Looking good Sausage. Ooh I do love eggy bread, I should make that for breakfast one day. Good work on the batch cooking, I really must do that for me, I do it for everyone else but never get round to it for my stuff. Does the loaf freeze well?

Hi Beeg - the mushroom and lentil loaf freezes well. I cut it into 4 portions and wrap them in foil. 3 syns or half a hex per portion. Had it last night and maybe overnuked it a bit as it was a bit chewy on the edges, but I like chewy :D

Hey sausage, popping into see how you are doing. Your menu's look lovely. I'm yet to try the lentil loaf, it's on my to do list.

I have a taster day to do next week, I have no idea what to do...arggh the pressure lol. Any amazing ideas to share lol?

Hi Cake

Why not do the lentil loaf for the taster day then you can taste it too? lol It is very earthy and autumnal so just perfect for this time of year for eating with roast veggies. It can be re-heated or eaten cold depending on whether you have a microwave at your group. I haven't met anyone who didn't like it!

This is my tweaked version:

125g dried green lentils
250g mushrooms sliced
1 onion chopped
2 cloves of garlic crushed
1 egg beaten
84g reduced fat cheddar grated
1 tsp marmite
1/4 tsp mustard powder
1/2 tsp dried rosemary
1/2 tsp dried thyme
salt and black pepper
frylight

Boil the lentils for 20 mins. Drain.
Meanwhile frylight the onion, mushrooms and garlic.
Mix everything together and bake in a loaf tin for 30mins at 200.
Eat hot or cold. Can be frozen.

2 cheesy healthy extras per loaf.

Have you ever tried falafel ? I am wondering about doing them for the next taster night. Do you think they would be ok cold ?

Hi Cake :)

It can keep in the fridge for a few days. Delish hot or cold, but perhaps cold would be better for your taster. It has cheese in it which is firm when cold so easy to slice. As soon as you heat it up, the cheese goes melty and the loaf is too floppy to carve into neat slices.

I bake it in a silicone loaf tin. When it comes out the oven I leave it for a few minutes until the silicone cools then the loaf pops out easily in one piece. Alternatively you would have to frylight a metal loaf tin.

You are confusing me Gail  I thought Sunday weighers didn't have taster evenings lol

Anyhoo, I have made falafels using the Bombay bhaji recipe and swapping the Indian spices for ras el hanout spice blend. Mine are a tad crumbly compared to ones you buy, but can be eaten hot or cold.

Honey has a recipe that looks more substantial, but I don't like coriander or chicken stock so haven't tried them

And, of course, you can't have falafels without Ermintrudes jalapeno houmous  It is better than anything you would buy in the shops and is syn free!

I lost 1.5 pounds this week. As a mad, serial yo-yoer, I am chuffed with that as I lost last week too. Hoping for a hat trick next week. Fingers crossed :D

Saturday 8th October

Breakfast:
eggy bread (hexB)
beans, mushrooms, chilli ketchup (1 syn)

Lunch:
krisprolls (hexB)
feta (hexA)
hot peppadews
banana, apple

Dinner:
quorn peppered steak
broccoli and sweetcorn
roasted BNS and red pepper
noodles and Nando's sauce (2 syns)

Snacks:
milk (hexA)
half bottle of flat cava (13 syns)

Total syns: 16
Fluids: good
Exercise: swimming at last! Yaay!

I must say that the krisproll/feta/peppadew combo does not sound that exciting. Each component is individually nice, but put them together and something happens to make the whole thing amazing.

Hey Sausage !

Well done on your loss this week and an even bigger well done for losing last week and this week. I know how difficult it is to break out of the lose one, gain one yo-yoing so I feel your happiness with the losing two in a row :)

Your lentil loaf sounds fab. I dont like mushrooms so do you think I could do it without ? Or perhaps use roasted red pepper instead ?

Have a good week :)

PMSL - I wondered why you had never been to the Sunday weighers tasters evenings :p !!

Although I am a Sunday weigher and started here, I sometimes go to class. I started doing that about 4 months after I started SW online because I thought that I might need the support when things got tough. In fact I don't and my Sunday weigh in is far more important than my group one (not least because it captures my total loss rather than only some of it and I don't really care whether I gain or lose there) but I like the group (and I love HiFi bars) so I go when I can which is generally about once or twice a month. However my consultant is very understanding. She knows that if I have to pay on the weeks that I can't make it, I would stop going entirely (because every time I go to group I am 'double paying' and don't need the group) so she doesn't make me.

So I don't think I'm a fraud on Sunday weighers ???! ;)

P.S. Brilliant news on the second week in a row loss (and thanks for all the recipes). Well done :D

Hey Gobolino. Thanks for your support :) x

I can't take credit for Grumbletumble's lovely lentil loaf. What is it about mushrooms that you don't like? If it is the slitheriness, then maybe you could give this a go. The mushrooms are so finely chopped and blended with the other ingredients, that they do not have the same texture.

Someone on Grumble's thread mentioned using peppers successfully...

http://www.minimins.com/slimming-world-recipes/183163-mushroom-lentil-loaf-7.html#post3885576

Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks Sausage :)

What is it I dont like about mushrooms? ......... everything !!!!! I can even smell them in the kitchen when hubby has cooked them while I've been away. I cant even touch them - he he! So I'll give it a go with the peppers :D

So I don't think I'm a fraud on Sunday weighers ???! ;)

Much as I like to stir the pot with my mighty wooden spoon ...... I have to be honest and say no you're not a fraud at all. You are a ray of sunshine and a lesson to us all in living life yet losing weight too.

..... and as for you saucisse ridicule, as you well know on Sunday weighers we have no rules ... it's an anarchic haven :p Apart of course from all SW rules... of which it seems there are many! Actually if I took a bit more notice of their rules I might be a tad more successful. I'm a geriatric delinquent rule breaking rabble rouser! :8855:
