Bike ride. Thought about dropping down a group, but wanted to go out with a group at 0900. Stuck with my usual group of intermediates. If I felt rough I would just jump off the back of the group and go home. A gentle, flat ride would have been ideal, little did I know that we were heading out on some of the hardest climbs I have done to date! Don't tell mrs Quins. Out to Bredgar via Weirton Hill and Thurnham hill plus another ridiculous steep climb. At one stage I was only doing 4mph up hill, barley moving, any slower and I would have fallen off, that was faster that some of the group! Coffee stop was welcome on top of the North Downs, having crossed the pilgrims way. That wrong'un skull cap made me look like a pilgrim or a Russian astronaut. The run home was punctuated with punctures ( see what I did there?) 2 for the same bloke, how's your luck. First was a hawthorn, as big and strong as a nail, we struggled to get it out of the tyre, then 20 mins later he ran over a stone that pinged out from his wheel and gave an instant flat as we were hitting some good speed, we all saw it. I rode home from there on my own. 45 miles , shorter than usual but a tough one. I was pleased to have completed under the circumstances of taking anti bios. Will see how I feel by Monday.
