Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Hi I am just joining this thread if that's ok. I'm pregnant but early days for me. 5 wk and 3 days and. Counting lol! It's going so so slow. I have booked in for a private scan at 8 wk's to break it up n just to check everything's going as it should. It's lovely hearing all u girlies talk about ur pregnancies, I can't wait till I'm further along n have a little bump :) xx

Congratulations!! X

Thanks girls. Were u all as nervous as I am at this stage? I'm wishing the days away xx

I've worried from day 1 of finding out, if anything it's gotten worse :-/ I'm with Frances on the knicker checking as well, it will all be worth it in the end!!

I was hoping for ms to make it seem more real but I've got to 17+4 with none! X

Just out of curiosity, as I'm pretty new on here with you lovely ladies, is this your first child? How long were you trying before it happened?

For me it's my first and we have been trying for nearly 7 years :) xx

I know the others have said this already but you're not alone hun, it's scary stuff! And it stays scary, just a different kind of scary. ;) It does get easier once you see baby though and you go through all the milestones to come. And scary as it is, it's lovely too. <3 A lot of us here struggled to conceive too so we do understand. We're all here if you ever need to talk it all through! xxx

Thank you, that's lovely. I really appreciate it. It's nice talking to people that have been through the same emotions. It's such a little miracle that I never thought would happen to me. I Don't want anyone to take it away from me xxx

Been with my current partner 4 yrs. been kinda trying from day one. ( thinking it wouldn't happen straight away anyway) . So I know ur heart ache of trying for so long! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a positive :-D xx x

When you've wanted a baby for so long it's that little bit more precious I think <3 I wasn't trying for anywhere near as long as you and Emma but long enough to know how much I wanted a baby and long enough that I was scared to death when I actually fell pregnant! It makes it extra scary but also extra special too xxx

I forgot about the ex lol Including him I've been trying 10 years eek! We had actually decided in May that we weren't going to try anymore as it wasn't going to happen 3 months later I got my BFP!! I would randomly take pregnancy tests when I was more than 2 weeks late according to my period checker (there all over the shop) I remember thinking oh might as well do one, not thinking id weed on it properly and I put it back in the box and going to bed, as I'd come of a night shift, imagine my surprise when 5 hours later I got up, pulled it out the box and there was 2 lines!! 52 pregnancy tests later, 4 scans and 2 heartbeat checks at the midwifes and I still can't believe it lol

It feels like a lifetime of trying after that long doesn't it! They do say if u just forget about it that it will happen, although it was never far from my mind! I also keep doing test, I like to see the line getting darker then I know the pregnancy is progressing :) I've done 6 up to yet! lol congratulations to u too honey, I can't wait till I'm at ur stage xx

It does feel like a lifetime! I'm a strong believer in fate though and that things are sent to is when they are meant to be :)

Time flies you will be at my point before you know it, I'm still worried though probably more so now I know we are having a girl and we've named her and bonded with her, But then I'm a natural worrier anyway and she's probably just fine in there laughing at her silly old mum for getting worked up again! X

In comparison it doesn't seem like we were trying long but we tried for just short of two years. I also tried with my ex husband for a couple of years so about 4 years in total. I've got PCOS & endo so rarely have periods (twice in two years!) and after a lap & dye and finding out I needed another op to remove the endo we pretty much stopped dtd. And I fell pregnant :) it's our first baby too xx

We were all talking about this the other day - how it often happens when you least expect it!

We were only trying for just under two years, so nothing compared to you guys, but it was long enough that we knew how much we wanted it. After fertility testing we were told that husband had a very low sperm count (4 mil, low end of normal is 15 mil) and that it was possible that I wasn't ovulating (they never did get round to investigating me so still no idea regarding that!). I was told to lose more weight to get my BMI under 30 so that we could get on the IVF waiting list. We gave up trying at that point tbh, I threw myself into SW and three months later (BMI 33) I was pregnant, to our complete shock! Husband didn't believe it even after I waved a positive test in his face and wouldn't until he heard it from a doctor, bless him! It was and is still the biggest and best shock of my life that I'm actually pregnant and I still have to pinch myself every time I see him or hear his heartbeat <3

He'll be our first baby and I'm a very lucky lady xxx

Hi hun. Yup. Our first baby. Apparently we're having 3! I was told last night!!! Lol
3.5 years of trying. All the tests done n all were clear. So there was "no medical reason" for our "unexplained infertility" which was just awful. At least if there was a problem we cud work on fixing it. But there was nothing. After a breakdown in the gyneas office she offered me Clomid. Unsure of what wud happen coz I ovulated normally. Regular 28 day cycle. But thankfully it worked on round 2 :)

I'm super lucky and had only been trying properly for one month. The previous month I was off the pill but we weren't really thinking about timings. I know u am super lucky and don't ever forget that, especially when I hear of all the struggles people have had xxxx

Not as in triplets. As in 2 more after this.... Just in case I confused anyone lol

I was wondering for a moment there lol! ;)

I'm pretty sure this is it for us. I'm 35 now so I'd prob be about 37/38 by the time we wanted another and not sure I could cope with this again at nearly 40! xxx

Ill b 32 next month... So I think 1 more will b realistic. If that's twins... Great. J will get what he wants but otherwise I wouldn't bank on number 3 lol

Arghhh. This month! Sh1t

32 is a great age, I loved being 32. It's the right end of your 30's anyway. I'm still distraught that I slip into the wrong side next year! :( :(
