Hi Ladies,

Having a bit of a "splurge" on the Babycentre website and thought these links might come in handy if anyone isn't sure (like me!)

(Whilst TTC, I always researched lots about pregnancy - so I know loads about that, I just haven't got past the giving birth bit yet and am a bit clueless!) ;)

Girls, I've a bump question! Are you bumps still quite soft or have they gone hard yet? Mine is slightly firmer at the top under my boobs but when I'm naked I just look like I've got a flabby belly. When should it harden up? X

Mine is quite hard at the bottom (belly button and downwards) but when I sit down etc it just looks like a flabby belly. I don't think you'd ever know I was pregnant if I sat bolt upright because it just looks like a roll lol (to me it does anyway) I'm a little earlier than you though, so the top bit of my bump probably won't be too hard yet because my uterus is only an inch or so above my belly button x

I'm not sure when it should harden...I was always under the impression it depends on how much tummy fat we have...obviously the more stretched the skin is, the harder the bump would feel I imagine? I can't see mine being completely hard for a few more weeks. xx

Unless i'm standing mine just looks like a flabby belly.. And like yours.. When i'm standing the top (under my boobs) is firmER then my belly, which is still just flab but still not quite hard as such.. As Jess said i'm quite a few weeks behind you too tho..
Ooh Sarah I think you're having a girl :D :D :D

Agree with the above....my tummy (top and bottom) is quite firm when im standing up but when i sit down it does just look like roll(s) of flab lol *sigh*

Does anyone else find themselves holding their tummy in when they're standing chatting to people???
I just noticed I pull my tummy in as much as I can when I'm standing chatting to people in the office.. Dunno if I do it at home or not..

I wish I could! My tummy doesn't move if I try holding it in now. Those days are long gone for me and my whopper of a belly lol :D xx

In all seriousness, sometimes (and I hate saying this because I love being preggie) but I wish I could hold it in just purely because then all the stupid comments will stop!! xx

I think I popped out at about 14/15 weeks, and was very noticeable by about 17. That said though hun, I have quite a big bump I think :) I'm all out front xx

It should pop soon hun x give it another 2 weeks or so and I bet you'll see a difference. A good way to tell is by taking pictures. :)

At 15 weeks you could see a bump with me, 16 weeks it disappeared completely, 17 weeks it was back, and my 18 week bump is definitely very obvious! My 20/21 week bump is huge lol Haven't taken one for a couple of weeks now tho x You'll find over the next few weeks it might go up and down, but from 16 weeks onwards you could see something more permanent :) x

For me it was quite late... Prob only in the last 2 r 3 weeks maybe... Still can look just like I ate all the pies some days tho but this last week especially people in work have started saying "OMG you're bump is just appearing from nowhere" So 22 weeks I guess..

Yeah I think all of us are very different, so Sammie - try not to stress over it. Your bump will come when it's ready. Could be an early shower, or could be late - either way it doesn't mean there's any problems etc. Can all just be to do with how your baby is laying in your uterus etc xx

If you saw all of our bumps at say, week 20 - I guarantee they'd all be very different. xx

Ahh I guess I just have to wait it out lol I'm so impatient xx

Re: Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: Brands, Feeding, Nursery, Bathing, Everything!

Definitely agree for ages mine was still all bloat and felt huge (in a fat way not a pregnant way!) But in the last couple of weeks 20-21 ive noticed a more definite bump that makes me look pregnant. I think mine is also dependent on where baby is as mine tends to enjoy sitting low and I can tell where it is because my bump looks more like fat than baby but when high it's more pregnant shaped! Soon enough we'll all be undeniably pregnant xx

Ooh team pink!! I've kinda convinced myself that it's a boy now but I have NO IDEA why! Ah well, I don't mind either way.
I started to look pregnant earlyish on but only when I was wearing over the bump maternity clothes. Because my lower tummy is still quite soft if I don't wear maternity clothes I just look fat!! ;)

Hope you don't mind me joining in ladies! This is an awesome idea for a thread :) x

In answer to the bump question, I had nothing at all until about 18 weeks when the top bit started to go really hard. I'm 31+4 now and the top of my bump is huge but the bottom is still smaller which is kinda weird although it has filled out a bit. I lost nearly 6 stone before falling pregnant so I do have a lot of fat and loose skin which hangs out at the bottom and makes my bump look rubbish in certain clothes :( It's all about dressing the bump right! Over bump jeans def work best for me too and maternity leggings pulled right up are a good fix too. I now have a spd support belt to wear though which lifts the whole thing and makes me look about 20 months pregnant lol ;)

Yay Missy, you came to join us!! So pleased you did xx
