Shelbell's Baby Diary

Thinking of you - hoping for the best lol

Time for an update!

After my doze yesterday contractions started coming every 5 minutes and were getting stronger, so we tootled up to the labour ward around 6pm. Spent some time on the monitor which showed regular contractions, and was then examined. Unfortunately still 2cm so was sent home around 8pm, and told to come back when the pains got too bad to cope with. The midwife said the cervix was very favourable and she thought when I do go properly it will be a very quick labour. She did another sweep while she was there lol.

When we got home contractions seemed to go more irregular again, so we went to bed. Woke up in the middle of the night as there was a power cut and there were house alarms going off everywhere. Passed more of the show, and had a few more irregular but strong contractions. Went back to sleep till a short while ago and not had any contractions since I woke up.

So unless things start up again today it looks like we're back on for Monday. The midwife who looked after me last night is on on Monday so that will be nice as she was lovely. As we were leaving a friend of mine who's a midwife there was coming on duty so I was hoping we would have been back up over night while she was there but no such luck!

So now it's just wait and see.

Sorry you're still waiting, not be long now though!

It's all great progress and still that chance you'll have bubba before tomorrow - but at the very least you won't need much of an induction - maybe even just breaking your waters you never know - also a short labour is a great prospect too.
((hugs))
Hope tomorrow goes well if you do make it that far - be sure to drop by and let us know before you leave how you're doing.
Will be thinking of you! ((Hugs))

Hiya Shel, wow, things are on the move even if a little slow, hoping everything is going well for you though. Looking forward to reading more updates. :D xxx

Morning all. Last update! We're off to hospital in about an hour for the induction. Have been feeling fine right up until my alarm went off, and now the nerves have well and truly kicked in. Hubbs is going to text Jane when beany boy arrives, and I'll catch you all up at some point!

Oh my lord it's scary now.

Aww Shell, have likely missed you, but lots of deep breathing for those nerves and I'm sure all will go well - You'll likely be bored most of the time waiting for them to get going! ((Hugs))
But just keep your eye on that lovely lovely prize at the end! xx
Thinking of you and will be happy to keep the girls updated till you are home (soon) and able to tell us all and show us gorgeous pics!! you know how broody we all are - clucking away! lol Jx x

P.S. Congrats on 38 weeks! :D

Abz there is a new thread with Shells Birth announcement ;)
I won't spoil the surprise! lol

Thanks all :) We got home a couple of hours ago and are just finding our feet away from the security of the hospital! Charlie couldn't wait to pop out, the labour was only 2 hours long in the end. I was examined at 11.40am and told I was 4cm dilated, so asked for an epidural. Sat on the edge of the bed for them to prep me for it, and declared I needed to push. Lay back down and he was born at 11.49am after only 3 pushes! 4cm to born in 9 minutes :D It was all a bit of a shock as I was still thinking I was going to have an epidural, and there was a baby on my tummy.

As requested, here's our gorgeous man -
