Bit of a feck-up today ended up having wine and a Chinese takeaway at the inlaws. I did avoid all the fried starters again and prawn crackers etc. Stuck to boiled rice and avoided the dishes in batter but I also had some wine. Worst thing is that next weekend I am having friends round for drinks and a takeaway again. So I expect the next two weeks to have a gain - crap! My syns this week will be kept at 5 or under accordingly.

You're so good all the time that dome wine and Chinese should be absolutely fine! I bet you'll still have an amazing loss this week! Hope things have calmed down a bit for you! Xx

I don't know if I will but it'll be of my own doing anyway. You are always good too - in fact better than me! The worst thing about it is that I have arranged this sleepover thing. We all do it every so often as we live away from each other and it's my turn and it always involves takeaway as we leave our kids behind (mine are going with their Dad to stay at his parent's house). Arrrrrrrgh I feel like I've sabotaged myself.

What kind of takeaway do you have? Chinese and Indian places have some pretty low-syn options... I think a lamb Rogan Josh is only 6.5 syns for 360g, Jalfrezi is 8.5 syns, chicken saag (my fave!) is 11 syns - rice is free and a poppadom is 4 syns.
If you're having Chinese, a chicken chow mein is only 7 syns, special fried rice is 9.5, chicken in black bean sauce is only 5!! 2 pieces of prawn sesame toast is 7 syns.
All your rice/noodles are free (if it's plain...)
(All syn values are on EE)
You should be able to have it without going over your syns too much, and, as your syns are usually really low, you should be absolutely fine!!
xx

Ok then so if we do Chinese at the weekend (not sure what we'll do) I'll have the chicken chowmein - thanks :D The I just have to worry about the vodka right - eek

Woohoo! Vodka! Bought a bottle on Saturday (although haven't opened it!) as it's low in syns. Also, the low alcohol Czech beer from sainsburys is only 1 syn for the whole 500ml bottle! And it ain't half bad xx

Well Sausage after thinking about it all I have contacted my friends and told them I am cooking. I am going to make something - probably a curry and they can have that or a takeaway. I will then only syn the vodka. I can kind of excuse 1 takeaway meal as it isn't regular, knowing I didn't eat the deep fried stuff but I can't quite make peace with myself doing it again the next weekend, especially when I know I'll be drinking. So that's done.

My friends were all very nice about it, one of them is also doing SW and I'm glad I made the decision. It was partly down to you too Sausage so thanks x

Any suggestions for recipes then people??? :D

Syns – 3
HexA – .Babybel Lights, 1 LC extra light
HexB - .Wholemeal Nimble, Alpen Lights.

Hmmm... Curries are one of the things I love cooking! I have a superb recipe for a traditional chickpea curry from my mum's friend (she's from Mumbai, so it's authentic!) I also have an awesome book by Anjum Anand (of Indian Food Made Easy TV fame). I can tell you tomorrow the curries and pass on any recipes you're interested in? PS. Did you get the email?
X

Hiya Red, just to let you know I gained 4lb which wasn't as bad as I'd anticipated!! I had estimated between 5 and 10lb so I'm winning!! And hopefully 4lb is the sort of number that is quickly reversed (I hope!!!) Love H X

Hi Red, just been looking back in my diary. I've hunted out the recipe for the curry I made for my friends. It is really yummy but it's quite a sweet curry. It's nice with turmeric rice and greek yogurt mixed with mint sauce.

Here is a post with a pic:

The onion bhaji recipe I use is on my blog here:

Onion Bhajis

However, I don't really make them like that anymore - I now don't use the chickpeas and I use sweet potato instead. If you can get it, the white flesh sweet potato works best on them.

Also if you really want to impress, I've made these flatbreads before and they are ACE. They are reeeeeeallly super easy to make too.

I haven't made them since on SW so don't know about syns etc. If you do syn them could you let me know?!! :)
