Scrumbles' diary...life after losing a third of me...

Morning scrumbles. Keep walking:)

Oi you lot, stop validating my chocolate weakness! :p

Actually, I'm not too bothered about it because a) having a few squares on occasion hasn't stopped me losing weight in the past, and b) though I like it, I don't think I'd ever be tempted to binge on it because the 85% variety isn't sweet enough for me to lose control. The pleasure I get from it comes from savouring the interesting fruity/earthy taste, and I can get my fill of that just from letting a square melt away on my tongue. I've never had any temptation to stuff my face with it like I used to with rubbishy sugar-filled chocolate, so I guess it's safe.

Wasn't intending to, but I stepped on the scales this morning and I'm another pound down, so that's 1.5lbs in 8 days. Better! Hope it stays off. I'm getting tantalisingly near to the 12's now, not to mention my BMI is closing in on moving from "obese" to "overweight", and I really can't wait for that!

To "celebrate" my pound loss I'm going for the 3 mile (+ hill) walk today. The sun is shining, so I might as well make the most of it! I might even try jogging a little on the downward stretches , but we'll see. I never actually set out to do any running, but I know from past experience that as my fitness grows it eventually just seems to happen: I find that I'm walking faster and faster until one day when I'm feeling good I'll spontaneously break into a jog, and off I go. Might happen today, might not, but I know if I keep going with this, it will at some point.

I'll edit in food later - I've had my usual breakfast of cheese omelette and a creamy coffee and I'll decide on the rest when I get back from my walk. :)

^^^ It did, thankfully! :D

Saw the weather forecast at lunchtime and apparently the Jet Stream (which has been bringing us all this rain) is getting bumped northwards (where it belongs!) in the next few days, so we should be in for a spell of more settled, dry weather and somewhat higher temps - halle-flippin-lujah! About time too.

So, I did the three miles, but no running - realised that was a non-starter when I was already looking forward to a break after only half a mile, lol! Fairly sprinted up that hill, mind you. That's the only way I can do 'em: quick as possible to get them over with! I've always been that way. I remember climbing Snowdon with my youth group when I was 13, and I bombed up that thing, much to everyone else's surprise since I wasn't exactly known for my fitness. (God, you just don't appreciate the level of natural fitness you had when you were young, do you? Not until you're old and you don't have it any more! :()

I'm having another grazing day today: peanut butter and choc *ahem*, Stilton, Edam, smoked mackerel, and kippers with salad for dinner. Should come to about 1380 cals and 17g carbs, but if I'm hungry I'll eat a bit more - I allow myself to do that on a day I've walked further than normal.

Afternoon Scrummie the mountain goat! Lol

I walk 10 times faster now than I did a year ago and completely understand the breaking into a jog thing... And I get the dark chocolate thing although not sure if I would have your self control!

You're in your stride girl ... Go get those 12s and bring them over here too! Lol xx

glad it stayed dry for you ,here it's gone strangely still and cloudy, feels like a rumble of thunder kind of feeling
but i don't think it's meant to. ?

Lol @ "mountain goat"! I think that deserves a new avatar :D

It really is worthwhile to look back to what things were like before our weight losses, isn't it? This time last year I'd think twice before walking out to the car (about 10 feet from my front door :p), now I'm walking several miles and contemplating running . It's night and day really.

Knowing my rate of loss it will be about a month before I'm in the 12's , but I am going to get there, and so are you! We're gonna do this...oh yes, we are...:D

Oh I love goats Scrummie! And goats cheese!! Love the new avatar - really funny!

Yes we will make... Oh yes we will!! Hugs xx

No walking - or mountain-climbing :D - for me today. I've decided to rest on the day after my 3 mile walk so that I don't overstress my hip joints (I have a fair few structural problems, so I need to be careful).

Weighed again this morning (I seem to be scale-crazy at the moment, lol) and I've dropped another half pound, so that's 2lbs in the past 9 days - same as I lost in 14 days of my JUDDD experiment, though I'm actually eating on average slightly more than I was then. Not that comparisons are particularly fair, mind you. Too many variables. I'm at a different point in my monthly cycle apart from anything else, and that usually makes quite a difference for me.

Breakfast was omelette and a couple of frankfurters, washed down with a creamy coffee; dinner will be a tuna and tomato...mess...with steamed cabbage, and I'll probably graze on bits and pieces for the rest of the day.

Hope everyone has a great day!xx

Afternoon Scrumbles, love tuna and tomato together, now may have to change my lunch plans.

Love the new avatar. Goats are adorable. My parents live near a goat farm/shop. They're adorable and all have little name plates on. The shop has bread, cheese and soap. Will try to get some pics when I'm home.

loving the goat too... well done for changing it Scrummie! x

Ooooh tuna and tomato mess is one of my favs :)

:D I couldn't think of any other way to describe it, lol. It's just onion and peppers fried in olive oil with garlic, chilli powder, tinned tomatoes and tinned tuna bunged in. Oh, and cheese on top, of course!:D

It just occurred to me that I appear to have settled into a pattern of having a big fatty, protein-y breakfast, picking on cheese and meat during the day, then having all my veggie carbs for dinner . Seems to be suiting me, though, so I guess I'll carry on with it. I've also decided (after two losses in a row) that peanut butter and chocolate are perfectly legitimate diet foods , lol. (until I stop losing of course, then they'll be to blame!;))

Hi Val, I think goats are lovely too - especially the pygmy ones. So cute.

Not a fan of any goat products, though. My stomach had a spectacular disagreement with some goat's milk yoghurt one time, and I've never tried anything made from it since - bad memories!

I'm going down the tin tuna route tonight ... Might make a mess of it! Xx

Mmm tuna and tomato mess :)

Great that you're happy and losing again Scrummie xx

No weigh in today - 3 losses in a row would be waaay too much to hope for, so I'm leaving it a couple of days.

Did another 2 miles towards my walking target (over halfway now :D) but no cavorting over hills. I'll probably do another 2 tomorrow, have a day off on Saturday, then go for the 3 miles again on Sunday morning. That would leave me just 9 miles to do in 9 days, which should be a doddle. Have to say, didn't think I was going to make it when I took the whole of the first week of July off, but I'm right on track now.:)

Food today has been almond bread with cream cheese for breakfast, and that's probably it until our sausage dinner tonight. Concentrating my food intake at the beginning and end of the day with a bit of grazing in the middle really seems to be working for me. To be honest, I've never been a big fan of lunch (as long as I've eaten a sizeable breakfast), and it annoys me to have to stop what I'm doing to make a meal from scratch and wash up afterwards - too much hassle. I guess we all have to find sustainable patterns within the framework of this way of eating, or it's highly unlikely to translate to a successful maintenance. For me, if that means cutting down on the cooking/washing-up a little, then so be it.

Yesterday came to 1370 cals and 24g carbs; today should be 1300 cals and 15g carbs.

As always Scrummie, you're the bees bullocks! Or should I say goats go-nads lol

Well done ... I'm a grazer who cant limit so try not to graze... wish I didn't have to eat so early in the morning on work days - I just need to get the food out of the way. Lol

Xx
