Sian's 2015 restart - time to shift the weight once and for all!

Saturday 8th February (Green)

Afternoon ladies. I'm back!!!!!! Woooooo!!! Lol! How are you all? :)

I apologise for my absence....there's been a lot going on at the moment. My dad's currently in hospital...he fell a fortnight ago when I was at home and he broke his ankle, so he was taken by ambulance to the hospital to have that set. He's had a whole host of problems since...he's not weight-bearing at all now on that leg. While he was there they did another brain scan to see what was going on, as he's been having more and more problems with talking coherently. We were told after that scan that he had fluid on the brain and that he's be transferred to Cardiff to drain it. He's in Cardiff now and we found out on Monday that it wasn't fluid at all. The brain tumour had grown back and was actually bigger now than the original tumour. He had another operation on Tueday, which was quite a tricky operation apparently because the tumour was attached to two sizeable arteries in the brain. He's been told that he'll probably have more weakness down his leg and arm now as a result, and they'll definitely be doing radiotherapy this time (according to the doctor he should have had this last time but never did). He was also told yesterday by the consultant that this is the last time they'll be able to operate on his brain, so if it comes back again there's nothing they'll be able to do :(

I feel sick with worry with it all, which as you can imagine hasn't helped the diet at all. I'm very much a comfort eater...anything and everything I can get my hands on just gets shovelled into my mouth. As a result I'm restarting again...I weighed myself yesterday at 15 stone 12, and could have cried  I haven't been this heavy in a couple of years. I've decided to go back to weighing myself weekly as I think that monthly weighing has bred into me an attitude that it doesn't matter if I have a bad week as I can make it up the following week, which never seems to happen. A lady from work has decided to start following the plan, so hopefully we can spur each other on.

Afternoon lovely. Good to see you back.

So sorry to hear about your dad. Sounds like lots has been done for him, and fingers crossed the surgery and the radiotherapy zaps the tumour once and for all.

How the chap?

Food looks great! And hopefully a colleague doing slimming world too will help.

Have you ever considered joining a group? xx

Thanks hun. Yes, we're all keeping our fingers crossed. Gotta stay positive I guess! :)

Things are going well with the new chap (or not so new now, it's officially 8 weeks on Sunday, lol!). I haven't told my parents yet, but at the end of they day they don't really need to know at the moment, and they've got enough on their plates to think about! He's been a massive support over the last couple of weeks...he's definitely a keeper I think! :)

I did consider joining a group, but because I live between here and my parents house it makes it quite awkward with going to a group to weigh in. The thought of weighing myself in front of other people also horrifies me, lol! :D

Have a fab weekend chickadee :) xx

Ah hun how lovely him being there for you! He sounds lovely! Can we have a picture of you together??

As for group, you don't really get weighed in front of other people. I just thought the hour for you and the motivation and support etc may help you xx

Oh Sian, can't imagine what you're going through hun. Must be so worrying & stressful for you & your family, really hope the radiotherapy is a success. Its great that your fella is such a support though, sounds as if things are going well together.

Well done for restarting tho, & for coming back here - you have been missed!

X

Well done for getting back on the wagon as they say :)
Have alovely evening and best wishes to your dad and mum x

Hi Sian.........as you know I have had cancer and also run a support web site for ladies with breast cancer...........different I know from a tumour on the brain but along the way I did learn a lot from my wonderful ladies some of whom suffered metastasis to the brain. What I did learn was that radiotherapy reduces the tumour by enormous amounts and whilst it might be uncomfortable at the time it is in general very successful. I hope and I pray that all goes well for him and for you xxxxx

Your food is looking good but do not be too hard on yourself.........you are human and if you slip at this trying and distressing time it is forgivable.........................look to what is best for you both phyiologically and physically.

lots and lots of love xxxxx
