Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Id love another one but we will see. I'm 31, Paul is 36 and we would want to move to a bigger house before having another one so really depends on how quickly we can save money. You never know whether I'd fall pregnant easily too and don't think id want to be having a baby at the age of 40. Who knows...

That's the other thing - if we were ready to try again at 37, who knows how long it would take! I think we're pretty much ok with this little dude being an only, I come from a long line of onlies so it doesn't both me. Whereas Colin has an older brother and I think he'd like our dude to be a big brother one day...

There's 5 in my family n 4 in J's.
I've always said I'd never just have one. They need a playmate... But then I never thought I'd only b starting a family now!!
(Sounds hypocritical saying that when I've been open in saying 5 years ago I never wanted kids....)

It's great to read about everyone, it doesn't matter how long we've been trying really I was just curious, they are special little miracles no matter what, although according to my scan woman at the gynae assessment unit people are just popping them out like no ones business, she was a little rude though and said she barely saw any British mums they are all polish and African eek I'm quite sure she shouldn't have said that, she did have a point though when I was waiting for my consultant appointment out I the 10 or so couples waiting 2 were speaking English!! Anyway I digress!

What names have you thought off? I'm sure this has been covered I'm just too lazy to read back more than 20 pages lol xx

That's half the reason I've chosen a hospital further away than my local one. I kno it's awful n I'm 100% not a racist (although I kno I sound like one) but its like an African hospital in the local one. It's about 10 mins in a car from me. The one I've gone too is in city centre n about 20 mins drive. Obv has more than just Irish but not to the extent...
I'm having an awful time with choosing a name. N all our focus was on boys names.... But we've since been told we're having a girl.... Lucy has always been my chosen name for a girl but not sure it sounds right with his surname (Lee)
He'sleays said it sounds like a pornstar... But now he's thinking yea it's nice... But pornstar keeps ringing in my ears.... So I really don't know

Lucy Lee is pretty what about putting in a middle name to break it up a bit so it sounds less pornstar to you when you say the whole name? We are having Eva-Rosanna, Rosanna was Pete's mum middle name she died 10 years ago next year do its a nice tribute to her xx

It does not sound like a porn star! ;) I'm glad he's coming round to it though xxx

We were the other way round, we had loads of girls names and were struggling with boys names! So had to think fast when we found out he was a he...

For a girl we would have had Lola Rose, Roisin or Amelie. But hopefully this little dude, if he comes out looking like one, will be called Seth Rowan. If that doesn't suit him, we have Caleb, Ellis and Anders (and Rowan as a first name I guess) on the backburner. ;) We've not told anyone in real life though - only minis people know! xxx

Lucy is after my sister. Mams first baby who she sadly lost due to SIDS at 4.5 months old :( She was Lucia... So we're trying that too.. I think her birth cert name will b Lucia (if we go with that) but we'll call her Lucy... Maybe..
I don't like middle names n it wouldn't b used so not much point.
Now we're thinking of our little girl I don't think porn star but coz he said it for so long it's always in the back of my head...

We have lotsa time so trying not to freak out yet lol

Have set ur name or still looking? It's a beautiful name...

Aw, that's a lovely name and a lovely tribute to his mum too. You pronouncing it Eeva or Ava? Have heard it said both ways, either would sound fab with the middle name though xxx

We are set in stone on that name just hope that's what she looks like, we have a back up of Elizabeth Rose just in case..

Lucia is nice as well, my eldest niece is Luciana (Lou-Chi-arna)

Eeva xx

That'll sound lovely - I hope she comes out looking like one for you! So is Elizabeth though if you end up going for that. It is my middle name though so am biased ;) xxx

I want two babies but I'm 32 now and Tom doesn't want to go through the crap I've had this pregnancy for another few years. So we'll probably try when I'm 35 ish but if nothing's happened by 38 we'll stop. We're calling ours Cole William if it's a boy - Cole is my granny's maiden name and William is Tom's dad's middle name and both our mums maiden names are Williams. If it's a girl it'll be Eira Rae - Eira (Ey-ra) is Welsh and so is Tom and Rae is after my dad (who's Ray). We really wanted personal names that mean something to us. I'm Sarah Louise and so are millions of other 30 something's so want our baby to be slightly different but not too out there xx

I can definitely identify with that, as one of a million 30-something Sarah Elizabeth's!

We definitely wanted a more unusual name for the boy for that reason xxx

Our parents were clearly original ;) xx

New question. Well, more a general consensus kind of thing....

When are you all putting your babies in their own rooms? I was thinking about July time which will be 6 months so it's used to it by the time I go back to work and me and Tom get our time together.

I think six months is the recommendation? So I'll be aiming for six months too. Although I do know people who have kept baby with them for longer and been more than happy with that. I think you would definitely need your adult time back by that point though!

As soon as she is too big for her Moses basket we only live in a tiny bungalow so there won't be any room for a cot in our room :( she will literally be 10 steps away in her room though so not to far away from us xx

Yeah that's why we're thinking July. I used to have a friend who didn't put her baby in their own room and he was still sleeping with them at 9 years old!! No way!!

We've got numerous beds for bubs. We've got a Moses for downstairs, a crib for our bedroom and a cot for the nursery. Don't know where we're gonna put them all once bubs has grown out of them haha xx

My cousin still has her three year old in with her. I'd go mental!
