Sian's 2015 restart - time to shift the weight once and for all!

My birthday will probably be the same....it's not until July but we just tend to go out for a meal or get a Chinese in. God you'd think I was 65 this year not 35 lol
 
Friday 11th January (EE)

Evening all! Wow, what a hectic week it's been! I'm always a little bit shell-shocked the first week back in school after a holiday, but there doesn't seem to have been a minute to sit down this week. I'm hoping that I'll be back into my regular routine by next week :) After having a really bad food week (has anyone noticed that I just don't post very much when I'm having a bad week! :eek::eek::eek: I really must rectify this behaviour) I lost 3.5lb this week!!! :bliss: Only 4lb to go now until I'm back to my pre-Christmas party/end of term weight gain. I'm determined to have a good week this week - going to cook myself a lovely paella, so I've got to be good this weekend so I can save syns for all the yummy chorizo I want to put in it, lol! :D We went out for lunch today as a science department as a belated celebration of my birthday, but I was good and stuck to a chicken salad with caeser dressing. It was lush!

I'm off to see Les Miserables (the film, not stage show) tomorrow, wooooo! I'm meeting up with a friend who left our school in December, so it'll be nice to catch up on all the gossip from the new (far more horrible) school she's gone to! I'll just have to steer her away from the cakes in Costa and away from all the chocolates in the cinema! This could be easier said than done, lol!

Ooo, sorry fo rthe lack of reply! Les Mis was fabulous...Russell Crowe's singing isn't up to much, but it didn't detract from how good the film was :) There seemed to be quite a few men watching it and everybody seemed enthralled, so maybe the Oh could be persuaded? xx
 
Friday 18th January (Green)

Well after a really bad week this week I put on 3lb :( It was completely deserved, but it's just made me feel really crap. Since restarting in July I've only lost 18lb, which is rubbish for me considering I have so much to lose. I just don't seem able to stick to anything at the moment. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to persevere :(

Eggs baked in large field mushrooms

Hiya hun! It's a much better day than the rest of the week...it's amazing what having a weekend can do for the mood, haha! I need to find a rich man to marry so I can have that weekend feeling every day ;) Nah, I'd be bored really if I didn't go to work.

Feeling more positive this afternoon...I'm NOT going to drink like a fish this evening, and I AM going to moderate my drinking. I'm also having some different meals this week...things have been getting a bit samey and I've got a bit bored, so I'm having tabbouleh this week for a change, yum!

If you find that rich fella , can you make sure he has an equally rich brother please lol ;) I wouldn't be bored at all, I'd have time to go to the gym, go shopping with his credit card, be a lady what lunches! Hehe.

Are you out tonight or do you drink at home??? Oh ***** I sound like an AA meeting!!! I find that I eat the same sorts of food over and over, but I don't really get fed up, but I do need to vary things a bit. What's tabbouleh????

I go out drinking...I hate drinking in the house as for me drinking is a social thing. I actually started off very well last week and only had a few vodkas with lime and soda, but then someone started buying jagerbombs and it all went downhill form there really! I'll just have to resist this week :)

Tabbouleh is a bulgur wheat salad...here's the recipe I use:


Ingredients (serves 4 large portions)

200g bulgur wheat
200ml boiling water
1 red pepper, de-seeded and chopped
1 yellow or orange pepper, deseeded and chopped
350g ripe tomatoes, deseeded and chopped
5-6 spring onions, finely chopped
50g sultanas/raisins (7 syns)
5 tbsp chopped flat leaf parsley
5 tbsp chopped mint
A pinch of chilli flakes (optional)

Dressing:

4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (24 syns or 4 x HexB)
1 tbsp tomato puree
4 tbsp lemon juice, and grated rind of the lemon
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt (although less would be fine!)
1 tsp ground pepper


Method:

1. Place the bulgur wheat in a large bowl. Cover with the boiling water, stir and cover with clingfilm. Allow the water to absorb for 20 minutes
2. Meanwhile chop all the vegetables and mix the dressing. After the water has absorbed, fluff up the bulgur wheat with a forl and stir in the dressiong.
3. Add all the vegetables and herbs and mix in well.


Other than the oil this is actually quite healthy, and a very nice alternative to pasta or rice salads. The olive oil could be used as a HexB to reduce the syns for this dish :) I'll probably halve this amount though as I don't want to eat it all week!

It ends up looking a bit like this:

I also found a recipe for breakfast tabbouleh:


Breakfast tabbouleh

The recipe is:

50g bulgur wheat (soaked in 100ml boiling water for 20 minutes)
Any fresh fruit you like, chopped (I'm using apple, satsuma and banana)
Freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice
Zest of the lemon/orange
Yoghurt (optional)


1. Pour 100ml boiling water over the bulgur wheat and cover with clingfilm for 20 minutes
2. Chop up the fruit
3. Once cooked, fluff up the bulgur wheat with a fork and stir in freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice and the zest of the orange/lemon
4. Add the chopped fruit, stir, and top with a dollop of yoghurt (I'm having a Coconut greek style muller, yum!)

Afternoon all! Well I didn't do too badly on the alcohol front last night...30 syns, which is manageable for me and this week's food plan :) I'm determined to have a good week! :D

I know exactly how you feel about struggling to get back in the game since Christmas. The cold weather definitely doesn't help! If you have a tesco near you hun the Special K biscuits are 99p (half price). I stocked up yesterday! :D xx
 
Hi Sian, sorry about your gain, but at least you're trying to get your head back in the right place!

I haven't tried those biscuits, but I did pick up a pack of the Rocky Road Hi-fi bars at group last week - absolutely lush and can't believe you can have two for a HEX B! (Also tried the chocolate and caramel, but didn't like those as much...)

Hope you have a great week and avoid that dreaded alcohol!! I used to be really sneaky when I was out with friends - I'd always offer to go to the bar and order myself a diet coke, or a slimline tonic - and then claim it was a vodka! :p
