Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Ha ha... But don't forget.. baby stuff is TINY and bed clothes are thin n light so don't take up much room.. and you only need a night r two... Just have a second bag packed n left in the boot of the car for the BF/OH's to bring in if needed for a longer stay

This is my problem - we don't drive so I'm probably taking slightly more than you ladies who have cars. To be fair half my suitcase is currently taken up by my massive fluffy dressing gown which is not going to be coming with me now so getting rid of that should enable me to squish it down into a changing bag plus one big bag/mini suitcase. At least that's the plan ;)

I didn't bother to take painkillers in with me (though stocked up with easy to take paracetamol for early labour at home) with the thought process that regular prescriptions are usually given on time (heaven help anyone disturbing the drug round!) so if I needed quick access to anything on top of that it wouldn't be the mild things you can buy but the prescription only strong stuff. I also took a suitcase with no shame (with 4 separate bags within it - for labour, for baby, for me after & for DH) - you'll hopefully be leaving with a precious baby... so ease of hands/wheels rather than being a pack horse/bag lady is better! & as it happens the spares were handy as we all ended up staying in for a few days.

That's a very good point re: carting bags around! Plus we'll be having to manhandle all the stuff into a taxi plus belt a car seat in so I'm all for quick and easy. I'm thinking mum's mini suitcase is sounding like the perfect solution right now :D

I'm going to pack our changing bag with extra stuff for baby and pack a separate bag for me, I'm only 23 + 3 and have started already lol got my list ready too :)

Cai mentioned taking some fruitella sweets or something along those lines as apparently that was all she was allowed to eat at one point! So multipack of sweets going on my list. I need bras most of all. Nursing bras are mega dear but I need something... It is stressful, the last thing you want is to forget anything! And as much as I love him I can't rely on Colin as he has a shockingly bad memory and if I asked him to bring something he would probably forget... :/

Def some fruit sweets - as soon as I had the epidural I wasn't aloud to eat....that was 12 hours into my labour and I'd not eaten in that time as it was trough the night and I was prodded and poked so found myself not having eaten for over 12 hours with 8 hours of labouring to go ( obviously do don't know it was 8 hours at the time)

I also took pink lemonade lucozade for energy which they did let me have but try preferred the still one (is that the sport??)

When I was in hospital for the second time hubby had to go pack me and baby a bag - he forgot to bring me any maternity pads!! Lol. And he brought mis matching PJs (it was the end of the world) but one of the tops he brought me was def a pre pregnancy top and I looked funny in it!!

I would recommend slip on slippers as the last thing u need it to be bending down to pull on proper slippers every time u wanna move! And my feet were so swollen I had to go home in my slippers!! :) xx

Advice please - I've not put any pics of Stevie on Facebook and that's only cos I know someone children at work can randomly access pics and I didn't want that.
Now one of my work friends who visited yesterday has put some pics on!! She tagged me in 2 of them (put 5 on) and although I didn't mention to them not to I feel upset. I sent et a text and she just said all her privacy settings are high and she has never had a prob with the kids we work with. So I feel like I've lost :-( should I un-tag myself or just forget about it??

After all I do post pics on here but .....arrrggghhh :-( a little upset to say the least x

He is your child, if she won't remove them report her to Facebook and she will have to take them off, if you don't want pictures of him on Facebook that is up to you xx

He's your son, if you're not happy she needs to respect that and take the pictures down. You can set photos so only specific people can see them but I'd only trust that if I was doing it myself - I certainly wouldn't take someone's word for it as not everyone is good with technology and the Facebook settings can be fiddly!

Can see why you're annoyed though - pretty sure I would be too in your place xxx

How is everyone today?

I'm super tired even after having 8 hours sleep last night (best nights sleep in 3 months!) x

If I didnt want pictures of my child on facebook and then someone put some on without even asking me I would go batty at them!

But yeah...if you dont want them on there just text and ask her to take them down for sure. I would NEVER put pictures of any of my friends/colleagues children without asking...thats awful

8 hours sleep?!!!! You're lucky....... lol!! :p I barely get any sleep these days. I've just been out with hubby today to buy a new (expensive) mattress to try and rectify that though hehe

Has anyone suffered with cramp? The last 2 nights I've been woken up in the night with cramp in my leg calf. Really hurts and then the next day it is much tighter. Anything I can do to prevent it or is it just one of those things?!

Banana n milk before bed... Our poor Sarah has had them...

I've had about 3 hours in 6 days so I think that was well needed! Hope your new mattress works! X
