these things - as you say, it's water weight, and you know it'll be off in no time.

Day 7

Fasted until 12pm then reheated some prawn curry and cauliflower rice for lunch (300 cal). Had a slice of cake (200 cal) and a handful of nuts (150 cal). For dinner having leftover chicken with bacon and veggies (450 cal) and a glass of wine (150 cal). Lindt ball to finish off (80 cal)

Total 1350

I found some cauliflower rice I'd forgotten about in the freezer the other day - reminds me I was planning to make a curry at some point!

Last day at the gym. Repeated exercise from the first day. Lots of pacey swimmers in the medium lane, which was great motivation to push. Slowed the run slightly to a 9kmph pace which meant 3 miles took 32 mins. It took at least a mile for my thighs to get over the built up soreness and run comfortably. Another 900 calories burned.

All in all a lovely few days of exercise. I'm still not likely to be picking up a gym membership, but it was good for a change of pace.

Heading to a Miller and Carter for lunch later for the last day of my stay.

Day 8

Fasted until 3pm. Had a 3 course dinner of butternut squash soup (250 cal), pork ribs and coleslaw (750 cal) and crème brulée (300 cal) plus a glass of prosecco (100 cal). Later had a slice of cake (150 cal)

Total 1550

Back home! Hilariously, after all of that exercise, I pulled a thigh muscle walking up the stairs to my room. Probably my fault for suggesting that I might go do Park Run in the morning.

Food today has been bad.
Goats cheese salad at Bicester village (480 cal), a handful of Ritz crackers (150 cal), half a pizza (370 cal), plus lots of wine (500 cal).

Total 1500 cal

Weigh in this morning, which I was dreading as it was obvious I would be up a few pounds. Lots of carbs over the week, and the intense gym work will have led to water retentions for my sore muscles.

Result is up 3lbs which is a little better than I was expecting.

As I'm back at home, I'll do one more week of fast800 to cut the carbs back down. Hopefully we're back square this time next week.

As for my next adventure, I've turned my head to walking the Camino de Santiago sometime soon. All this unemployment is getting very boring, so need a cheap break. I've ordered the guidebook and I've been reading the forums. It's about €30 per day for hostels, food and drink so will think about getting the train to the start line next week.
