sarah's simply filling food diary

Thanks guys

Hi Sarah!

I did insanity last year, I just want to warn you about it. For the first 4 weeks I lost no weight. I was really annoyed. I looked online and loads of people didn't lose weight. It was somethig to do with muscles retaining water for protection. In this time I lost no weight I actually did drop a dress size. Then in the following 4 weeks I lost 12lbs. So almost a stone. I found the workouts very hard, it gets even harder the next 4 weeks too! But stick with it. If you can't cope with a movement then just keep moving and jogging on the spot. There was one thing I couldn't do even after the 60 days. It was jump down, 8 press ups, jump up 8 squats. Repeated really fast about 8 times. So I just did it at a slow pace.

So my suggestion is take measurements. Drink loads of water and go by inch loss not weight loss.

Wow well done on starting insanity! Is a heart rate watch necessary for it or just useful? As I think I have it on an old computer somewhere and might look it out if don't need any other equipment.

Tabata is meant to be rediculously effective and it has lots of breaks - 20 seconds exercise, 10 seconds rest then repeat 8 times. It's way more effective than 4 full minutes of the exercise would be for some reason that I can't remember lol! So having the rests sounds good :) x

Sounds like a really promising start with the Insanity. Well done. How do you feel now? I suspect its the sort of work out that definitely hurts the day after!

Laura - interesting about the effectiveness of Tabata because of all the breaks - its the same with walking; you are meant to burn more calories when "sight seeing" walking than really going for it. The theory is that it takes more effort for your body to get up to speed with an activity than it does to maintain that once its there.

Ooh that's good to know.. As starting a puppy walking on a lead includes allot of stopping and starting... lol

U need a heart rate monitor as u have to check ur heart rate every rest (3mins)

Sarah....stop comparing. I might be a page or so back but you mentioned you may have done worse than me on fit test. You dont know that, and it shouldn't cross your mind. Think about yoursefl and your own journey and where you have come in terms of exercise since you started in January.

I'm glad your enjoying it. Cardio recovery is a nice day off. It's full of stretches and toning and a break from cardio. It's good. I go full at it on the jumps etc and a break is wonderful. My thighs also ached in the first few days. Plus I sweat loads doing it. But I think after a few weeks doing insanity the jillian michaels DVD is like a warm up lol!! I just did the fit test again today and improved on everything, so it does work!!

Have a good food week!!

OH MY GOD PURPLED! Just done the second insanity workout and it was sooooo hard! Plyometric cardio circuit! I was totally Fine kept up till the basket ball bit actually the basket ball move was fine it was the press-up drills, ski jumps and the other one, for 9 mins like that my legs were killing! I had to keep having a couple second break! But I did finish and I'm really proud of my self and then I even did an 8 min abs kettlebells workout after! I find the kettlebells r the only thing that I really feel my stomach working!

Cals wise I have a Cals burner on my new watch and in the first 9 min warm up, yes warm up I burned 112 Cals the whole insanity workout burnt 556 Cals for 42 mins and with my kettlebells I burned 650 Cals and it's still going up even tho I'm stood still! I wonder how long u burn Cals for after a hard workout like that!

My only problem is I'm not sure I even ate that many Cals already today :/ I had:

B
Apple

D
Lettuce
Carrot
Cucumber
Salad cream light (small amount)
BBQ flavour chicken pieces 145 kcals

For t
3x Angus steak burgers 1005 kcals
And salad bits (much same as lunch)
Maybe a corn on the cob?!

Then fruit tonight if I want it? What do u guys think?
