Sammies mummy and weight watching diary

Sure has ! Feel like a zombie today!
Does anyone know where you can get caffeine free tea from ? I'm a massive tea drinker and am struggling to resist my tea cravings .. I know I can drink 2 cups a day but I'm used to drinking more like 5 or 6 lol xx
Its fairly easy to get hun.. We can get it in all the super markets and even some convenience stores..
I'm the same with my coffee.. I need my coffee so I've a jar of decaf at home and at work...

Actually I think the vile ones were Tesco, not Sainsburys.

Pregnant with baby no1 and trying not to gain too much!

Little bit of a moan today ..
I rang the midwives yesterday and they said it might not be until im 10 or 11 weeks until I have my first appointment as there is a lot of women in my area that are pregnant and only one midwife .
I know its not there fault and I'm sure they're trying hard to accommodate everyone but I had hoped to get an appointment at 8 weeks - being pregnant for the first time I am very anxious and also have a lot of questions I would have like to have had answered regarding the first trimester .
Also when I rang my doctors today to get an appointment for a non pregnancy related problem the wait for an appointment was 9 days!
Can't help but feel annoyed !

I got mine at just over 6 weeks but only because I don't have periods so didn't know how far I was. Our docs usually do 8-10 weeks so they can give you the details of the hospital as we have to self book our scans. But 9 days to see a doctor? Jeeeez!!!

Yeh I think that's the same as me Sarah , they said I will have a first appointment sometime between 9-12 weeks where I will just discuss everything with the midwife and then I have to ring and book my 12 week scan with the hospital that I will be going to .
Oh and as for the doctors .. It really is a joke but my old practise was even worse sometimes the wait would be 2 weeks and the receptionists were so rude so I guess 9 days isn't so bad compared to that.. I'm just glad it's nothing urgent !

Ours don't even give face to face appointments 75% of the time. It's a 'waste of the doctors time' so they do telephone appointments. But then because the doctor has so many to get through they're rushing you off the phone. There's signs up saying please don't be rude to receptionists or we will refuse to treat you. But the receptionists are awful. I know they have a lot of crap to deal with but they're rude as soon as they answer the phone!!

Re: Pregnant with baby no1 and trying not to gain too much!

My first appointment was 10 weeks and then I had my scan at 13 weeks. My 16 week had to be pushed to 17 weeks as they are so busy. Its very annoying but try and relax the time will fly by! GP appointments are always a nightmare! My GP always make me call at 8.30 on the day and try to get an emergency appointment because they have hardly any pre bookable appointments and they are always booked so far in advance! Take a deep breath and try to relax and not very stressed they will make sure you are seen and in the meantime you can ask us any questions we might be able to help :)

I only saw the midwife last week at 11 weeks which seems to be normal now but 9 days for a doctors appointment is ridiculous I am lucky with my doctors they do on the day appointment where you ring at 9 for morning appointments and 4.30 for evening ones so by the sounds of it I am really lucky hope you get it all sorted x

Think they said mine would be between 8-10 weeks (I saw them at bang on 8 weeks), but I think that's because they have to send off all the information to the hospital and then the hospital books the 12 week scans. We don't get to book them ourselves! I think anytime between 8-12 weeks is probably normal for your booking appointment xxx

I can't believe the way your doc appointments work over there.. We just go to the surgery and wait.. When you're see you're seen.. You could be sitting there hours n hours.. But if you're lucky and get there early enough you can get in first or second...
My surgery is one of the few that does an evening surgery too for people who work and can't for whatever reason get to them in the morning.. Again, you just turn up and be seen when they get to you.. Its first come first served.. None of this appointments lark

Ah France's it's such a nightmare over here , you do have the option of ringing before 8.30 am to see if there has been any cancellations if your desperate but even then they will sometimes ask you to speak to the triage nurse first to decide whether you will be seen ! X

That's awful.. What happens if you need a prescription?? Our docs won't give out a prescription without seeing a person physcially.. Even a repeat sometimes!!! Do you have to wait days to see them before you can get it??

Tho ours may be handier in that you see them the morning you need to.. But you pay €50 for the pleasure PLUS whatever your prescription costs...

Yep you can't get a prescription until you have seen the doctor .
I think the cost of prescriptions are usually around seven pounds which is pretty good I guess .

On a completely unrelated note I am soooo hungry today! I literally cannot stop eating and its not even 12 o clock .. Ah help!

I just always cook chicken.. Have ventured on to cooking ribs the odd time but thought it was about time I tried something new... Apparently I just bung it in the oven in a roasting tray with some water/stock in the end... How hard can it be??? LOL

Pregnant with baby no1 and trying not to gain too much!

8 weeks today and 1.5lbs down from bfp weight woohoo :)

Also on Friday I got to see the midwife! Yay .. I kinda feel stupid now for my big rant but luckily she had a last minute appointment free so she managed to fit me in.

All went well .. The midwife said that I will be under consultant care because of my height ( being the short arse that I am lol ) is anyone else under consultant care ? Does this make much difference ?
Xx

Im not under consultant care but I do know that for women on consultant care in my hospital they're just very strict (no visitors at all etc etc)

Consultant care units just have doctors, midwives and anaesthetists all to hand etc and I think they monitor you more closely? May be worth writing down any questions that you have for when you next see the midwife. Thats what I do...write any questions I think of on my phone :D
