Simon (Bolero's) Food Diary

LlanfairPG is a name that takes the mick really, considering it translates to 'St. Mary's Church by the Stream in a Great Big Forest Where Three Little Pigs Lived Happily Until One Day a Great Big Wolf Came and Did Unspeakable Things'...or something like that. Pretty sure the person in charge of naming places was drunk that day! :p

I was a bit uncertain as to how the bones in a poussin would affect the weight, given there's a load of bone in one. Suspect I'm overthinking it again lol, but best be safe than sorry I suppose. :p

The frustrating part with the spag bol is that when I went to ASDA to get the sauce, they had ultra lean mince reduced. If I hadn't already taken the Quorn out of the freezer, then I'd have had that. Shame really, as can't beat the taste of moo mince in spag bol. Ah well. :)

The throat is annoying really, as I'd only just got over one about a week ago. Oddly I've been fine right up until we've needed to put the heating (which is tied into the air con) on at work, so I'm wondering if the very dry air that blows out is exacerbating things...especially as my colleagues have also commented on similar problems whenever the air con goes on.
But anyway, either way it'll be a trip to Tesco before work now as I've run out of Strepsils. Hopefully they'll have sugar free ones in again, as I feel better about taking sugar free meds. :p

Pretty busy afternoon, and I found out that Tesco's own Strepsils are a bit of the strong side...had three so far over the course of the day, and they've made me drowsy as hell! Helped the throat, but soooooo glad that my mum had my car today as I don't think driving would be a good idea at present!

Pretty sure it's the aircon...that and the fact that there's a lot of this about at present. Hope that clears up for your mum soon. Paint fumes are bad enough without feeling like you've swallowed a brillo pad.

Having scampi for dinner, as it's "empty the freezer" time again...this time as I've got too, as we're in need of a new freezer and want to empty this one and get shot of it in the next few months. :p I'll sort out my points on here when my head is clearer...done it all on eSource this morning, so got that far at least. lol.

I was quite surprised, to be honest...never got drowsy from strepsils before. Just relaxing tonight listening to Muse (with a little encouragement from a friend :p) and Nirvana, which has woken my brain up a bit. Just before bed too. lol.

I'm not at all sure what's in the freezer, to be honest...bit like Narnia in there! Keep on finding things that I thought got eaten months ago, although I did find a packet of WW chocolate eclairs...so I'm happy for a while. lol.

I'm going to see how I go, but if I'm not any better by the morning I'm going to have to see the doctor. Sorry for a bit too much info, but I've just been coughing up a bright yellow bloody mucus...so I'm a bit concerned I've come down with a case of bronchitis, which is something we've had chronically in the family going back to my great-grandparents at least.

Sounds like you deffo should have a trip to the docs! Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. :) I'm feeling a bit better this evening, although still not really myself. Shall see how I go, and if I'm still feeling rough in the morning I shall have to make an appointment with the doctor as I expect I'd need antibiotics or somat.

I was a bit concerned about my points at dinner, to be honest, and usually wouldn't have used that many up on spag bol...but I didn't feel much like Quorn mince today, and couldn't help myself but to eat it all when it came out. It was sooooooooooooo tasty with the beef mince and fresh tagliatelle! Nom.

I've picked up a black pudding for later in the week (which I love) and a white pudding to try, after it's been recommended to me by a friend. :) Looking forward to trying that, which will probably be Thursday now once a fresh set of weeklies spring around. :) Having a pork chop for dinner tomorrow with mash & veg. Looking forward to it. :)

Thanks. :) Hoping I'm on the mend now, as I'm feeling the best I have in days this evening. Still not perfect by any description, but managed to get by with only two stepsils today...so that's an improvement.

White Pudding is an Irish thing, I gather. Not sure exactly what's in it, but it smells exactly like a sausage and am quite looking forward to it. :) It's best not to think about what black pudding actually is...what is essentially a boiled blood clot doesn't really hold all that much culinary appeal!! lol. Like a lot of things though, I suppose...quite tasty, but about as appealing as an invitation to dinner with Hannibal Lector. :p

Well it's that time of the week again when I brave the scales, and I'm pleasantly surprised by them this week. I've lost a nice one and a quarter pounds, so am quite pleased with that.

Having a cooked breakfast later on (probably more like a lunch by the time I get myself out of the nice warm bed), so looking forward to that...even if a rough glance does look like it will be using up over 30pp. That'll do me for most of the day, mind, and don't expect I'll be feeling like a big dinner.

Feeling a lot better today. My throat is feeling relatively normal now (the pain has gone, but it's feeling a bit numb and swollen), and apart from still coughing up a load of muck (which fortunately is no longer bloody) I think I'm on the mend. :)

Thanks. :)
