Simon (Bolero's) Food Diary

Afternoon. Just got back from work, and I'm exhausted...went out on a bang really, as today was beyond busy (over 300 people in over a 4-hour period...which is amazing, considering before we moved location back in March we'd average about 50 on a Saturday morning!) Although the biggest crisis, I think, was running out of tea bags this morning...goodness knows how I got through that shifts without a caffeine fix! lol. Glad I've got 10-days off now to relax and sleep.

Had a little chicken at lunch time, as I've been craving meat for the past few days. Wish I could say it was worth it, but it was a bit of an anti-climax...probably would have enjoyed a Quorn wrap instead. But anyway, the craving is gone for another few weeks at least.

Party Puffs with Skimmed Milk - 4pp

Lunch
Tesco Moroccan Chicken Wrap - 8pp

Lol about the running out of tea bags...made me chuckle ;0)
Wow very busy day at work then! Hope you enjoy your time out with your friend today,
Cravings and then the actual eating of the food are often totally different! Least the craving is now gone!

Morning all. I'll sort out what I ate & drank yesterday later on, and put up my breakdown. Must admit that I'm a bit meh about yesterday's food. As I probably mentioned, I went out with a mate yesterday. Didn't really drink more than I usually would, but ever since then I've been throwing up every time I eat or drink (currently trying to drink a cuppa, but not doing a very good job of keeping it down). Not sure if that's to do with alcohol, or other things (we've had a bit of a bug going through the house ever since Saturday when my dad picked up a few reduced pasties, which I ate one of late Saturday night...so not sure if they've induced a bit of food poisoning, as everyone who ate one has been ill), or a mix of both. Whatever the reason, it has meant that whatever I've eaten hasn't stayed down long enough to be digested...so feels a bit unfair to have to use most of my weeklies up on that!

SUNDAY'S DIARY
Didn't have any dinner, as I was throwing up by this point and couldn't face the KFC I'd bought. Have that today. Drank more than I thought, but still bringing up everything I eat today (as is the rest of the household). Food poisoning?

TODAY'S DIARY
Not counting breakfast, as all I managed was half a cup of tea (which came back up) and a cup of mint tea (which has no points).
Got the KFC I bought last night to eat. Not sure what the Nacho tower burger is in the box meal I got, so I've pointed it as a fillet tower...imagine it's about the same.

Lunch
Spaghetti on toast - 11pp

Dinner
KFC Nacho Burger Box Meal (approximated) - 33pp

Oh no about you all being ill, does sound like it could be food poisoning, scary! Hope you're all starting to feel better now! Eek at 50pp for cider!!

Thanks all. :) The KFC was yummy, and fortunately I've managed to keep it down. My tum is still a bit unsettled, but hopefully getting there.

Had that big day of cooking today, and tried out a few new recipes: Quorn & sweet potato casserole; salmon, mussel & noodle stew; ratatouille pasta bake; Moroccan veg stew; and sweetcorn risotto. I was going to make more, but I've run out of freezer space now...largely thanks to the ratatouille pasta bake, as it made up far more than I was expecting. The recipe said serves 4, but it easily makes up 8 portions! No doubt I'll take pics of the meals when I serve them up.

Got a bit of a busy week ahead of me. I made inquires recently about a few family history records (my great-grandma was sadly sent to an asylum, where she passed away). I've a good idea that she suffered with clinical depression, and I'm of course interested in having a look at her case notes. However, the research fees to get a copy were going to be £8 for every quarter of an hour...and it's likely that it would take a few hours, as before the notes can be dug out there's the matter of finding out when she was admitted as the records run in date order rather than alphabetical. Instead I'm heading down to Maidstone on Wednesday to do it myself, and to visit an old friend of my grandma's. Looking forward to going down, but a bit nervous about the drive. It's a good 150-miles drive down to Kent, and it will be my first time driving on the motorway.

Morning. :) Thankfully I've got my mum coming with me as she does the family history stuff as well, so we're sharing the driving...I'm driving down as far as the Membury services (which is about half way) and she's doing the second half, which does mean I don't have to drive on the M25 thankfully! :p We'll be hitting the M25 around rush hour, so I wouldn't fancy doing that stage!
Eating tomorrow is a bit of a concern for me. We'll be leaving around 5am, so probably have a big breakfast around 4ish to last me through...and probably take some sandwiches for lunch, although I'm expecting I'll end up eating out somewhere. Will have to research later to see where does meals that are low in PP...I know Weatherspoons used to do a pasta arriabata that was about 12pp, so maybe if they still do that.

But anyway, I've been busy sorting out tomorrow all morning...so no breakfast again (I really need to stop doing that!!), and am toying with the idea of Quorn burgers for tea. Haven't had a burger for a long time, so make a change.

Well done on all the cooking yesterday, that's pretty impressive!
Wow love the idea of the family history, sounds interesting and exciting all in one! That's good that your Mum will be sharing the driving with you and you don't have to do the M25.Hope you find somewhere good to have dinner and it all goes well tomorrow :0)

Morning all. I didn't know there was a 4am before! lolol. Must admit that I ended up noming quite a bit yesterday (the only downfall in not having work is being in close proximity to the fridge!), but tracking it all I don't seem to have gone too badly...only ended up using 2 weeklies yesterday, so that's no bad at all. Was expecting much worse, to be honest. I did try the Moroccan stew I made (sorry, I forgot to do a pic...shall have to remember next time), and it is lovely. Given it's just veg (aubergine, onion, peppers and tomatoes) in a bit of spice, it's come out so tasty...and as it's 0pp for the dish, it's a double win!

Starting the day with a full English breakfast...or a semi breakfast, as I forgot to buy sausages. :p It'll likely be around 2 before I get a break for lunch, so need it to last me out. Looking, I have 19 dailies left for something to eat tonight. Not too bad, and should be able to find something for that...even if it's a KFC burger in the services tonight (they're around 17pp for the tower burgers I think). Although as we're popping in to see a family friend (and knowing Dot she's bound to give us sandwiches, as she's exactly like my Grandma was. Force feed you food when you come to visit. :p), it probably won't come to that.

moroccan stew sounds lovely! That breakfast too.. yum! x Hope the drive isn't too bad! Early start indeed, eeeek! x I know the feeling with kind ladies and force feeding you, when we visit my Grandma she always always always ensures we eat something even if we've already had lunch and for some odd reason always has a homemade cake ready to whip out with a plate of biscuits! (her lemon drizzle is to die for|!) Anyway, I'm rambling now, enjoy your day! :)

Yawn!! Morning :0) hope all goes well today and that big breakfast keeps you going!
The stew does indeed sound yummy!
Enjoy today, hope the journey there and back goes well :0)

Morning all. Didn't get back home until just after 11 last night, so that was a very long day! Took the better part of 4-hours driving each way, which was a bit longer than we'd expected but it was nice getting on the motorway at last and bombing along. Very much enjoyed my day, and am glad that I went to do the research myself...it took me 6-hours of searching to discover that there's a potential spelling mistake in the registers, and that the entry in the admission registers I think is for my ancestor shows that she entered the asylum 2-years before the case notes start. That's a bit frustrating, but given that if I'd paid someone to do it then I'd have paid out £8 for every quarter of an hour (or in other words the better part of £200 in total for the job) I'm glad I was the one to do it and cover all angles.
On the plus I was able to print out a number of other things, as we were looking at wills too...so I've got a good two dozen of those to make sense of now. That'll keep me busy for a few days. :p

Foodwise things went a bit silly yesterday, and I've no idea what to point dinner as. We had food in the services on the way home, as it was 8:30 by this point, and had a chicken & ham pie with chips and peas. Not a single clue what the points would be on it, but to be honest I'm not all that bothered given a new diet week starts this morning.

Just got off the scales too, and I'm quite pleased to notice that I've dropped a pound this week. That's much better than I was expecting, so I'm thrilled by that! :)

Wow sounds like you do indeed have plenty to keep you busy over the next few days!
Glad all went well yesterday,Shame the driving took longer then you thought though!
Yup don't worry bout yesterday's food,as you say,new start today and well done on your loss :0)

Thanks. :) Very pleased by it, as I was half expecting a sts at best this week. Not going to argue with the scales though. :p I shall be trying the salmon & mussel stew I made this evening. Looking forward to that.

Indeed. Plenty to get on with. I've worked through two of the wills I got this morning, and they're a fountain of useful information. Couldn't ask for more from them really. :) Got some big ones (7 page jobs) waiting to be done, so I expect they'll be big families to piece together...and hopefully a breakthrough I've been waiting for in there. Fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed for you with the break through!
I'd go along with what the scales said aswell!
Enjoy your stew tonight, couldn't eat mussles myself!

Mussels are one of my favourites. Remind me of my grandma, oddly, as she's the one who introduced me to them. Must admit that she's in my mind a lot today, after seeing Dot yesterday. Dot and my grandma were good friends, and it's really brought a smile hearing her talk about her. But I digress a bit. :p
