Pregnancy and Slimming World

Well having said that I got a call straight back from another doctor who was absolutely lovely and said that I should go to the scan and she thinks they'll let me look at baby too! I'll be 8 weeks by the time of the appt so they should be able to tell me if all is well or not. I feel massively relieved, I really do! x

Aw that's great. I'm so chuffed for you x

I have. It's tightening sometimes even feels like it makes you breathless! It shouldn't be all that painful x

Owwww! No it's not painful just a little tightening! I've been putting down to her moving about but it's definitely tightening! I'm just aware of it but its not uncomfortable or painful so that's ok!
You only have weeks left so Im guessing that's why your feeling them more and more intense! X

I was unfortunate enough to have them with Imogen as well I think from 25 weeks?? This time been 30 weeks plus but it's not pleasant apparently lots of things feel worse with your second baby according to my midwife lol. I think she's trying to put me off further kids lol x

Thanks for the reassurance ladies - it does help! We've worked so hard for this baby and I just want everything to go well. I've got a couple of friends IRL whose first pregnancies ended in miscarriage and it scares me to death :/ It's difficult with husband too, he's so nervous and doesn't want to get his hopes up either so he is kinda detaching himself from it all which doesn't help.

Something odd happened today though - I remembered that I was booked for a tv ultrasound on 3rd May, was referred just before Easter as I was having random pains and was worried that it was something that would affect TTC (obv it wasn't!). So I called the hospital thinking that they'd tell me I couldn't go now but they still want to see me if my GP agrees, just waiting for an answer from the GP. I know it won't be a proper early pregnancy scan as it's for something else entirely but do you reckon they'd take a look and put my mind at rest a bit? When I told husband he sounded so relieved - he's just as scared as me I think bless him.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today - for my part I'm horribly uncomfortable at work with back ache and cramps and although I've not been sick yet I'm definitely getting a bit reflux-y! All good signs hopefully :) xxx

I had to go in for a scan at the start of my pregnancy and didnt know i was pregnant, it was a scan to check my ovaries and things because of abnormal bleeding. As soon as the lady doing the scan saw baby she got me ready by saying how would you feel about being pregnant and i was just shocked as i had been bleeding for over 3 weeks! As soon as i got over the shock she showed me baby on screen and took rough measurements and checked heartbeat and told me to make a booking appointment with midwife and that i will get my 12 week scan letter in the post so they should have a look and plus have a look elsewhere as they still checked my ovaries even though they could only see the left one! x

Haha yeah mine keeps trying to put me off having more or I think she is!!! With her scarf tactics ha! I started with them about a week ago so same time as you with Imogen! I'm going into my 27week in a few days! Up until now I've sailed through it with off complaint but I know now its going to get tougher!!! But it's all good onwards and outwards haha x

Wow, that must have been such a shock! Were you TTC or was it a total surprise? What a lovely outcome though, the bleeding must have been so worrying. How far along were you when you found out?

They want to look at my ovaries and also a couple things to do with IBS but I couldn't give a toss about those things any more, I just want to see baby and know that they're ok. xxx

Thanks hun, trying to relax! I only plan on being pregnant once so I really want to enjoy it but I'm so nervous! The further I get the more I'll calm down hopefully.

I hope it all works out the way u want it 2 wif the scan. I can understand how yer feelin tho cos my pregnancy is also long-awaited! lol! My prob is that I just don't ave periods 4 no apparent medical reason, after a miriad of tests, probin sessions n a round of Clomid my consultant said I'd ave no option but 2 go on the waitin list 4 IVF. I was really strugglin wif the idea of IVF as a friend had an extremely tuff n stressful time on IVF n never had any sucess. Then suddenly my boobs started 2 ache n seemed 2 ave gotten bigger over nite so I did a test n nearly collapsed when it showed up positive. After that I went straight out 2 get more tests n did 5 in total! lol! Anyway the upshot is I'm now almost 24wks along n I'v been really lucky so far as I'v had virtually no sickness, just felt a bit queasy 4 a few hours in the evenin 4 about a week, n no aches or pains or anythin. I'm just hopin the rest of my pregnancy n labour goes as smoothly! :) This is also gona b my only pregnancy, I'm gettin 2 old 4 this as I'l b 35 this month! I agree wif Fiona that once u see yer scan u'l calm down alot as it's SOO reassuring xx

It was a total surprise as i was hoping to be at target by july/august and than after that we were going to decide when to ttc. It took me over a year to get pregnant with my son and i only got pregnant when i gave up. After having my son i saw the clearblue ovulation monitor on sale and brought that for next time as me and my husband want a big family and its a year later its still unopened. Aswell as losing a lot of weight i was on multi vits and vit d for backache so i think they must have made me extra healthy and fertile. The bleeding did freak me out and as i was so worried the gp referred me for a scan as when she checked me internally she just told me my womb was ectropian and so the bleeding was due to that and she also told me she didnt think i was pregnant! The bleeding was most likely caused by my placenta being low so have a scan to see thats moved up in may and most likely it is up as had no bleeding for a while and no painful twinges down there.
If they want to look at your ovaries and things to do with your ibs than your gp should agree to the scan and the person doing the scan will also look at baby to check for heartbeat and a rough age as they have to put that on the report along with other things that they can view like your ovaries. At my scan i was 10 weeks x

Aw, what an amazing story! So pleased that it worked out for you, sounds like we both had the shock of our lives haha! I'm up to test no 6 now! Seems to happen to quite a lot of women when waiting for IVF - I always went naaah it'll never happen to me but then out of the blue it did! Dunno what it is but I know that we weren't really trying at all after our hospital appointment, when we found out how bad husband's sperm count was there didn't seem to be much point. If nothing else I've learned that there's never no point or no hope! ;)

With the age thing I'm in the same boat, I'm 35 in September and we only ever wanted one baby anyway so if all goes well this'll be it.

You sound like you're doing so well, hopefully the rest of your pregnancy will go just as smoothly for you, you're over half way there! xxx

Those vitamins again - there's def something to them and losing as much weight as you have (well done on that too btw!) would have helped as I know in my case I def wasn't ovulating when I was heavier and being overweight can slow the whole thing up for a lot of women. GP has agreed to the scan now, spoke to a nicer GP who was actually useful and she said they should have a look at baby for me. So only two weeks to wait! I'm like a little ball of nervous energy lol ;) x

Thanks hun, I really hated the idea of IVF so much that I virtually turned it down, tellin the consultant that I'd need 2 discuss it wif my hubby b4 agreein 2 go on the waitin list so I'm glad we were lucky enuf not 2 ave 2 go down that road. We also only ever planned 2 ave 1 child so this is it 4 us 2.
Fab news bout yer scan hun!!! :) I hope the 2wks fly by 4 u xx

Gosh so many girls with fertility issues. T and I had reached the point of acceptance that we wouldn't have kids after 4 years of trying then boom along comes Imogen and it took a long time to fall pregnant again this time!! X

I know what you mean - we didn't want it either but didn't feel like we could say no with husband's issues. I was too heavy though so it was then the stress of getting the weight off too and I was so fed up and ready to give up on the whole thing when this happened! I just hope it sticks more than anything in the world and that we have good news at the scan xxx
