Cheers piX. I'm going to do my best anyway.

that's all we can do ( says the woman who fell off the wagon after craving thick slices of toast last night! )

Thanks guys!

It's definitely an incentive to come on here and get such nice words of encouragement. I'll deidicate my first stone lost to all of you!! Lol.

I just realised I forgot to put down my food diary for yesterday:

Breakfast
2 slices of wholemeal toast with Flora Light (Hex B and 2 Syns)
Mullerlight
Apple

Lunch
Jacket Potato
Tuna Mayo (3 Syns)
Cooked Chicken

Dinner
Chicken Korma from SW Curry Heaven book. (Not the best curry I've ever tasted and definitely not a Korma - not too bad though)
Rice

That's the first recipe we've tried from the Curry Heaven book and we probably won't do it again. It was a lot of effort for a very mediocre curry. It tasted far too strongly of cardamom and that's not one of my favourite flavours. Plenty more tasty looking recipes to try though.

Thanks guys!

Im almost at a stone myself now, so lets see if we can both get there for V day :D

good luck with those last 4lbs, you can do it!

i've been disappointed with a lot of the SW curry's - i find it better to get a normal recipe from bbc food etc and then modify the fats (e.g oils etc) to minimise syns. Maybe its just personal taste though as I had a SW curry night and my friends really liked the curries (or they lied very well! :D)

Sounds like a plan piX!! Every little piece of motivation helps.

I used to make curries using the jars of paste and they always turned out lovely. They were completely allowable on Scottish Slimmers and Weight Watchers. Unfortunately, they're very high on Syns here on SW because of the oil content I suppose. I figure that I have the whole Curry Heaven book to work my way through. There must be at least one which is tasty. I think the Korma I made would have been much better with less cardamom but like you said, it's just down to personal taste. I'll be sure to keep you posted when I have success with one! :D

Had another good day yesterday I think:

Breakfast
Toast, Mullerlight and Banana (Hex B and 2 Syns)

Lunch
Open omelette with ham, tomato and cheese (Hex A)

Dinner
SW Ham risotto with peas and sweetcorn (6 Syns for parmesan cheese - since I had already had my Hex A)

The risotto was a recipe from the SW website and it was absolutely lovely!! I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes that type of thing. We'll definitely be having it again. Even my 4 year old loved it and he's a really fussy eater.

I'm slowly working my way through a number of favourite recipes I've come across on the SW website. I have to say that most of them have been nice. Tonight I'm trying the chicken kiev.

using the paste isnt too bad syn wise if you're just using a tablespoon( or two ) in a whole batch of curry...4 portions maybe? Looking at some of the threads here it looks like it's between 2 and 3.5 syns a tbsp..so divided by portions makes it more than bearable. I'd rather use my syns on that and have something really tasty than use the same amount for a drink or a crisp snack. xx

by paste I mean the little jar you keep in the fridge when it's opened, not the larger jars of ready made up stuff - they would be high!

That's a fair point piX. Most of the Pataks jars you use a quarter of the jar so I suppose that may not be too bad after all. May be worth more investigation. I definitely seem to remember seeing them as high Syn but maybe I just dreamt it! It may have been right at the start of my diet when I was trying to avoid all Syns completely. Before I really 'got it'. X

Those are the pastes I use too. I never use the full jars of sauce. X

and definitely tastier! If you like risotto I make a mean red pepper one that's oven cooked ( none of that standing stirring! ) which i add bite to by using a few of the hot ones which come in jars. Again its a couple of syns for those but its soooo tasty. I can't bear bland food, or kbock your head off stuff either lol xx

That sounds like my kinda risotto piX! Like you, I'm not a fan of bland food. With me, curries can be hot but the main thing has to be flavour. I'm not in to heat for the sake of heat. I'd love your recipe for that risotto if you want to share?

I'm not sure if I'm going to regret this decision but I've just signed up for a weekly group session with a personal trainer who will be doing Caveman Training with us! There are numerous videos of versions of the training on YouTube and they all look a bit scary. It's basically an hour of intense circuit training but not using regular weights. Here's a link to the group I'm joining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYADiDM0-p8 :character00115: This is gonna be fun??? :D
